It's worth a shot trying it out, no? If you aren't getting good results the first week, maybe shake it up? But I wouldn't risk having gallbladder issues if you know how your body reacts already.

You need to read "Pounds & Inches" by Dr. Simeons before you decide. Eating high fat foods is not on the protocol and would make you gain weight instead of lose. Even though it's only 500 calories, the high fat would not work. THe hcg releases stored fat throughout your body equalling anywhere from 1500-4000 calories per day on top of what you eat. That is why you eat low fat. There is a section in "Pounds & Inches" about gall bladder issues. You can download the protocol on-line for free. Good Luck!!!

Good morning! After 6 vlcd's I am down -0.8# and a total of -12.0#. Tomorrow will mark the end of my first week - yeah!!!!

I love the boiled radishes. I make 14 and boil them until most of the color is gone. Yesterday I squeezed lemon on them and added garlic powder, salt, and pepper - YUM!!!

Good morning !

Today is VLCD6 and I have released 1 pound ! I have also lost inches ! I lost .5 in my left bicep, 2 inches in my waist, 1.5" in my hips, nothing in my left thigh or bust and .25" in my calf. I can see fat loss on my breastbone. BUT I still cannot fit my biggest jeans. Well, hopefully next week.

Gracie, I can't imagine radishes taste good but you guys are tempting me to try it and see !

Thank you. I don't recall reading anything about the gallbladder but I will go back and reread. Congrats on your losses!

Good Morning! only down .5 pound this am...my body does not want to go below 200...ha! day 27 for me...203.5...I was hungry yesterday and had an extra apple, and a cucumber, probably shouldn't have done that. Had fish for lunch with cabbage, and I guess that doesn't fill me up like chicken or beef. I've always loved chicken, but right now, don't care for it. I bought some ground, hoping that with some spices will taste better for a while.

Lynne - great idea..I'm going to make my next batch of chili with ground chicken. I always like ground turkey before, so it should work.

I went to the store yesterday, checking out canned tomatoes, to see which one has the least amount of sugar. I ended up with Hunt's fire roasted tomatoes...anyone else find one that works?

Gracie - you are a fat burning machine!! That must feel so awesome! You'll be at your goal before you know it.

Stin - great job on the loss and inches..KUTGW!

My total loss isn't really that great, cause I have so far to go, but I did go down 2 pants sizes, and one bra size..yeah! Happy about the bra size, cause my "girls" are too big

ha! Yeah, I was mostly wearing sweat pants throughout the winter. I have a closet full of clothes that are too small, but I have each size of jeans from an 18 to a 12. I just threw away the 18 and 16, and 3 bras! Good thing, cause I will start to have more room in my closet...good transition clothes.

Try Boiling them in Chicken or Beef Broth till all the liquid is gone. You'd be surprised at how good it can taste.

why are you saying your loss isn't great?? 226-203.5=22.5 pounds in 27 days?? at half a pound a day you would only get 13.5 pounds gone so the way i see it is that you are 9 pounds ahead of the curve!! 22 pounds in a couple of months or even 6 months on anything else would have had us rejoicing!

today is R3P3D10 and i am 299.4 again!! whoohoo hoping to stabilize right there!!!!

on the chili i use i pound of the hamburger and 1 14 oz can tomatoes divide all that into 4 portions

Deb, I so enjoyed my meatloaf last night ! It was yummy ! I found the Waldens Farm Barbecue sauce and also got some Caesar dressing. Thank you, all these new recipes keep me from getting bored.

Deb..wrong choice of words on my part, thanks for reminding me. I'm trying to stay very positive and when I say things like that, I know I shouldn't..get on me any time you want!
I have no support at home, living with my son and a 20 year old foster child, who love sabotaging me and buy donuts, ice cream etc., and I keep explaining they are making this difficult for me, but being mentally challenged, they just laugh about it and think its funny. I also still have stuck in my head some things I read in Kevin Trudeau book about losing 30 pounds in 30 days, and I need to forget about that. I basically, put his book away, and am going by Dr. S's Inches and Pounds, and the support and advice here. Thanks!

I looked for the bbq sauce at our store and couldn't find it. I'm looking on line now, and there are 4 different ones...will any of them work? I think I will place an order with netrition today. Also, what salad dressing from Walden's can we have? I'll order that too.
Thanks.

Pretty much all the WF dressings claim to be zero calorie, zero carb zero fat, so just check the label ( netrition has the label just scroll down) and choose the flavors you think you'd like.

I've got the ranch and blue cheese dressings. I chose not to get the traditionally oil based dressings. I tried the alfredo sauce it was passable, I didn't like the Marinara Sauce. It tasted chalky and I can afford the calories for real tomato sauce

big hugs from me wish i could give you one IRL very hard if the people you live with aren't on board i was very blessed my first 2 rounds my DH and DS14 were doing it with me this last round they were on P3/4 and while they wouldn't on purpose tease me sometimes it happened anyhow
and i honestly didn't mean to sound like i was jumping on you you have done an amazing job and i didn't want you to sell your hard work short!!! Trudeau is a hoaxster but he did bring this back into the light so i am grateful to him MEN can lose up to 30 pounds in 30 days we ladies average half a pound a day (and that seems to be no matter what size you start out at) my first round (and i am a big girl 352 to start the protocol) i lost 21.8 pounds in 23 days DH lost 26 in the same time and he start out at 226
you are doing a great job

any of the walden farms dressings that have nothing in them! i really liked the ranch and cocktail sauce and DH liked the thousand island Steven didn't care for the ketchup i am thinking the mayo is ok too read the nutrition label before ordering it

stinastina i am so glad you liked the recipes!!

google hcg recipes
and i think it is one at blogspot good recipes!!

Hi everyone!

I've been skimming this month's posts and can't tell yet who is actually doing the injections or just the diet plan?

My extremely awesome doctor who is treating my hypothyroidism does also do the HCG injections, so we're going to discuss it at my appt. on Wed.

Does anyone have any feedback on this?

Thanks!

The diet plan is not safe without the injections. The amount of protein is just barely enough to prevent muscle wasting, and some still take a little extra protein each day. Without the HCG forcing the body to burn fat and build glucose, your body will shut down the metabolism at the very little amount of food 500 calories is. People who did Kimmer's plan had a lot of negative effects from the very low calorie diet she imposed.

I wouldn't do this diet without the HCG. Read through Pounds and Inches to understand better how the HCG works only in conjuction with the 500 calorie diet, to reduce weight. It's fascinating. cause the HCG forces the body to use it's fat to create usable fuel for the body. It believes it needs to feed a fetus that cannot wait for timely meals, so it makes fuel available all the time to the entire body so the baby can take as much as it needs at any time. However it works in men and women, and even without pregnancy, so we take advantage of the forced fuel Mobilization by lowering our calories. This allows our own bodies ( sans baby) to use up that fuel from our own bodies, and since there is still a deficit, no new fat is formed to replace it and we lose weight.

iF you tried that low calorie diet without hCG you body will freak out and think it is starving because it has not been told it has any reason to create easily usable fuel, and because you are reducing intake of available fuel it will slow metabolism until it is back to normal. Meanwhile, the lack of enough carbohydrates will make your body use protein and fat to make blood glucose, and it will take fat from the fat cells and protein from your muscles if you don't have enough protein in the diet to compensate for that. The easiest muscle to break down is heart and skeletal.

Don't wanna risk that.

Good to know. I guess I'll find out all else I need to know on Wednesday. I'm so glad he's open to this! Only thing I wonder about is being hungry. Also, some of what I've read about avoiding oil based cosmetic products? Admittedly, I haven't read the book, so forgive me if this sounds obnoxious, but that part sounds like a lot of hooey. Oh, and I take a tablespoon of fish oil daily that I need, but then again my doctor prescribed that along with the coconut oil so I'm sure he'll tell me how it can fit in.

Morning everyone!

Today is R1P2VLCD22 and was down .8 this morning for total loss of 17.1 pounds. Yesterday was hard...I couldn't stop thinking about P3 foods. I think it may have something to do with the fact that yesterday was vlcd21 and that meant I can stop whenever now. I did make it through the day and feel much better today (especially since I am still losing!). I also tried eggs yesterday for the first time! Soooo good and I still lost! Woohoo!

I did make the baked daikons this weekend. Roasted them with some garlic, orgeano, pepper, and a tad of salt. They were good but were missing something.. Couldn't quite figure out what they needed. Maybe I will boil them in chicken stock next time. Probably would make them more flavorful.

Welcome victrola, the hcg makes it so you are not hungry otherwise you would have a really hard time doing this diet otherwise. It's actually not as hard as it sounds. You do need to avoid oil products. I've seen a lot of people on this diet use oil based products and gain weight...but then start losing as soon as they stop using them. Doesn't happen to everyone but it is something to consider if for some reason you go on it and are not losing.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Everyone! Was a tough day yesterday as I had to go to a friends for dinner, but actually did quite well. I stopped them before they "oiled" my chicken breast for the grill, and then actually took my scale along..haha! They all think I'm crazy..it's kind of funny. R1P2VLCD28..203...lost .5 since yesterday morning when weighed. Tomorrow is my official weigh in day at my doctor and I pick up 7 more injections.

Vic - I was sort of feeling the same way as you are right now before I started which was on 3/16. It was a huge adjustment not having oil, and because of my age and dry skin I kept searching until I found things to use. There is tons of support here, and I also take thyroid, blood pressure pills...also on prozac, and I'm working with my doctor through all of this, and I have not felt this good in years. I would never attempt to change this diet...read Pounds and Inches..it's on line. I printed it out, and keep rereading it to get this in my head. I will probably have a lot of questions too, once I move onto the next phase until I get in a routine. Because of my candida issues, my doctor had me using coconut oil too, and I love it! But, for this he said I have to drop it for the amount of time I'm on the injections. Many people do the drops and some do the injections and everyone gets about the same results, so I don't see there is much difference there. I'm definitely not a pro at this diet, learning something every day.

Happy to see you back Haleysnana!

Good morning! I have completed my first week of vlcd's and I started at 198 and this morning I am at 185.2# Oh yeah, can I get a shout out!!! LOL Today is vlcd#8 and I'm hoping my losses remain consistent this week.

Victrola ~ Welcome! You definitely need to read the protocol - it will answer all of your questions from the diet to the reason "why" this works. As for the oil based products - it's true they are not allowed and they will cause gains. Your body will pull the fat out of the oil and use it. Our bodies are really smart working machines! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Tonia ~ Yay! I'm so glad you've started. You are actually on P2, vlcd1 - P1 was something invented by Kevin Trudeau that nobody really follows. It was a cleansing phase.

Haleysnana~ Welcome back!

Kerbear ~ Great job!!! I love when I hit that 21st day of P2 - it's like FREEDOM to do whatever you want! How long do you plan on staying in P2? I like to do short rounds because mentally my brain can't handle a long one. This time I'm cycling - I did 21 days of P3 and now I'm doing 21 days of P2 (then the 48 hour wait). We'll see how it goes!

Great job!!! You've lost 23 pounds already!!!

BTW, GREAT post!!!! You can't change the protocol or it will not work.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to eat squeaky clean this round and hopefully get even better results. I'm going to try something different - last round I ate one fruit for breakfast and the other after dinner. This time I'm going to save the 1st fruit and have it with protein at lunch and see if that makes any difference. I've also learned I can't lose while eating cabbage so that's out this round. I guess I'll stick with spinach and salad! lol

Good morning, all ! Today is VLCD7 and I am down 1.4 pounds. Yippee !!

I tried the boiled radishes and really enjoyed them ! Thank you, ladies, for all the great suggestions !

I did a google search for HCG recipes and found a site that adds Protein Powder to everything. This doesn't sound like protocol - is it a substitute for our meat protein ? I think I prefer eating my meat anyways.

One more question - is there anything we can have that has a faux buttery flavor ?

Gracie - I am not totally sure how long I am gonna stay on this round. Wanted to hit 20 pounds lost and am only 3 pounds from that. I think I will probably stay on at least until the 21st as that is when I will run out of my current mixed hcg and then I have to decide if I want to mix some more and go 7 more days or just stop. We'll see how the weight loss goes over the next week. Great first week loss for you! Woohoo!!

Pam - welcome back! I think you will do great this round especially since you know what works and what doesn't which I think is the advantage in round 2!

Susan - you're still doing awesome and good for you for bringing the scale to measure the chicken

Tylar - congrats on starting vlcd1! Can't wait to see your results!

Congrats on the loss! I try not to veer away from the protocol at all - so no protein powder for me. As for the faux butter - I don't think we can use those. It would be nice though! I found that I like the lemon juice and garlic on my boiled radishes and asparagus. HTH
