When I used whole (not ground) chicken pieces, I bought the tenders, so it was pretty easy to get to 3.5 ounces.

There are little beef medallions that tend to be right around the correct weight.

Otherwise, yeah, I was snipping pieces here and there!

I just finished cutting up all my foods for camping, chicken pieces, celery,cucumbers,lettuce, homemade dressing, apples,oranges,asparagus,green onions, and a case of water. I'm set!
