I'm a little behind and not sure if anone answered this.

The pain...could it be related to gallbladder? Many times gallbladders really freak out on both Atkins and on any very low calorie diet. On atkins because all of the sudden they need to go into overdrive, and on low calorie because the bile starts to backup with nothing to do. I don't know that that's related but thought I'd mention it.

When you stop taking it, are you changing your diet or still eating on protocol?

Have you backed down on your dosing? Wondering if you are very sensitive if the reactions are related to diet.

Please, please, if you are dizzy, try salt. People with low blood pressure really get quite dizzy when low calorie or ketosis, because the most immediate effect is about a 10% drop in blood pressure. Next time it happens, see if a cup of chicken broth helps...

I feel like binging :(

I've been an emotional eater in the past and today I experienced something that made me a bit touchy. I've had 2 cans of Diet Rite (I've been trying to stick with water) and some broken up Melbas (over and above my normal lunch Melba).

I know it isn't the end of the world, but I seriously feel I could go on a full-tilt binge any second. I'm not especially hungry - just emotional.

:ap fix a cup of hot tea that will take you a while to sip and if you need a soda fix another time try a zevia made with stevia and doesn't seem to trigger the cravings in me that even the ones with splenda do me you have done so well don't mess it up so close to P3! hang in there

What did you substitute the melba and fruit with? I saw mac nuts mentioned, anything else?

Sassy --- it is best to start the protocol exactly the way it is written. Both Paula and I have insulin resistance which is why we have discussed tweaking. We have also both done it as written for a good while (I am on VLCD19 and have not tweaked yet, am just considering it). PLEASE do not tweak, even if you are IR, until you see that the protocol does not work well for you as written. The VAST majority of people who lose successfully on HCG do so following Simeon's Protocol. Mutantmom is a great example. She follows is to the letter and look at her losses! Please do not tweak right out of the gate.

Thanks Deb. I think I've worked passed it now. It was just so intense for a while.


I agree with the no tweaking part! That is a big part of the reason Atkins didn't end up being a good solution for me. I had done Atkins so much that I knew all the tweaks and it was hard for me to even get through a clean induction without tweaking it. I wasn't losing, and I realized it was because of all the substitutions and additions I'd done.

I hear ya girl, but I just looked at your journal and your losses on LC alone have been WAY ABOVE AVERAGE, mine were a lot slower than yours there too. I did notice you said that "continual losses of more than 2lb/day" are common or something, but I want to report that that is WAY above the average. In P&I Dr. S states that 0.5lb/day is AVERAGE for women, so even with my slow losses I am still above average. Just wanted to throw that in because even though I "know" it, I have still been disappointed with my losses. We have to keep our eye on the big picture with this diet by trying not to compare ourselves and by making sure we look at our rounds as a whole and not at it week by week per say...just my two cents.

For the melba I actually substituted nothing, it's only like 20 calories.

For the fruit, I upped my fat. I am still choosing all the same proteins, but adding butter to whatever sauce I'm using, and occasional coconut oil for my candida problems.

Definitely not protocol, but it's making me feel okay. Definitely not touching nuts right now...lately it's only given me terrible gas/bloating (probably the candida).

Isn't that the truth?!? It's horrible!! I say it tastes like hay and I feel like a horse when I chug it down. Stevia doesn't even really help the taste but, the tea seems to help hunger and energy.

i don't know what kind you guys got but mine is really good guayaki or some brand like that i got plain , yerbe mate royale(already has stevia in it0 and the mate chocolate

That's the brand I have too - a yellowish box/bag, right? I'm glad you like it! Right now I'm sipping iced pomegranate green tea w/ stevia. Refreshing and I like the zing the green tea gives me.

So I haven't updated my side info - but I was 157.4 this morning - WAY up because I am on day 2 of loading and I've had a hideous amount of sugar, salt, fat, and everything else in between.

I can tell that my body recognizes the HHCG because my coffee taste has already turned on me. I didn't even drink mine this morning, it's that gross to me. So I'm going to transition to the green teas - try at least. Anyway I wanted to make the point that I'm sure my body recognizes the HHCG quicker now that I've done it a time or two. Kind of like my body says "Oh - HCG - you again? We know what to do with you..."

I'll admit that I still used Mocha Mix on P2 last round (NO - IT'S NOT ON PROTOCOL) since I can't do milk and I'm a panty-waist coffee drinker anyway - it needs to be very beige and very sweet. I know that held me back a little but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make. This time, so close to getting down to where I've always wanted to be, I'm going to be really careful. Hcground1 you're my inspiration - I know you didn't go even 1 calorie over!

I'm going to spend the rest of the day weighing, portioning, and cooking. DH is doing this with me too and it's SO much easier to have it all done ahead of time.

Dawn - you look FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing your pictures and for the inspiration it gives us all!

Just wanted to pop back in here and say THANK GOD I am feeling better today. I was really worried I'd have to go to the emergency room and explain to some ER doctor that I'm on hcg. Don't even want to imagine that conversation.

I totally love my yerba mate.

I like to drink it iced. I've been drinking it for years, and think it's miles away better than green tea, so much less bitter.

It all must be a matter of taste!

hahahahaha! That would have been funny. When I did my round I had to get blood work done for my thyroid and I remember thinking "oh great, they're gonna call and tell me I'm pregnant and then I'll have to explain to them that I'm on the hcg diet." lol

Oh that's a good point. Im going to have to get my TSH levels checked here again real soon. The Dr does not know Im on HHCG. Do you think it will change my TSH levels?

I just wanted to pop in and make some comments. I did 10 days hcg 3 weeks ago, just couldn't do any more. I know, stupid, weak, etc might pop in your mind, but I have quit beating myself up. I guess I just wasn't ready. I kept my loss off, except for a weekend with a wedding and a party I gained a couple back, but it came right back off along with a little more doing low carb.
I have been keeping up with all of you but not posting because I didn't want to bring anything negative to all of you. But I just had to give all of you "losers" a thumbs up and all of you veterans too for being such great help to everyone. I am still thinking I might give it another go, but want to try another brand and am still researching, etc. And want to be TOTALLY committed, too!
My daughter was doing it with me, she was really sick. From the things that have been on here the last few days, I'm thinking she might have had the candida die-off or something similar. Also, since we stopped we have both been visited by TOM, and I had the worst cramps(and at night of all time!) I have had in a very long time. And she had the worst she has had in a while, and she said for a longer time. I was wondering if the short stint on hcg was the reason?? Just curious if that is a common thing.
Oh, one more question....it has been 3 weeks since my last dose......if I decided to I could start again anytime now, right?
Again, congrats on all the losses, and big kudos to all of you that offer such great support and advice!

? I haven't been using ****** or any other source for calorie counts. So, today I entered in my proteins and because of my fish, my protein calorie count is very low (I guess?) so, to get to my 500 calories do I add to my dinner veggie portion? fruit size? I appreciate any information on filling up the calories when we're below 500.

Down a little over 7 pounds today after only 8 days

Congrats to everyone else releasing like crazy!

One thing I've noticed the past couple of evenings is diminished night sweats (I'm post menopause). I actually turned my fan OFF last night because I was cold. Can't even remember the last time I did that.
