Hey Vic...it happened to me this past weekend...I was up .6 and then didnt lose anything the next day, then down .2 the next. Then today I was down 1.6lbs....its all about the water in the fat cells and your body breaking down the structure of the cells. I have some info..lemme go find it and I will post. Take a deep breath..meditate...relax....dry brush and take a long hot soak. Its completely normal.

I only have a stall shower, no tub, and dry brushing gives me broken capillaries.

Sigh.

At least I'm not hungry so I'm not tempted to cheat at all.

Ok....here it is. The weight registered by the scale is determined by two processes not necessarily synchronized. Under the influence of hcg fat is being extracted from the cells in which it is stored in the fatty tissue. When these cells are empty and therefore serve no purpose, the body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it, but breaking up of useless cells, connective tissue, blood vessels, etc....may lag behind in the process of fat extraction. When this happens the body appears to replace some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. as water is heavier than fat the scales may show no loss although sufficient fat has actually been consumed to make up for the deficit in the vlcd diet. When the tissue is finally broken down and the water is liberated there is a sudden flood of urine and a marked weight loss. This simple interpretation explains why on certain days they do not show any loss though they have commited no dietary error.

My interpretation would lead me to believe you are retaining water. Try drinking a gallon of green tea today along with your regular water.

I can understand the stalls. I mean, I had a stall yesterday and was okay because of that water weight explanation. But a gain sucks even though I'm pretty sure it's physically impossible to gain right now.

You are supposed to just lightly graze the skin with the brush. I have really sensitive skin, broken capillaries and all, so I started with a much longer bristle brush and then moved to the regular ones. The softer one has 2" bristles, very very flexible and the normal has 1" and is much stiffer. It is something everyone needs to work up to.

A stall is normal but a 2 pound gain isn't! Can you post your menus from the last two days including drinks, any lotions, spices, etc. Is TOM due? There's usually an answer and if we dig we can find it. I agree though, drink extra water today and stay away from salt. Also, could your scale need a new battery? Sometimes our scales get wonky if the battery is low.

Well, my scale is fairly new, so it's not that.

The biggest thing is that I have not slept well at all the last two nights. And sometimes I just stay up all night, but these two nights I was trying to sleep to no avail.

Last two days I haven't gotten any vegetables in except a half a cucumber. Just haven't been hungry and have forgotten about them.

Monday was 4 oz of chicken breast and 3 oz of round steak, both sauteed in water & hot sauce and salted with sea salt. Yesterday was 7 ounce of deli roast beef but it was a kind that was virtually fat free and had no sugar or starch additives. Two grissini on each day. An apple and a good handful of strawberries on both days. Lots of water.

Nothing different in lotions or anything, all my products are already oil-free, so I didn't change anything there. I have really sensitive skin so I'm pretty aware of the ingredients. TOM was last week and Bernice last visited Sunday night.

It could be the steak sitting there since there's no Bernice since Sunday. Out of all our protocol foods, I think beef is the hardest to digest and move along.

Nothing helps with my sleep issues. I've tried everything short of prescription stuff. And I don't want to try that because I tried Ambien once years ago and it made me hallucinate! I mean, really! Stuff was flying all around my bedroom, the floor was moving... it was very freaky!

Actually, I've been doing research and found out that the hypothalamus, in addition to having metabolism under its belt, also controls circadian rhythms! So, for me, weight issues and sleep issues are likely linked. The trick will be fixing it!

My doctor and I hope that if my metabolism is repaired, it will also reset the sleep thing.

Unfortunately the sleep is most likely the culprit BUT, I remember reading something about sea salt!!!! I can't remember what it was but I stopped using it so it wasn't good I've read so much that I forget where I get everything from. Let me try to find it but I definitely recall "something" that made me not use it.

ETA ~ Okay I looked and can't find anything on sea salt. But it's embedded in my brain for some reason!!!!

Melatonin works great for me - 3 mg a night if I can't sleep and I feel fine the next day.

Melatonin, l-tryptophan, 5HTP, magnesium, even a custom blended tincture from my doctor - none of it works.

The only thing that works is over the counter sleeping pills, but they don't work every night.

I haven't had a really good, solid, unmedicated night's sleep since September. I am hypothyroid, that doesn't help the sleep issues.

We're hoping that getting my thyroid levels optimized and losing weight helps.

Sorry you aren't getting good sleep. Sleep issues are known to exacerbate obesity and diabetes. Have you ever tried 5-htp ? It is made by your body after taking in tryptophan which is the stuff that makes you sleepy and full after a turkey dinner.

I think the hcg gives us a ton of energy. Finally the past two nights I have been able to get to sleep around 1 am without any sleep aids but this is after 3 weeks of protocol and trying OTR, melatonin and then 5-htp.

Yup. I may as well swallow a tic tac for all the good tryptophan or 5htp have done for me. No effect whatsoever at a variety of doses.

It's weird. I can feel really sleepy and yawn my fool head off. But when I lie down and close my eyes...nothing.

I've had insomnia all my life, but this is honestly the worst it's ever been.

Anyway, back on subject!

Ditto! I haven't slept a good night's sleep straight since I started menopause nine years ago! Tried EVERYTHING except the heavy duty drugs that make you do things in your sleep, although I did get a script for one but didn't take it. No driving naked to the store in my sleep for me!

So I usually take a PM pill or just the sleeping pill part which is actually benedryl! Amazing all the ways lack of good sleep can harm your health. UGH.
