- The dreaded "Bernice" thread -

I'm kind of a modest person so talking about bodily functions isn't something I do - in real life or online. I was taught it's not proper for women to discuss such things but then my parents grew up in the 40's-50's and it's now the 2010's so I'm tossing that all aside.

I'm doing hHCG and haven't had a visit from Bernice (BM) in almost a week. Yesterday I was bloated and uncomfortable but I'm not sure if that was why. I was gassy and today I feel better but I still wish Bernice would hurry up.

I took 2 (250) Magnesium pills but still nothing. I couldn't find any Smooth Move Tea or anything else that I thought would help and be on protocol. In the fiber suppliment section, there was a Fiber Punch but I was afraid it wasn't allowed so I didn't buy it.

In the past, I've never had a problem when on LC or anything else with being somewhat normal in this area. Once every other day is about normal for me.

I'm eating cabbage, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, apples, strawberries and oranges - you would think that would be good fiber but apparently not.

Does anyone have some advice on what I can do?

Do you drink coffee? I don't myself but every time my mother has hers in the morning she seems to be off to the bathroom..lol

I'm sorry..I don't really have any suggestions for you. I find that sometimes the smooth move works and other times..not so much.

I read apple cider vinegar is supposed to keep you regular but I'm not sure on that one.

It takes a lot more of Magnesium for me to go. My tabs are 450 ea and sometimes I take 4. Usually 3 though. You may just have to play with it. But it does work.

If you can't find the Smooth Move tea, it also comes in capsules, you can try hot water with lemon.

It may take two days or so to be "successful".

I also read ACV. It is nasty tasting so I dilute it in a glass and add flavored Stevia drops. It helps a little for taste. It is also supposed to help with weight loss.

Thanks girls.. I do not drink coffee. I've only been drinking water since starting hHCG and my fruit smoothies (those aren't very often though).

I will have to make another trip to the store on Wednesday or maybe tomorrow if I can squeeze it in. It can't be good to go a week without a BM.

Tori.. lucky When I did LC, everyone was always complaining about this issue and I never had an issue. I really didn't think I would have an issue with the HCG but I guess my good luck has run out in this department.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Torister drinks hot lemon water every morning?

I started it yesterday and I had a visit from Bernice later that morning. I'm going to continue with it because I have given up diet coke and ice tea and energy drinks in the morning so I don't have much left..lol But maybe that might help things move along.

I didn't use any sweetner..I liked the tart flavor...was pretty good!

My one cup of coffee in the morning usually "moves" me but when it doesn't, a suppository gets things moving...they are made of glycerin.

I do! I dropped the sweetener, but I enjoy this in the AM. I used to drink it every morning YEARS ago on some weight loss plan. I do remember that it was known for having a diuretic effect. Not sure about that, but I drink it every AM!

I drink Natural Calm when Bernice won't make a visit! Be careful though when using or you will live in the bathroom for a while. Start with a level teaspoon full added to hot water and work your way up. I take a rounded teaspoon full in the morning and it works like a charm! Also, you should take a chelated magnesium product like Doctor's Best High Absorbtion Magnesium. I take 2 200 mg tablets twice a day and usually don't have Bernice issues unless I forget to take it.

A lot of the magnesium that is out there doesn't work as well because it isn't absorbed by the body as well as chelated magnesium. Here is a informational piece about magnesium and the bodies need for it. Magnesium Update

How much lemon to how much water? I used to do this years ago when I was on a macrobiotic type diet.

I use a 16 oz glass of water that is nuked for 2 mins in the micro. I take half a fresh lemon and squeeze it into the water after it is heated...then enjoy!

Dr. Simeon says you can have the juice of 1 lemon every day. I am just using half.

I found smooth move tea at Walgreens over in the laxitive department. Dr. Oz mentioned on his show one time that it wasn't something you should take daily, but it did help me on occasion.

While on P2 I did add in Natural Calm. It is a magnesium drink that I take at night. I also added back in my psyllium, something I took pre-hcg. Both those did the trick for me while in P2! I have the magnesium pills, but that is the wrong form of magnesium you want to entice bernice. I did buy some smooth move tea when I was in p2, but was afraid to use it because of the talk on the board about it! You can also add in a probiotic, that should help things move along too. Hoping you feel better soon!

Thanks! I understand if you drink this first thing in the morning it has a cleansing effect to the body.
