P2's What's on your menu for today?

I thought this might be a fun thread for people to get some ideas for changing up their menus if they feel like they are in a rut! Here's mine for today:

Chorizo chili made with chorizo seasong, a can of fireroasted tomatoes Safeway brand are the lowest cal i've found at 70 cals for the whole can, 100 gms 7% fat ground beef, sliced apple

Tilapia seasoned with fresh lemon, garlic and dill steamed over a bed of asparagus. I put the asparagus on the bottom, top with the fish, then steam in a steam basket on my stove for about 10 minute, sliced strawberries.

A minimum of 6 16.9 oz. bottles of water, iced tea, and maybe club soda. It's hot here

I like this - Nice to have some new ideas on menus!

B: Coffee w/ 1 tbsp skim milk and 1 splenda packet

L: 4 oz Ground turkey seasoned w/ garlic and chipotle wrapped in leafy lettuce wraps

S: If I'm hungry I will have my handfull of strawberries

D: I don't know yet - Looking for a good idea - Maybe chicken.

S: An apple if I am hungry

Tea, tea, tea, tea, tea w/ little splashed of lemon juice all day looooong!!

All the recent talk about cottage cheese got me in the mood for it!

1/2 c. cottage
1 empire apple
cinnamon, liquid stevia

sliced cucumbers

96% lean ground beef sauteed with garlic, tomato & spinach

Lemon ice: zest, juice & pulp of 1 lemon in the blender with ice and some orange club soda. Put in the freezer until frozen. Yum!!

This thread is a great idea WW!

You guys eat so fancy! I really do keep it simple. Protein and a Veg. at a meal and fruit either before or after.

I will have my half of a pink grapefruit at noon and at 1:00 PM I will eat my chicken breast and chomp on my celery sticks.

Tonight I am having scallops and either asparagus or cukes. Depends on how I feel when I get home. Then I have my strawberries about an hour later.

I know...*boring*...but that's how I roll...

You have the best menus. I feel like I've done something if I make the p2 chili.

I'm a weirdo. I have to have pretty food displayed on pretty plates or I feel like I'm missing out on something So, my dinnerware has to have the theme of the protein I'm eating So, todays dinner will be served on a pretty fish plate with my strawberries in a fish shaped bowl and my lunch will be in a mexican style bowl with my apples in a margarita glass Yeah, I really do need to get a life!

? Are scallops on protocol? or is that a YMMV thing. I didnt notice them and don't have the printout in front of me. I haven't used them yet and that might be a nice addition.

They are NOT! Crap! Hubby will be happy tho...he will have ALL of them tonight. For some reason I thought they were. Must have been thinking of the shrimp which I can't eat because it wreaks havoc with my tummy.

Here I was thinking I was all on protocol all along and Sunday night I had an off plan protein...oh the horrors! It didn't affect my loss on MON, but I only had a 0.2 loss on Tuesday so maybe it did. Who knows. Water under the bridge....just won't repeat that!:blush::blush:

Help !

Ok, does this sound right? This is my first day of VLC so I want to be sure I am eating correctly

B- tea with 1 pack sweetner and 1tbp of milk (11 cal)

L-grilled chicken breast (110 cal), 1 med apple (95 cal), 2 melba toast (20 cal)
225 cal total for lunch

D- baked Tilapia (100 cal), 6-10 strawberries (30 cal), 2 melba toast (20 cal)
150 cal total for dinner

So that leave 114 calories for some type of veggies with lunch and dinner??

Lunch - p2 chili and an apple
dinner - I am thinking of trying some cottage cheese, or eggs, haven't decided yet. Dill pickles for my veggie. My fruit will be strawberry smoothie (my treat every night!)

(for those who don't know, I omit the grissini due to gluten issues)

I never count calories, just go for a reasonable veggie portion.

Oneoftwo- I'd read the label on your melba toast? are you sure 2 are only 20 calories? I thought they were 20 a piece? and aren't we only supposed to have 1? or? I haven't used the grissini in weeks now. They spoke to me from my pantry and I didn't like that feeling I weigh my apples and they turned out to be less calories than the general small medium or large options on the calorie sites. Just an fyi. You've got plenty of calories left for some yummy veggie. Enjoy them! I eat half a 10 oz bag of spinach per meal and 4-6 oz of asparagus. Really helps make my meals complete.

My box says

4 pieces is 50 calories. They are the round one
Oops so I guess that is 25 for two, not 20 calories

For lunch I had 100g beef with cabbage (Not all that tasty, but not terrible either, and it sure did fill me up!), apple with cinnamon (My new love! I could hardly wait for lunch time to get here!), and my Melba toast with WF chocolate spread (another LOVE). For dinner tonight I think I'm going to try to cottage cheese as well. Think I'll make it sweet and add in my strawberries. And a big organic tomato for my veggie. Afterwards I'm going to take my little man to our local amusement park for a few hours. It'll be nice to get my mind off of food, and I'm sure we'll have a blast.

Well, I'm pretty boring. I'm craving chili, I think I'll make that tomorrow OR try the chorizo. Do you make that with ground beef? Do you eat it plain or wrap in lettuce?

Lunch -
Grilled Chicken w/ Franks Hot Sauce
1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Grapefruit

Dinner
(Organic Grass Fed-less fat) Bunless Burger
Asparagus Spritz with Braggs
Apple slices sprinkled with Cinnamon

GREAT idea for a thread, WW!

I'm not sure why but I'm on a soup kick. I think they fill me up more for longer and I just feel better and less hungry when I eat them. I want to attempt to make a mock mini meatloaf tomorrow.. that should be interesting

Today:
Spicy Beef & Celery Soup + 1 Garlic Grissini
3oz ground beef, 3oz diced celery, 1 small clove of garlic, dash of dried onion flakes, couple of dashes tapatio hot sauce, garlic salt, water.

1 Apple

Dinner will be:
Spicy Chicken & Tomato Soup + 1 Grissini
Grilled chicken breast, tomatoes, garlic, onion flakes, garlic salt, tapatio hot sauce & water.

1 Small Orange

At least 112oz of water today.

I saw Chorizo and was all I'm going to have to make your recipe! Do you add the apple in too or did you just list that because you ate an apple?

Where do you get the chipotle? Is it a seasoning or a sauce? I forgot about lettuce wraps - great idea!

Also, I see a couple of things that are flags to me but YMMV (Your Milage May Vary) so take it with a grain of salt.

1. Melba should only be 1 piece not two.
2. You may be able to up your protein too because I noticed you listed the calories for the meat but not the oz or grams. The protocol says about 100 grams of protein per meal. Keep in mind, even though you had a lot of calories left - some veggies are a lot of calories.

Use ****** to keep a food log - plug in all of your meals for the day, it will calculate the calories and you can play with the portion size until you have used up your 500 calories. That's what I do and it helps a lot.

Your menu looks great though - keep up the awesome work!

REALLY? Maybe I'll try it tomorrow.

I'd love to try something new. Especially after my crappy dinner tonight. To top it off, I had to watch my kids eat at my favorite restaurant TWICE today and I'm feeling very grumpy and deprived.

BUT I didn't go off Protocol. I'm sure tomorrow when I step on the scale I will be happy about that.

Good for you! I know how hard that is. Yes, you will be happy tomorrow when you have another loss instead of a gain.

I would try the cottage cheese at least once to see if you like it. I think I will have it from time to time as a nice change to my protein. It really was yummy too!

Thanks MBB. I needed a pat on the back.

I'm going to try it for lunch tomorrow. I have some cottage cheese in the fridge! How much cocoa powder did you put in?

I just eyeballed the cocoa and stevia. Maybe less than a tablespoon of cocoa - ? Not sure. The cottage cheese is only 100g which isn't much so you won't need much cocoa and sweetener.
