P4
There's a lot of great info on how to transition into P3, but what about P4- Maintenance? I would think there should be a gradual process, not just "hey I'm in maintenance- pile on the carbs!" I'm not done with P2 yet, but I'm a planner!
Thanks! Sally |

Sally, thanks for starting this thread. I hope you get some great responses as I am a planner too and would enjoy reading what other's have done to introduce the foods back in and out of their menus.

I was looking for the same thing. I started my first day of P4 which coincided with my first day back to work, I work in a school setting. Breakfast was fruit, lunch was a splurge it was catered, sanwiches and desserts. I did indulge, but in the past I would have kept going for the rest of the day, but for dinner I ate lo cal salad with protein, vinager dressing and strawberries. So I hope that balances it out. I've had no problems stabilizing in P3, no correction days.

I keep hoping that someone will pop in here and help y'all out!! I am technically in P4 but all I can tell you is how not to do it!!!
P4 is when I literally just fall apart and start gaining. I can tell you all the tips and tricks I have picked up here and there, such as when adding in a new food JUST add that one thing to your menu and keep the rest P3. I can also say that it is best to add the new starch or sugary food to your breakfast or lunch so you can have the chance to "burn it off" the rest of the day. Any more you care for me to share?? I hope Lindy and Deb come in here since they have had successful P4s. They have been incredibly successful!!! ![]() ![]()

Thanks ladies for your input... yes dawnyama, I would love to hear more!
Hopefully by bumping this up we'll get some maintainers to contribute too. Like you said dawn, I figured it's probably all about introducing one small portion of a food at a time, noting any symptoms... Only 2 more days of dosing for me! I start P3 on Monday. I have officially hit my goal ![]() |

That is fabulous on meeting goal!!!
OK more tips I have "heard" about!! Introduce one item at a time or even a half of an item. One maintainer I know introduced a bagel with cream cheese in at breakfast--he is a man. IF it were me I would do half a bagel since they are so darned big!! The usual first foods I have seen introduced are the "good for you " carbs like, bananas, oatmeal, sweet potato, beans like pinto, kidney, refried. Try them at your own risk....if you usually have 1 cup of oatmeal at breakfast try 1/2 cup with an egg for the protein. A lot of people do the Ezekial bread too. I will try to add more when I remember them!! |
