Hope that helps!

Mandy-- Thanks! 3.6 pounds in 9 days is still great!

Doxie-- Dairy I bet is involved. Or maybe shear quantity of food and its mass-- perhaps some Bernice regularity may help clear that out Don't panic. Just make sure you stay in ketosis and you should be fine.

Forgot to add: I met my "wedding goal" early! It was to be 185 and I'm 184.2 today. The wedding is Saturday. I started at 191.4 before loading, 194.2 after.
Congrats on reaching your goal and beyond !

Thanks for all the tea suggestions. I like tea and everytime I go to the store I can't figure out which one to get.

Dr. Sam, thanks for the scientific perspective ! I know the hcg works for me because when I was pregnant I actually lost weight (I had apples everyday for a long while) and after I had my son, I weighed less than before I was pregnant and he was a healthy 8 pound boy ! I do wonder about tweaking individually because all of us are different. I am at a stage in my life where I am super carb sensitive and as soon as I taste something sweet, I go nuts. You gave me something to think about. I want to be able to do this protocol and feel good about my choices.

Speaking of Oopsies, I made a batch today use COTTAGE CHEESE instead of CREAM CHEESE and they were WONDERFUL!!! I made a small batch [usually I double the recipe] and made them sweet instead of savory. Good grief they are SO GOOD all by themselves!!! I also added the protein powder like I usually do.

I admit I did not divide the eggs per P2 protocol this time [I'm on P3 now but planning ahead for Round 2 already!], but I bet it would still work great. Since it would be the egg protein you can make crepes oopsies and add your fruit to them, fresh or smashed strawberries, applesauce perhaps? Or make them savory and add your veggie ... sliced tomatoes or spinach or asparagus or other things on the approved list. Each crepe, though, would not contain much egg at all so if you're rebellious and daring like me, you could actually just add some beef or chicken and call it ok. I'm sure I'll be trying it just to see what happens!!

Don't have to drink tea that I'm aware of, just an option. You don't like iced tea either?

How about homemade lemonade?

Water is great tho!!!

Did you see that HCG lemonade recipe on youtube ? You use the juice of one whole lemon, a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, stevia or sweetener to taste, sodium free club soda and ice. Very nice !

.

I don't know how Deb embeds the video on here...

Gracie and Sam - You girls are great, and you both make good points, but I know the hcg works for me. I am 61 years old, been over 230 for almost 17 years and was every diet I could find, including LA Weight Loss, Jennie Craig, WW, Master your Metabolism and you name it, I've been there and tried it. On most of these diets I could not even stick to them for 2 days straight, and I would start to have my cravings and binges kicked off. I started hcg, cold turkey, gave up the sugar, carbs, everything I was suppose to and pretty much from day 1, I have done just fine...no cravings, no binges, no hunger....off the injections now for several days, and still not hungry. I have been learning, right here, all about this woe and it is pure genius as far as I'm concerned. I have lost 34 pounds, BUT, I have gone down 3 bra sizes ..here's a good one for you..from a 44DDD to a 38D. I hated my big boobs and now they are great..haha! I was in a size 18 pants, or larger 16, and now I'm in a 12 and can wear the straight leg jeans like my daughter...yippee! So, there is something else going on here, that the hcg does and grabs the fat you want to get rid of like magic! I cannot wait to do Round 2!!!!!

Just a little of my6 week hcg experience..

Tina - great video...cayenne is great for metabolism as is cinnamon and I try to even put those 2 in my chili that I got from Gracie....is really very good! I have to thank you girls for that recipe as I eat it all the time and never get tired of it. Nice and spicy/sweet at the same time. I will keep eating it on P3, just more of it!!

Mandy - Tuna not on P2...at least not on my list.

Wishbone - you will overcome! I got the chili recipe from a few people here, and they are all very close, just how you choose to make it, etc. I took a pound of ground beef and a little onion and fry together and add 1 can of tomatoes (I used and fell in love with the Hunts fire roasted tomatoes). Whatever spices you want as long as there are no sugar in them..I used chili powder, cumin, cayenne, cinnamon, garlic or whatever you like. I do several different seasonings and like them all.

So, I've been very MIA this past week because I was staying at my parent's house for a few days. Wanted to give you all an update!

Today is VLCD9 and I am down exactly 10 pounds from when I started loading (and down 7 from before I started any HCG). This was not without mishaps!

As I said before I read here about how great grapefruit was for everyone's losses, and I went out and bought 3 of them. Then, I could not stop eating them, ALL, in one day. I am very carb sensitive and they put me over. I was brain fog-ish and tired, too. I am very easily addicted to carby foods, and that's partly why I'm not including the grissini/melba toast.

So I decided to cut out fruit completely, with the exception of a few TB of unsweetened ketchup on my meat choice, and occasional chopped tomatoes in my plain salad. Immediately after cutting out the fruit, I had a 2 pounds woosh (after only losing .4 the previous day, which is also good, not to complain). Two of these days I had alcohol (one day I had a couple lite beers, the other I had 2 bloody mary's, using the tomato as my fruit allotted for the day). This is obviously not protocol. And I'm not at all encouraging it!

I'm just letting you know my experiences (since someone asked about her friend having drinks and starting over). It did not seem to hamper my losses (though one can always say-- maybe I would have lost MORE had I not done that). I think 10 pounds in 8 days of eating well w/ a few slip ups is pretty fantastic, given that I'm usually a VERY slow loser and a hypothyroid one at that.

Also, the past 2 days I stopped eating chicken breasts. The texture started disgusting me. Instead, I started eating beef. Yesterday for lunch and dinner I had 3.5 oz of skirt steak which I had cooked on the Foreman (to lessen the fat). Because it's such a thin, airy cut of meat, it seemed so large... like the size of my whole hand, and it was SO SO SO satisfying. Then, I had a 2.2 pounds woosh overnight! And I finally have no appetite, and feel energized.

I'm not even sure my HCG is working, I'll be honest. Maybe it's because it's homeopathic. I think part of the fluctuations in hunger and HCG intake are really related to the state of ketosis. I'm doing well right now because I ditched the carby things and finally became ketotic. I think that's how HCG is meant to function (in ketosis), to preserve lean body mass and not waste muscle. My research area in medical school was on ketosis and ketogenic diets, and I think they are the most amazing thing ever. Some of us may be in ketosis despite the fruit and grissini, which is good for them (having a higher threshold). But I easily teetered between trace ketosis and addictive binge-mode, and decided not to mess with it.

I feel somewhat reassured that some centers don't allow grissini, or have tweaked the protocol for more veggies, higher calories, etc. These centers are likely run by physicians who have a very good and modern, up-to-date grasp on weight loss and HCG utility. So while I think the protocol, AS IS, no tweaking, may be hugely successful for people, I also see people here asking about cutting out veggies or fruit, or grissini, and I want them to know how my results have been, too.

I am nervous for the future, obviously. My 10 day trip to Costa Rica in May is going to be a big battle for me. I leave on what would have been day 22 of HCG (day 20 of VLD). The day I leave I won't take my HCG, and for the next 10 days while out of town I'm going to try and maintain eating simple lowcarb foods. Apparently the food there is very bean and rice heavy, so I'm nervous of gaining it all back. When I get back I'm going to start the HCG again right away and finish out my 40 day course.

That's all I can think of now! I've been meaning to post all these little tidbits but didn't have time.
Awesome loss so far! Congrats! It must feel so great. I'm also really happy to hear how many people on this thread are hypothyroid and still losing weight quickly. I actually just had my bloodwork done the other day and found out my dosage is too low, so I'm hoping that my new dosage will help my lose weight even better once I start the protocol. Only 9 days and 16 hours until I can start the protocol. Can you tell Im excited? lol

FatFat - excited is good!

Jan - you might want to add just a little water too...I usually "rinse"out the can of tomatoes with a little water and put in the pan..

All this talk of the hcg burning our "abnormal fat" stores has me really really hopeful!

This is an embarassing story, but right after I had my first daughter my right armpit got this big lump of fat. First I thought I was dying of cancer because I'm a huge hypochondriac, lol, but I got an ultrasound on it and it was fine. At that time I was really young, (and not so smart) and I starved my way down to a size 4. I barely had any fat on my body, but the damn fat lump under my armpit wouldn't go away! Last year I had another baby girl and the lump under my armpit got big again, even bigger than before. I had it checked out again, but there's nothing wrong...it's just fat. Weird, right? Anyhow, no matter how much dieting I've done over the years, I'm never able to get rid of it. So I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY praying that the hcg will get rid of this "abnormal fat" under my armpit.

Sorry if I grossed y'all out. lol

I've had armpit fat lumps my whole life! I'm so jealous of people who don't. Basically at that point where the shoulder meets the arm is a big ole bulge. Ugly. Yuck.

I'm baaaaaack...

Have been on maintenance since October and have just in the past 2 months not stuck with the plan. Gained back 13 lbs. Will be doing another round starting May 8th. Why did I do this to myself??! Well, at least I didn't let it get TOO out of hand. Hope all my old buds are still around here. Going to go back now and read posts. Be back soon.

Fatfat - you're certainly not grossing us out....we lay it right on the line here. I'm very interested to see what happens to that fat lump under your arm. I personally, had 3 C-sections and 2 surgeries across the lower part of my stomach, well, I thought if I kept gaining weight I would definitely have a big huge hunk of hanging fat..starting to go over the foot long incision...it was gradually getting worse. I never thought that would go away and that I would have to wear a girdle or something if I lost weight, but it's almost gone. I'm just so amazed with hcg...I really am. Keep us posted!

It still amazes me that I have never heard of HCG before maybe six weeks ago! And I'm someone who once tried the Master Cleanse! I'm not afraid of super low calories (if it works!) so if I had known about this years ago, I absolutely would have done it!

Vic - I heard about it in a newsletter from my doctor that I received on 3/15. A little paragraph that said he has it and him and his wife went through the program, etc. with other interesting info. I called the next day and made an appointment. I never heard of it before that day either, and I am so surprised why I didn't...I've also done several cleanses, including the Master Cleanse, so I know what you mean...where has my head been???

Did the doctor tell you it was a "lipoma"? Or basically, a benign fatty tumor? If so, and if HCG doesn't help, would you consider getting it removed? I see it done all the time! HTH.

Get yourself a nose pot or whatever they call them and do a salt water rinse on your nose. It will feel so much better and it helps with the congestion a lot.
