preparing for R1
I have about 3 weeks until I start R1P2. I am trying to do as much research as I can to be fully prepared. I noticed while reading the recipe thread that some call for xanthum gum and miracle noodles for P2 recipes. It's not listed on protocol (but I'm sure the products weren't around then) Does anyone use these?
Also, does anyone spread their daily alloted food throughout the day, being careful to not have both fruits, protein or melba toast together, but just spreading it all out (i.e. grazing). Still waiting for drops I know, I have 3 weeks, but I will feel better when I have them in hand!!Thanks!

I graze like crazy - my body hates long intervals between meals.
For R1 I'd recommend sticking purely to the protocol; while the miracle noodles, Walden Farms sauces and other items are calorie free, your body may process them differently so that they react like the real thing. General concensus is to do R1 exactly by the book/protocol: don't deviate the first run through. Subsequent rounds can be tweaked, but in the beginning stick to the rules. It's worked for most of us; some people have changed a few things as they went (ditching Melba toast/grissini because of gluten intolerances, switching to simpler/lower-fat meats because of no loss on the scale, experimenting with different sweetners etc) but keep to Protocol at least this first round. ![]()

Great advice, Sarah.
I have my first fruit late morning, then my last fruit about 7:30p. Other than that, I don't graze. I don't find I need to on this plan. (I omit the grissini due to gluten issues) |

J4, you'll do great!! There's no shame in tweaking things you don't think work for you, but I agree with all the hCG veterans who say you need at least one round done by the books to get a baseline and see what works (or doesn't) for you. I was going to cut out the fruit and Melba/grissini as I'm still in the LC mindset, but I've been losing GREAT keeping them in!
Remember to keep a journal of everything, including when you ate what. For example, some people find that eating their apple/fruit by itself gives them hunger cravings, while they're fine if they have it with the protein - for some of us (myself included) that's not an issue. Also some have adverse reactions to certain sweetners (cravings, zero weightloss etc) while others can have them to their heart's content. Journals and notebooks are your friend to tell trends. Good luck!! |
