Thank you for this!!! I didn't stabilize in P3 so well last time so, I'm on what I plan to be my very last round. I must stabilize this time! I will do whatever it takes and I so appreciate all the info on this thread!

I use whey protein powder that I buy at the Wal-Mart. I buy the one that has the least carbs. I use Calorie Countdown chocolate milk and add the protein and 2 eggs and any flavoring I fancy at the time.

I know Dr. Simeons mentions that "over-enthusiasm" is a problem and it's a mistake to just make minor variations to the VLCD from phase 2 (like replacing meat with egg etc)
I see how that wouldn't be good at all and that the advice to eat freely except starces and sugars exists for a reason. But I know I'd feel better with some idea of calories. Do most people really play it by ear or set out with a plan to maybe have 1000 calories for a day or two at the start of phase 3, then 1200, then 1500? Any thoughts on calorie intake in phase 3? Do you really just stick to the list of foods, eat until your comfortable and then adjust if your scale weight goes up 2.1 pounds or more and not worry about whether you had 1200 or 2000 calories? |

Okay, seriously...those garlic/parm wings sound so good. I would eat those anytime!
So, I'm trying to start researching some recipes, etc. now to get prepared for P3 next week. I see all these different things like Almond flour, etc that can be used to make bread type products. Are these allowed in p3?? Some recipes call for Carbquick too. What about that? I'm assuming that's like Bisquick or something. Obviously, I would probably hold off on that stuff until week 2 of P3 anyway, but I'm still curious what others do. |

kari, and those garlic/parm drumsticks did a great correction day!
I would be very careful with the almond flour, I think thats what led to my correction day. I am a carb addict and made stuff with it, and went up. i am not sure about carbquick, but if its got carbs probably not... good luck in P3.. |

I have a question about the shake day. If I use egg protein, since I am allergic to cows milk, do I add the eggs or just more protein powder? I use jay robbs plain egg protein which is just egg and lecithin.

Just need to clarify P3 is the continuation of the diet without the hHCG drops still restricting starches and sugars...so that means no rice, beans, lentils, salad dressings, oils still
What about dairy, nuts, cereals? |

Lovely star - no! You can eat anything BUT starches and sugars. So, you absolutely want to increase your protein and start adding in fats. But, no beans, rice, potatoes, pasta, bread etc.... no starches or sugar but, definitely do add fat back into your diet.
Start out your first few days of P3 by increasing your protein and adding in fat - cook your eggs in butter, eat fattier cuts of meat, eat salad dressing but, make sure it doesn't contain sugar or starches etc.... then over time, slowly add in full fat dairy - yogurt, heavy cream etc... For a lot of people, cheese and nuts can be trigger foods so, I've found it's advised to add these in slowly and only one at a time so you can see how your body reacts to them.

Okay so in P3 oils, butters, dairy is OK but not starches and sugars...what about brown rice or sweet potatoes aren't they better for you? Seems like everything contains sugar nowadays I don't know any store bought dressings that don't contain sugar

No Sweet potatoes, no brown rice, those are starches... you can find sugar free dressings and such on line, just have a quick search :-)

Wednesday will be my LIW. Will my weight continue to decline during the three additional days of 500 cal and rebound to the LIW upon the start of P3?

Some people lose a little bit more on the those 3 days, but it does generally rebound back to your LIW. So just focus on that number. Welcome to P3!!

I dropped 1.2 pounds on the last two days from 134.2 to 133. I used 134.2 as my LDW. I've been pretty much right between those two numbers for P3 and I just figure the extra loss is a little bit of wiggle room. I actually raised calories with extra protein the last two days... 600 on 1st day, and about 750 on the 2nd. Not protocol, but I felt like I needed a protein boost, and I think I was right, since I lost over a pound.

Thank you catjrow2 and emel. I've lost 53 pounds and my body is telling me it needs a break from P2 as I'm getting hungry more often and I'm drained. I might add a little extra protein the next two days.

Hi abihn,
I started with a couple of eggs fried or scrambled in butter my first two days - that's all I added except for increasing the size of my protein servings at lunch and dinner. Then I added more fats, protein and veggies after those two days and it worked out fine! Remember, you can add a wider choice of vegetables and put butter on them, if you wish! Olive oil was also a nice addition. |

How will I know that I am stable? When can I start using my toothpaste and other health and beauty product again? I also am having a hart time getting my protein up higher Can I drink a Protein shake or eat some kind of Bar as a snack to get that up?? Last edited by Nakima79; 03-10-2011 at 04:24 AM.. |

Correction Days...
Ok I have to admit that I have been reading posts on here for weeks, and have only now run into a wall -- so I'm hoping you guys can help me with a few questions of my own! : )
First, I'm on day 2 of P3 and failing MISERABLY. (I have a fairly good idea why...) But I have a few questions. First, I did a steak day and gained a pound -- ARGH! So could somebody at least ballpark how big of a steak it is that I'm supposed to eat? Secondly, I think I'm going to try one of the suggestions on here and do a pattern: Correction Day, P3 Foods Day, Correction Day, P3 Foods Day. Some of the correction days are a Nut Day, Greek Yogurt Day, and an Egg Day. But everything I've read here stresses extreme caution on these foods, so can I do them or do I need to wait until I'm further into P3? Next question, for the protein shake correction day, I see that one of the ingredients is eggs -- do you mean raw eggs? Isn't that unsafe and completely awful tasting? Just asking! : ) Finally - when you talk about "eating clean", does that mean you eat P2 foods (minus melba) but double the protein and make sure you are getting the full (Your weight x 11) number of calories? Do we still have to watch spices like we did on P2? As you can tell, even with all the insight I have gotten from this site, P3 is really kicking my butt and frustrating the HECK out of me! Thanks for any help! |

OK best P3 meal EVER! It took one of my Great Grandmas recipes and tweaked it!
Green chillie Zuchini bake 1 1/2 cup steamed and mashed califlower (oringinal recipe calls for rice) 3 med. zucchini sliced thin - cook in hot water with a little salt till tender but crisp 1 large tomato pepperjack cheese montery jack cheese 1 1/2 c plain greek yogurt (original recipe calls for sour cream) 1 Tsp Oregano 1 Tsp Garlic Salt 2 Tsp Parsley flakes - I used fresh 1/2 C chopped Bell Pepper 2 TBS dried onion 1 4.5 oz can chopped green chillies 1 7.5 oz can green chillie sauce Put mashed cauliflower on bottom of glass baking dish Sprinkle thin layer of Pepper Jack cheese lay Zucchini over cheese lay tomatoes on top of zucchini mix yogurt, chilies, chili sauce, and spices, pour over top of tomatoes sprinkle with montery jack cheese Bake 350 for 45-50 min *This is spicey - if you want to cut back on the spice use all montery jack cheese and no green chili sauce - But I love it spicey! My kids and DH devoured this! The kids were amazed that I could actually eat what they were tonight! I served it with a side of grilled chicken breast. Yum! |
