Beware on the Recipes

I have noticed while looking for some recipes that there are some that claim to be Ph2, but they are not. If it's not truly by the book I don't think we should be calling it Ph2 friendly. It might really start to screw people up.

Just my 2 cents.carry on:)

ASHLEY2HAWAII 08-26-2010 05:18 PM

Please let us know what are the ones! I dont want to cook any thing that is not P2!!!

RenoMom 08-26-2010 05:42 PM

I don't want to point any fingers, just make sure you only use one meat, one veggie (from the list) and no oil's of any kind. You are not supposed mix veggies. Some people consider tomatos as their fruit so that they can use hem along with onions, but that's about it.

dawnyama 08-27-2010 06:01 AM

Yes, you definitely have to heed caution on that recipe sticky we have!!! Some don't feel badly for using other veggies or products that are not protocol friendly. But some do care about that stuff!!! The only thing "off protocol" that I happen to do is use the Walden Farms products. But some consider them protocol friendly!! So your call....but beware!!

Hello,
Where do I find the HCg recipes on this board?
thanks

wendysmiling 08-27-2010 10:05 AM

The very first thread on this forum. :)

dawnyama 08-27-2010 10:08 AM

Ooh, I have to add that I do have the occasional Diet Pepsi on this protocol too. Have to disclose everything around here!!!

Tyl 08-27-2010 10:16 AM

lol i wish i could be as fancy as some of you guys in the recipe thread, but my plan foods are just easy to make in large quantities on the weekends lol. season meat, bake! bam! lol

walkingwoman 08-27-2010 11:03 AM

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think some of it is because some of the drops come with loose versions of Simeon's and people don't realize that most of us are doing protocol or notate our tweeks, ymmv, etc. I think some of the drops come with variations on the Simeon's thread ( I know one forum I've read there are tons of people using balsamic vinegar for example and broccoli too) so I think some of the recipes were added because of stuff like that. I think its always a good idea for everyone to be aware and concious of the plan they are doing and I sometimes read and  for myself but hey, if it works for that person and keeps them on track, I say go for it. The only time I wanna bring it up is when someone 'complains' about their lack of losses but isn't doing the plan to begin with:laugh: Always cracks me up tbh. :D

Dawn, do you find that the diet pepsi slows or hinders you at all? I'm starting tomorrow, and right now I have a HUGE diet pepsi addiction. I drink 6-8 of them a day...every day! And I have for about 30 years, so I'm really nervous about giving them up entirely. I'm definitely going to try, but if I occassionally have one is it going to throw me off track?

Not Dawn here, but I have the occasional Diet 7up and it hasn't bothered me one bit.

I really do try and do without, but when I am out and in a restaurant with family I will order one. I feel the alternative is much worse!!! I have also bought 1 or 2 while working so I won't go after the frapps!!! It hasn't hurt me but it could stall you. Just watch and see!!!

I was a diet coke drinker for many years. I had to have one every day or I'd get a headache. I managed to cut myself down to just the one so I didn't feel so bad.

I knew I'd have to give it up on this diet and I prepared myself by ordering some zevia cola to have just in case. I had my last diet coke 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I can't explain it but I was able to go cold turkey with a tiny headache but nothing a tylenol couldn't handle.

I've tried to give up diet coke before and it was horrible so I was anticipating using the zevia to get myself through and I've not touched it yet. I have had a couple of ginger ale zevias but I even stopped those and drink strictly water and hot water with lemon in the morning. HTH

Good luck!

MtherGoos 08-27-2010 05:57 PM

Thanks for the help! I am going to try and go cold turkey! Wish me luck!!

Make sure you have something on hand for those headaches. I take ibuprophen but whatever you do best with, make sure you have!!! After my load days, I had headaches for 2 days. What a doozer that was!!!! AND I was NOT coming down after having tons of coffee or sodas either. My problem is chocolate and I think I had just a wee bit much before this round started :o

Oh, so Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

MtherGoos 08-27-2010 06:48 PM

Oh! I was going to try and make the chili! What part of it is not protocal? Glad I checked before I went grocery shopping!

I'm not sure WHAT it was.. Many have ate it it and released well..I'm So jelious! For me..It's off my list. I was using the FireRoastedSalsa Kroger brand with 100grams of 96percent beef and the listed spices.. I thought that maybe it had some kind of peppers in it as it said Salsa..but it didnt. So I Dunno. Maybe just buy 2 cans at first to see how it effect your releasing.

Lorrie200 08-28-2010 12:47 AM

I just took a ganter threw 10 pages of the recipee thread...it seemed to me that half of the recipee's werent on protical..especially P2 protical. Had me so confused . I found myself reading each one am then saying 'is that safe?'

It would maybe be helpful to some of us newbies if each recipee had a notation or something saying which phase it was safe for. (or maybe I should just be smart enough to figure that out?) There were alot of egg things and also the use of Pam..which I was just told that Pam was NOT allowed recently on another thread. (I thought it was cause I had read it a few days ago on the recipee thread)

Just a thought..

There is nothing off protocol about the chili!! It is up to you to see if your body will lose while you are eating it. Dr S cautions against using some American beef because of the fat and marbling. So you have to try and see if you can "handle" the leanest ground beef you will be using for your chili. But others have used other cuts of lean beef in their chili. I have even done a chili day in my 2nd round where I ate the chili for both meals in one day and had a very nice drop the next day!! Just try the chili once and see if you have a loss.

Now notice I did say I had the OCCASIONAL Diet Pepsi. I mostly saved them for when I went out to eat or when i was at work and the frappuccinos were calling out for me!! I tried to keep it to 2 a week!!!

MtherGoos 08-28-2010 08:31 AM

Thanks for the help Lorrie and Dawn! I'll go ahead and leave it on my list for now and just try it a couple of times to see how it goes. Started my drops today! I'm excited to go and get the food for starting P2 on Monday!!

Good point, I have seen where tomatoes are subitute for a fruit (they are a fruit) not a veg by biology. Less calories ie 5 cal per oz, I just dont see much difference using a tomato vs apple in a salad etc. I do not think this is really (un protocal)
I think all of us need to do what works for us, some purists even use diet soda and salsa on their chicken salad, and say they do protocal by the book.
go figure!!!

the later ones do have whether they are for P2 or P3 or whichever we noticed the same problem last year but most you can just tell by the ingredients

ChristiansMom 08-28-2010 09:24 PM

I noticed that too. I think the only thing I've used that isn't protocol is salsa in my mexican soups as a based with water. I count the calories completely and only use about 1/4 cup but no more than 1/2 a cup. I haven't had a problem losing when I eat it but that's just me. It is made with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. No sugars no starches. That is the only thing, I think, that I do that isn't by the book and was done after reading it in a recipe and stupidly thinking it was P2 friendly - it works for me but YMMV.

I've made a chili and none of it is off protocol. I have made it with ground chicken breast, grilled chicken breast and lean ground beef - without any problems. It's one of my favorites!

Just thought I'd let you know that Eggs ARE allowed on this protocol. It's 1 whole egg + 3 egg whites per serving in place of your protein for one meal. Same thing with cottage cheese - it can be substituted for your protein in a meal and I believe it's 100g or 3.5oz (?) Both of these choices really help when things get boring and you want to mix things up a bit. I've had scrambled eggs for dinner and used cottage cheese to make a strawberry milkshake or a sweet fruit dip for my fruit. Yum!

Really? Wow, thats nice to know. Thanks so much for sharing that with me. My roomie LaLa hates them..but I like eggs alot..usually srcambled with cheese..but I quess thats what got me in the possition I'm in right now..:laugh:

ChristiansMom 08-29-2010 07:32 PM

lol Eggs and cheese are not bad for you (they are low carb and if you've done low carb you know they aren't bad for you :) ) .. especially in P3 but skip the cheese in P2 and stick to 1 whole egg plus 3 whites. I've had it 2-3 times now on P2 and it's a nice change. Once I made it with dried onion flakes and it was awesome - lots of pepper too!

They are yummy - oh but you might want to use a touch of water or chicken broth in the pan first so they don't stick too bad when you are scrambling them because we cannot have oil or butter in P2.
