HCG Diet questions

My doctor has recently recommended that I start a 40 day round of the HCG diet. I have thyroid disease and PCOS and am trying to get (and stay) pregnant.

My (thyroid) doctor recommended that I do the homepathic hcg because my fertility doctor is wanting to do an IUI in about 60-90 days and he believes the homepathic hcg vs the injectable hcg will keep my hormones from being too out of whack when it comes time to start insemination in a few months.

I have read Dr. Simeon's book and I have a few questions. 1) Does the homepathic hcg seem to work as well as the normal injectable version of hcg? 2) Does the VLCD protocols have to be followed to the letter (as it mentioned in Pounds & Inches) in order to maximize weight loss.

My main concern is that on low carb I have only been able to lose weight following a very low carb, higher fat diet program. I understand that you will be burning a lot of "bad fat" during this diet for fuel, I guess it just seems so strange to me after so many years of bacon, macadamia nuts, butter & olive oil to be cutting fat out so completely.

I guess I am hoping for some reassurance from people with experience on this diet program.

Thanks,

Courtney

Hi Courtney!

If you go to the current HCG thread and read through it, you'll find lots of answers! There's a bunch of us there on it and we're getting some great results!

Thanks for the info! After posting I did start reading the HCG post. I was thinking it was mostly support/motivation, but after reading further I have started see the diet information worked in.

I'm sure I'll also need the support/motivation when I start on Monday.

Appreciate it and I'll hopefully see you guys over there.

Courtney

I just wanted to say Hi too!! I love Homeopathic hcg. It is the best!!! I have done all my rounds using it and it works!! I just told a poster with another question that you can do anything for 21 days--that is a short round. And you will lose weight best by following protocol EXACTLY!!!! Tweak it and you will not lose the maximum you should be losing!! Cannot wait for you to get started!!! Hope you load well--and that you load WHILE taking the hhcg!!!

dawnyama - I hope you don't mind if I tracked you down in this thread. Your PMs weren't not working and I really need to ask your advice about something.

This is Off Topic for an HCG diet thread ... yes, my question is about a doctor, but has NOTHING to do with HCG (I'm just a lurker, but please, oh, please, mods, please don't delete my question ... my DD's health may depend on it). I honestly don't know any other way to get in touch with Dawn.

Here's an edited version of the PM I tried to send:

Dawn, I've been going through some old medical-related threads, trying to find help for my 20 y/o daughter who is a biology major at USC in Columbia.

I noticed in an old thread from April 2009, that you had a D.O. in the Irmo area that you seemed very happy with. Do you still see her? If not, can you recommend someone comparable in the Columbia area?

My DD has had a variety of symptoms for going on 5 years now. Regular MDs haven't been any help at all. In fact, the doctor she went to recently in Columbia, just wanted to put her on Xanax the very first visit! Without knowing anything about her past medical history, without taking any tests, blood work or anything. This doctor thinks it's all in her head.

Anyway, we've been looking for a D.O. or homeopathic doctor in the Columbia area, and would love to have a positive recommendation from an actual patient.

My daughter's symptoms could be caused by a variety of things, maybe hormone-related, maybe anemia, maybe even food allergies. No one has been able to give us any real answers. But we'd love to have a doctor who will treat the whole body and not just someone who will address a symptom or two and prescribe another pill. Emily, my DD, would also really prefer a female doctor.

Anyway, Dawn (and mods!!) ... I really hate to be so much trouble, but if you have any advice to give, I would truly truly appreciate it. My DD has suffered so long and at this point I'd do anything to help her. Your old post from last April was like a beacon of hope for me.

Thank you!
(and I truly apologize for the threadjack ....

Thank you Deb for alerting me to this post!! I had no idea!! Anyhow, I see an MD, who is also a DO. Shie is NOT in the Irmo area--I drive 3 hours one way to see her!! When I have an appointment my DH takes the day off, I send my 4 yr old with his aunt and we travel!! She is in Travelers Rest and lives in NC. Here is her website:

Dr. E. Rosanne Diehl - Integrative Wellness for Women, Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

And these doctors at USC---yuck!! Wouldn't go there if I were dying!! I went there for a heat rash and was treated for that when all along it was yeast. Or was it the antibiotics she put me on was causing the yeast rash. Hmmmm..she had no idea and didn't entertain the idea that what she was giving me was harmful. Anyway, the health center at USC was no help to me either!!

Thank you so much, Dawn!

I've been almost afraid to come back to this thread, afraid I had made an hysterical fool out of myself ...

Would you believe, I actually discovered Dr. Diehl 5 or 6 years ago as one of the recommended doctors on thyroid-info.com? Back then she had a PA in the office with her named Jill. I suspected I was hypothyroid (still do) and was looking for a doctor who would prescribe Armour. Unfortunately, I never went to see her because she was so far away (4 hours from me), and doesn't take insurance (afraid out-of-pocket would be too expensive ... the old "I'm-not-worth-it-syndrome").

But now that it's my daughter's health at stake, the distance and expense don't matter to me. I just got off the phone with Emily and she's excited. I'm going to call Monday and see if I can make appointments for both of us sometime this summer, costs be damned. We're going to make a mom/daughter overnight trip out of it.

Thanks again so very very much, Dawn!

And I promise I won't threadjack this thread again!

You are so sweet Pinot. I just posted on another forum that our health is worth it. I did put this appointment off too too long too!! Now that I am getting my adrenals/thyroid/blood sugar worked out, it is time to address the other hormones. My sex hormones are out of whack and need to be looked at more in depth, but I chose last year to wait because I didn't want to pay the almost $200 for the test!! But this week it effected my marriage heavily with my whole attitude and when that is at stake be dam** with the expense!! I will tell you that I did not like some of the things she had to say (mostly that the high blood sugar readings I was getting was completely MY fault!! LOL), but they needed to be said by someone!!! It kicked my rear into gear and now I am 40 pounds lighter and addressing my issues. I wish you well!
