Low carb loading days?
First off, can someone please tell me what VLCD stands for?
The more I read this thread, the more excited I get. Friday I will have officially finished an Induction and was hoping to start using the HCG by then (if it arrives). But I'm curious about eating on loading days: I know fats are important and do NOT plan on skrimping on that, but do I need the carbs? I've gotten past (to the best of my knowledge) any flu-like detox/ketosis symptoms and I'd rather not go through that again. If anything I'd like to keep loading limited to HF, low-sugar foods and maybe add a carb like oatmeal if I need to. Or should I just go all out and eat pizza, Coldstone ice cream and cheesecake everything like I'm dreaming about? Is loading more a mental thing than purely physical? I don't want to screw this up but I also don't want to screw ME up by having sugar cravings etc once I start dosing.

VLCD: very low cal day
fat is your primary focus for loading. no need to carb load. a lot of ppl use it as an opportunity to eat foods they (will) miss. but its perfectly fine to just low carb/high fat. and probably a great way to beat the brain fog headaches a lot of ppl complain about at first |

Thanks so much for posting your recipes they look so good . I have gluten issues and my grandson who is four , has big problems with wheat, gluten, dairy, and soy. I hope your recipes are ones I can tweak with rice cheese and if it works for them , it will probably work for some pizza crust recipes I have . I am just starting P4 so it will be fun to test new recipes . Your doing great on HCG, keep up the good work and thanks again .![]() Janeann |

Hello all. I'm still doing really well, I'm not posting much because I just can't (with all the food obsession I have) read all the posts about the foods I can't have...
I am doing really well, I think a little too well. I'm already down 21lbs my weight loss has not slowed down, the least I've lost is 1.4lbs several days ago. My question is: what happens if I go over the 45lbs? At this rate it is possible, when I hit 45 should I increase my intake? My 23rd day will be the 31st. I've also increased my drops to 12, I find that I don't have as much food obsession now (though there still is some) but this is helping me get through the evenings much easier. Thanks for the input, I've not read the previous posts, but I know this is very effective so GOOD JOB to all those losers. Stay strong all. |

MMo4, serious congrats on your weight loss!!! Incredibly inspiring and I'm crossing my fingers I can do something similar when my time comes!!
![]() The way you described it makes me wonder if there's a maximum amount of weight a person can lose on this diet? I didn't remember reading that in the protoc but I've only read it once then skimmed parts I needed. Is one's goal supposed to be finite? Still, SUPER congrats lady, you're a total inspiration!!! ![]() ETA: What day are you on (diet-wise)? Last edited by sassy_red; 07-20-2010 at 05:16 AM.. |

I spent most of yesterday sleeping. I'm still weak today but I'm out of bed. I sent dh out and now I've got my supplements ready to go for today. I didn't weigh myself yesterday (!!!) but today I was down 1 pound for a net loss of 8.5.

Lee Anne, don't give up girl! My losses are slowing too, but stick with it, we can do this! I love watching your vlogs so don't stop vlogging!
MM.... wow, didn't you start after me? And already 21 lbs. down?! I think that's amazing! According to P&I, you should move to P3 at 34 lbs. lost, but you have to stay on P2 at least 3 weeks. Then you must stay on P3 NO sugar or starch for at least 3 wks. and then another 3 weeks of either P3 or P4 before going on to R2 of P2. HTH! ETA... If it were me I wouldn't worry about finishing out my round losing more than 34 lbs., but I would be very sure to take a 6 wk. P3 break before moving to R2 of P2. Load with what you want! My first round I loaded very low carb because I wanted to use up food in the house and do it on the cheap. Not go out and spend money on fast food and such. My second round I did it differently--went to Starbucks, Coldstone because we can without a bit of guilt!!!! LOL. Both rounds went really well. So do what you want. The first round I made a bunch of cheesy fatty things, like Linda Sue's white castle pie, sugar free chocolate cheesecake, had a ton of coconut oil and eggs. The things I would be missing that were high fat. Lots of nuts too!! Enjoy!!

Good going!! I know there is a limit on how much you should lose on a round. Maybe when Deb shows up she can find it. She is real good at posting those things. Unfortunately it was not something I had to worry about!!! Once you lose the max weight you can on a round, you up your calories to 800 until you finish the required 21/23 days. But with that, you might even still lose. All I can say is....good on ya girl!!! |

So early this morning I figured out why I'm retaining water.
Looks like I have my monthly visitor!! So much for starting this right when the HCG gets here. On the upside though if I time it perfectly my 21-day round won't have any interruptions! ![]() Quick question as I don't have the protocol in front of me (I'm on my phone): do we begin taking the HCG on our loading days or immediately following them (on day 1 of VLCD)? |

I just re-read your post, I thought we could cycle, that is doing P3 and then cycling right back to P2 if we have a lot to lose (I have over 100lbs, well I did 21lbs ago). I was planning on cycling right after P3...not doing P4, but certainly not doing an additional 3 weeks of P3, I will go back and read again, 6 weeks between seems like such a long time. Thanks for the input guys, I have a physician appt on the 30th, my doc is going to be amazed. ![]() |

I know I should not worry, I know this is all good, but I'm wondering about putting it back on in P3. Ok, I think this sound like a plan, when I hit 40lbs (if I hit, I could still average out in the next 2 weeks) I will up my calories to 800 for the last few days...that sounds right. Thanks. |

So very glad to see you post this morning...I did a search on you this morning to see where you'd been! Was gonna send a PM, but went to work early. Thought I'd see this afternoon if you were here. Good to see your progress....PLEASE...rethink the whole P4 thing. I did not do it the 1st round, and although I had NO PROBLEM STABILIZING....I am DEFINATELY goint to do it this round. I think I will also need to do 1 more round after that. P4 was meant to teach us a LOT OF THINGS!! Go back 1 or 2 pages and find my humble opinion. ![]() JAN |

I meant to post this yesterday when I saw the pics but I think I forgot... You look great Dawn!!!!! Such a change from the avi pic
Quick question - I think a few of you are using the same hhcg spray as I am where you aren't allowed coffee. Can you tell me if it's ok for me to have the coffee on the 2 days that I'm on vlcd after I'm done spraying? Obviously I can wait if I'm not supposed to have it but would love to add it back in as soon as I'm done spraying

Lunch: radishes (7) 3.5oz shrimp 1 small apple and 2 melba
Dinner: lettuce (NOTHING ON IT BUT 1 TBSP VINEGAR) 3.5oz chicken, I simply place this in a nonstick pan and cook, nothing on it, nothing in the pan, 1 small apple and melba. I've eaten the same two meals daily (I made the mistake of mixing my radishes and lettuce in a single meal in the beginning, I'm not doing that now and the losses are actually less daily). And I drink 128oz of water (PLAIN, right from the tap) daily. No tea. I've had strawberries twice (the second time was when I saw the 1.4lb loss) so I'm not using them either. I don't use spices, I don't use recipes, my food is very plain, but easy to cook and easy to manage for me. ![]() |
