FYI:

List of Foods Containing Gluten

Grains
Grains are gluten in its most natural form, so avoid:

* Barley, including barley malt
* Bran
* Bulgur
* Couscous
* Farina
* Kamut
* Orzo
* Semolina
* Spelt
* Tabbouli
* Wheat

Pastas
Any pasta, whether elbow macaroni, bowtie, spaghetti, rigatoni, or any other shape, that is made of:

* Wheat
* Semolina
* Farina

Baked Goods
Most processed baked goods are made from wheat, so these contain gluten. Look for gluten free alternatives to these goodies:

* Cake
* Bread
* Cupcakes
* Tortillas
* Bagels
* Sandwich buns
* Hotdog buns
* Pizza crust

Cereal
Cereal made from rye, wheat, bran, and barley always contain gluten, but ones containing oats, corn, and rice are often processed on the same equipment as their gluteny counterparts. It is imperative that you look for the "gluten free" label on cereal.

Meat and Poultry
In its natural state, meat and poultry is gluten free. However, the processing and cooking of the meat often adds gluten. Be wary of any meat or poultry that is precooked or prepared, especially these types:

* Breaded meat or chicken
* Oven- or deep-fried meats
* Hot dogs and other meats processed with "natural flavors"

ETA: And surprisingly, Hot Chocolate...

If you're a fan of milky, chocolatey drinks, you're liking craving a gluten free hot chocolate recipe. On the service, it looks easy enough. After all, chocolate is gluten free, milk is gluten free... so what's the problem? The problem, it turns out, is that many commercial hot chocolate mixes use wheat as a filler and thickener.

Who knew???

And, in reverse,

Foods that don't contain Gluten:

Meat and veggies that aren't breaded or fried with gluten-containing ingredients.

Grains and Flours
Grains are the really tricky part of gluten free living. Most common flours contain wheat, so they are off-limits to those who live the gluten free lifestyle. However, there are gluten free alternatives. Although some of these are not normally considered to be grains, they can be used to make gluten free flour and so are included here.

* Acorn
* Almond
* Amaranth
* Arrowroot
* Artichoke (may be used to make flour)
* Beans (used in many gluten free flours)
* Buckwheat
* Cassava
* Chickpeas (made into flour)
* Coconut (used in flours)
* Corn
* Corn flour
* Cornmeal
* Cottonseed
* Dal
* Fava bean
* Flaxseed
* Gram flour
* Hominy
* Hominy grits
* Job's tears
* Kasha
* Lentils
* Manioc
* Millet
* Milo
* Modified corn starch
* Potato (used to make flour)
* Quinoa
* Rice
* Rice couscous
* Risotto
* Sago
* Sesame
* Sorghum
* Sweet potato (may be ground into flour)
* Taro flour
* Soy
* Tapioca

Thanks, I have skipped it so far. Better to be safe and I don't miss the 20 calories.

I do miss the crunch, though. My low carb subs won't come into play until Phase 3.

Oh, yes! I looooooooove crispy cheese! Pepperoni nuked until crunchy is great too, but I have to down the water to wash out the salt and nitrates.

Have you tried the baked cheese? OMGooooooooooood!

Juusto Jalapeno Wisconsin Cheese
It's a word new to the American vocabulary and a cheese new to the palate. Pronounced HOOstah-lee-pah, which means "bread cheese," Juusto is a flat, squeaky cheese with a very buttery flavor. This baked specialty cheese has been produced in Finland, Sweden, and Lapland for over 200 years. The baking process forms a sweet caramel crust, similar to bread, that not only coats the cheese but helped to name it. This baking step during the cheesemaking process produces Juusto's trademark flavor and appearance.

Juusto cheese can be stored in the refrigerator for up to ten months or frozen for up to one year. Juusto is delicious served warm or cold. Juusto cheese doesn't melt, but it can be warmed (including in a microwave for 10 to 20 seconds, until it glistens).

The plain, regular flavor is amazing, too!

NOW I really need that drooling smiley!

Well. I've lived in WI, and I have to say that the cheese that you can buy in the local cheese shops there far surpasses (almost) anything you can buy in any regular grocery store. Hands down. No comparison. I loooooove me some good cheese.

My exceptions as far as decent cheese found in a grocery store would be extra sharp cracker barrel, and tillamook. (The Tillamook factory in Oregon is so awesome to visit btw. You get free samples. )

Update: Now I'm dreaming of the cheddar you can get that's been aged for 6+ yrs. (drooling...)

Have you considered using one of the Gluten Free Goddesses cracker recipes and just cutting them to the correct size for P2? I've made one of her cracker recipes in the past and I thought they were great! This is the one I made, I bet you could change it up a bit to make it safe for P2. If you use the egg instead of the egg-replacer it will add some much needed moisture and then you could probably sub the olive oil with unsweetened applesauce. Leave out the potato starch and just use an extra Tbl of one of the other flours instead...

I've probably mentioned this before, but I cut my apple into thin slices and munch them all day long, not in one sitting. Hunger will pass tho!

That's a good idea to munch on the apple all day long. I haven't tried that yet. The hunger is getting better every day thank goodness!! That's how I know this is working! I'm not as hungry and I have just as much energy . No way that could be happening if I were truly "consuming" 500 cals a day!!

Joining this thread....I tried HCG about a year or so ago, but only did it half-heartedly so lost a few pounds and stopped. I just was not in it physically and mentally...this time I am. I am heavier now than I have ever been. Just ordered mine today...can't wait for it to get here. Going to read the Pounds and Inches to make sure I remember everything to do and not do. Just saying hey!

I have used one 70 calorie rice cake a day with no gains . I spread on Waldon Farms peanut butter ,not the greatest ,but much better with the W Farms raspberries jam on top of it, and with a large cup of coffee a very satisfying morning meal .

Just needed to chime in and say that I have decided to go homeopathic for my next round! It'll be a shorter round - about 30 days, so a good opportunity to see if it works for me.

Also, am going through laptop withdrawal!!!

I saw some yesterday, I think it was in Cost Cutter or Fred Myer (Western Washington). Next time I am in those stores I will try to get a pic of them and the brand name.

I've lost my weight so I'm not doing this plan but my 17 year old niece is staying with me to finish out her upcoming senior year and she's doing this program for the summer (with her parents approval of course). She wants to look good for all her upcoming senior stuff. I had to go drive her to pick up her drops the other day. Horrible part of town and the bottle looks like somebody 'made' it up in the garage or something.

I'm not opposed to this plan at all but I think it would be great if a reputable and respectable place like Netrition offered the drops. I would feel so much better about it if my niece was using drops from there.

I have a question about sunscreen. I posted above that my 17 year old niece is doing this plan for the summer. I live on the beach and she is spending a large amount of time in the sun. She is also refusing to put on sunscreen. You all know so much more about this than I do. Do you think it would completely ruin her progress if she used it? Skin cancer runs in our family.

Why in the world is she refusing sunscreen? Show her some pics of 35 year old women who look 65! She is at an age where she wants to be treated as an adult but is acting like a child. Neutrogena makes some great spray on sunscreens that are oil free and super easy to apply.

Unless she is refusing because of the protocol? That's not childish, just uninformed. Lots of oil free sunscreens! It's SO important!
