MCT's are metabolized very quickly in the liver and are reported to encourage an increase in energy expenditure, while decreasing fat storage. Numerous studies suggest that substituting MCT Oil for other fats in a healthy diet may therefore help to support healthy weight and body composition...

I use coconut oil for my candida, which is mostly comprised of medium chain triglycerides. I like using the full coconut oil because I think there are some other good properties in the oil.

Simeon's wrote this plan a long time ago, and many things in this world have changed. Medicine had advanced by huge leaps and bounds. This plan, as developed by Dr. Simeon, was found to work as he had written it. But I don't believe that this diet CAN'T work with some modifications.

It's funny that during Simeon's time, they thought stomach ulcers were related to stress and eating spicy foods. Yet today we know that they are caused by a bacteria. This is just one example of how medicine changes so rapidly.

I have a medical background and know quite a bit about human physiology. I understand exactly how this diet works, and what makes it a potential "cure" for obesity. I also know that there are many people who have seen this diet all the way through P3 and then have gained back alot of weight over time. This was not because they didn't follow P2 or even P3 to the letter, but they began to resume their old dietary habits.

This diet is not the holy grail, there is no holy grail. But, I hope this to be as close as we can get to finding one (for right now!!!)

Just my 2 cents
I totally agree, and thank you I stated a disclaimer in my post about potential modifications that is was not on protocol and that I didn't recommend it, everyone should be able to decide for themselves.

I did, although I was scared to post it out of fear that it may not continue to be so beneficial. I cut the fruit and added coconut oil. I also (this may be TMI) had a visit from Bernice this morning which I know contributed. Here's to hoping!!

P2 Apple Parfait

Ingredients:

*Melba toast crumbles mixed with stevia powder

*Amazing applesauce made with no extra water
(baked apples blended w/cinnimon and stevia)

*3/4 c cottage cheese blended with cinnamon and stevia to taste. ("cheese cake")

Layer the crumbs at the bottom, then "cheese cake", then apples sauce, then repeat. Chill for 1/2 hr. min.

Really feels like cheating! The cottage cheese is counted as your protein.

Applesauce!!!!
This is super easy to make! Chop your apple minus 2 slices for garnish. Put in oven with lots of cinnamon and 1/4c water and 4-6 drops stevia. cook at 375 for 20 mins or until soft. Place all in blender (not the slices) and blend until smooth or chunky, whichever u like garnish with slices and eat hot, or place in fridge to make cold. eat the garnish with the applesauce on them.. mmmm... sooo good!!!
Thanks Dawn look good ! when I did cottage cheese I only did 1/2 CUP , so I am liking this recipe lots better.

I did an apple day today because I stalled yesterday and I only have one more spray day left before I'm on to p3. I think I did it wrong though but nothing I can do about it now.... I have a question about p3 (again) - Obviously I am doing 2 vlcd's after my last spray day tomorrow and start p3 for real on Sunday. Can I just go for it Sunday in terms of the p3 foods or should I go slowly at first? Just want to make sure I don't gain, etc. I was thinking of tuna with mayo and celery, eggs, bacon, cheese, and maybe some chicken wings for dinner or the rotel dish (and some berries in there somewhere). Does that sound right? Too much or too little?

I also don't suggest doing an apple day so close to your LDW!!! It could give you a false lower number to try and stick with. When I did the apple day (I did it on 2 of my rounds) I did indeed have a loss the very next day, but the next day I had a slight rebound from eating "real food"!!! So, it is my suggestion for everyone to NOT do the apple day at the very end of a round!!

And, out of the gate is the way to go for me!!! But I put the brakes on right after my morning cup of coffee with cream. I had not even gotten to my bacon and eggs and cheese when my tummy rebelled against my food of choice in my coffee. My stomach could not handle all the fats again!! So I had to take probiotics, 1 before each meal, for the first 3 days of P3. Then after that I brought it down to 1 a day. I hope you don't have bathroom troubles your first day of P3. If you do, I highly suggest the probiotics--they worked instantly. Good luck!!!!

Starbucks question for Dawnyama

Hi Dawn,

Is there anything in an unsweetened black tea lemonade that is not ok to have on P2?

I'm seriously thinking of breaking up my spray into 2 rounds instead of going straight through. How long is the minimum again? 21 or 23 days? I did only 1 loading day, so only one day of spraying before I started the VLCD's. I just don't think, the way I'm feeling mentally now, that I can go 45-50 days, (which is how long the spray is supposed to last).

I think this is really important. It takes consistent focus to stay on any plan (not my strong point). I'm gearing up for it mentally as I wait for the hcg to arrive. I can't remember the last time I committed to a plan for several weeks, so if I do it, I want to do it right.

Just my 2 cents
I agree with your post-I know a few of people (1 woman and 2 men) who lost A LOT of weight on their rounds...then proceeded to gain it back because of going back to bad habits. One of the guys even gained more than he originally lost. That's gotta hurt...
But, on a positive note, like I posted a couple of pages ago-I know other people who have had tremendous success and have kept the weight off!
It is up to each of us, individually, to decide the path that we will take on our journey, and I feel that nobody should sit on a high-horse and feel like they have a right to judge the decisions of others. After all, it's our own bodies that we are affecting-our choices do not hurt each other...we can only hurt ourselves if we make a "bad choice" or tweak the diet in a way that prevents losses, etc...
There are people here who are considered "authority figures" on the protocol, and they are to be commended on their successes, and it is smart to at least listen to their advice and wisdom...Like Dawn...(you rocked this protocol, girl!) but I believe that Dawn even said that what works for her might not work for others, even though she is an "as written" kind of girl! I like hearing about the different things that work for different people. For example: on a different thread, last-year, someone who was considered a "senior, go-to HCG guru" said that we could absolutely NOT have Splenda-it had to be Stevia, and that we could not use Montreal Seasonings?! Well, if I personally would have listened to her and her alone, it would have made my P2's a heck of a lot harder to handle!!
I would just like to see everyone support each other, use positive reinforcement, and play nicely!
I think it's so great to have this venue to share, teach and learn with each other!

I agree too Superfreak.

Technically, anyone using homeopathic HCG is not doing the plan "as written"!

I think we'll see more and more food plans used in conjunction with HCG. I have four different diet plans sitting on my desk at work that have come from various clinics across town (clinics offering the Rx). Although I've not had a chance to look at them in detail, they are all vastly different. I glanced at one that caught my eye, the day starts off with a 300 calorie protein breakfast! In others words, Dr. Simeons Protocol isn't the only successful HCG plan out there.

But since this thread is about Simeons HCG Protocol, it seems perfectly logical to me for the vetarans to remind the newbies what that Protocol entails. Otherwise, you know us newbies, we'll be all over the place Give me an inch and I'll probably take a mile. Then claim the plan is totally crap and didn't work.

As a newbie I'm going to come in here and see someone using coconut oil then go back and try to find it in my book. I'm not saying it's wrong for that person to be using coconut oil, doesn't matter to me one bit. I just want to know exactly what the plan calls for.

Speaking of the book....my copy of Pounds and Inches shows "One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast" I saw someone else said two and I'm not sure how it came to be two. Maybe it's somewhere else in the manuscript and I missed it.

My good news for the day is I released yet another pound today to make 8.4 in 9 days! I'm starting to feel the difference too!

dawn - hopefully it won't mess me up too much to have done the apple day so close to p3!! I did it yesterday and was down 1.3 this am. My last spray day was supposed to be today and then 2 days of vlcd without spraying but TOM came this am so I decided that I may as well stop spraying and go ahead to vlcd's without spraying today. So today is day one of vlcd before p3. I'm hoping maybe because I do those 2 days that the apple day number won't be false but we'll see!!! I'll be having coffee for the first time this am. I'm sure I will have tummy issues so I need to get the probiotics. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Released 0.4 today!!! SO EXCITED!!! Gracie is a genius...I lowered my hCG dose two days ago and have had slightly more hunger (bc I seriously had ZERO before), and have made the other adjustments I mentioned before (mostly dropping some of the carbs and upping the protein/fat portions a tad while staying right at 500 cals). PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS, and if you do it is at your own risk. ALL NEWBIES SHOULD FOLLOW STRICT PROTOCOL!!!!!
