Thanks Doris for starting us up. Not sure if I will walk today. I have a little shopping and catch up on paper work to do.

Glad to be back here with you all.

Yep, Loretta, it's just one of those days of "things" to get done!!

Susan, are you still working or have you slowly worked your way downwards, off of the roster?

I walked the alley from end to end, alone, while dh was nipping/napping. That is all I'm doing, have folding of lots of laundry to do, it's on the couch, calling to me!!! We will need to begin some packing around Wednesday.

I took today as a 'rest the muscles day'. Yesterday I went to a Step class which included using weights. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger! I am noticing muscles today that I never knew I had.

Sure agree with those 4 letter WORK words.

Exercise workout upper and lower body. Walk cancelled due to rain. I sure would like to send some to California.

So far just a couple of flights of stairs moving stuff around from upstairs to the basement.

I am making room, as DD has sold her house and they will be moving in here for a couple of months to decide where to go, buy a new home or build.

It will make me purge and de-clutter I guess that will be a good thing.

Yes, Susan, people moving in will really make you think twice about saving stuff, but at least you have a basement!!! dh and I just talked about if his mother decided suddenly to move here, or if our other son and daughter in law decided to make a move, if we could easily squeeze them if for awhile?

Did Jack LaLanne chair exercises, and 6 lb. weights. Want to do squats, but not feeling like it, lol.

I wound up playing soccer with Silas, kicking the ball all over the back yard, for a good 45 min., he really likes to kick that ball. Then we played catch with the ball, and had a good time, and the backyard here is hilly, not flat like it was where we lived before. So wound up getting bending exercise in, lol. More fun than squats!

Walking all over Wal Mart, Home Depot, and maybe the mall, so walking for today is the exercise, chores at home, only.

Loretta, I think we now have your rain, it has just started after 3 days of sunshine. Let's hope it washes away the muddy stuff the snow leaves around the lawns and such.

Doris, playing with a toddler soccer will certainly give you some exercise. Well Done for keeping up with him.

Up and down the stairs with several boxes was all I got around to again today.
I was supposed to go to my Yoga class but we were short one car so I couldn't get there. When DS leaves tomorrow I sure hope I can keep to my classes and get back into them again.

Doris, Yes, I am reducing my availability for work. I am however, working this Sunday and next. I am still unsure what date to completely retire. I am hoping to get through until the Fall and then quit before the snow flies. Ha!

I did manage my little arm routine with 5lb weights last night to add to the leg work of the stairs. Ha!

Will see what today brings.

Susan sounds like you are happy to be home again and getting back in your routine.

Walk and workout as usual.

If I could get the $#@ mower started I will mow the yard and I want to get my sweet potatoes planted today.

I hate to try to start a lawn mower, even the easy ones are a pain in the butt for me, used to enjoy the push mower, back in the day when the lawns were about 6 foot square, lol. And those hand edgers, they hurt!!!

Did bed pushups, kitchen counter pushups, bathroom counter pushups and washing machine pushups, lol, each one is a different height in this place.
10 lb. weights done just now, while dh is napping, and I'm done, getting maps and AAA guide books together.

Doris - Jack LaLanne workout, you GO! He's a serious hero of mine...

Swanlake - I've worked out a lotta ways over the years but step is still a favorite. How long have you been at it? Is your class at a gym? My husband actually did it with me at home way back when:

^^^ Wow. LOL.

Tuesday exercise: Not much due to feeling like crap from cold. Two hours of yard work and several hours of chasing after my grandson.

Wednesday's Exercise:

Love the Pic Sherry. I used to attend those step classes religiously for years back in the day. I am short and I could only get up to one riser. Hot and sticky after classes as I remember.

Leg work moving boxes up and down 2 flights of stairs.
100 knee waist twists in intervals of 5 x 20
Glut and thigh floor exercises

Lolani, I have just started with step classes. They have been updated to "Latino Step". High energy, fast-paced and the classes are done with weights in hand. I am the oldest in the class and I'm not doing too badly at keeping up....but wow, is it a work-out! My only concern, other than eventually getting into decent shape, is my knees. Have to be careful not to tweak anything so I do modify a few of the steps. It's funny how 'what goes around comes around' with exercise classes. They just re-invent the music, jazz up the moves and it all seems fresh and new again. I, myself, remember working out to Jane Fonda videos. That's another blast from the past.

It's the same thing with all the diets, same thing, different name, different celeb trying to make money with it, add a few different food items, write a book, and rake in the cash

I did my squats first thing after getting out of bed and before cooking breakfast for dh. Jack LaLanne's after lunch and weights and that's it for me today.

SwanLake: YES! Jane Fonda. Me too. Good for you and good luck with those step classes.

I'm so impressed with all of you working out at home. I'm so BAD about that. I like da gym.

Wednesday's exercise:
  • 30 minute walk with dog and baby
  • 1 hour of fairly intense yard work, after which it was perfectly clear that this cold is kicking my BUTT.

Hi! I am new here. I am on day 4 of LC. I don't have a scale (probably not a bad idea) so I don't know if I have lost any weight, but this morning I got up and walked my usual 2 miles despite the killer SoCal heat, and I could not believe how much energy I had! Woohoo! Good stuff!I put on my iTunes and rocked out. I am 64.

This is how it goes: EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE

Got my walk in early and finally got that mower to start and mowed the back yard.
It is just a push mower with no self propellsion except for me. Took a while and more that one tank of gas.

Sure worth the effort. It looks great.

Very True Words Loretta,
Glad that you got that mower started today.

I like the gym classes too, when I can get myself there!
Yes, do be careful with those knees.

At least on the off days we can do whatever it takes at home.

200 knee lift waist twists, in 25 rep intervals

Thigh n Glut exercises

1 hr. Walk in the woods with DD and her dog Billy

Hello and welcome, Ry! Your exercise talk really inspired me this morning!

Wow, Loretta. Consider me impressed. PUSH mower, no propulsion, more than one tank of gas. Way to go!

Your exercise was awesome, too, Susan. Pretty sure I couldn't do 200 lift knee waste twists.

I had a low grade fever yesterday and didn't do CRAP. Schlepped around and didn't even walk the dog! Sigh...

Stay strong folks!

Sherry, try to do 10 and then every hour or so waiting for something in the nuker do another 10, you soon get up to 100 that way.
Hope that bug leaves you soon.

I made it to my class this morning. So 1 hour of physical activity so far today.

Sat in the car for hours, except for pee breaks and gas, but did do the motel hallway walking. Time change here is only one hour, but it's noticeable, dh has nothing on tv to watch, they just have regular channels here. Only one night, but we will rethink staying in this town again, this Hampton has really down graded itself.

Internet here is like dial up, very slow.

Waving at you all, have not read everyone's posts yet.

Went to a one hour Bokwa class last night. I find that the first 45 minutes is manageable but in order to make it through the last 15 minutes, I really have to push myself. (I am read to drop but refuse to do so.) When I joined the gym a few weeks ago, I had grandiose ideas of going working out five days a week. Realistically, I leave for work at 6:45 every morning and get home between 5:30 and 6:00 at night. Then I need to cook, clean and get ready for the next day.

So....I have decided that focusing on
(a) doing a one hour class, three times a week, and;
(b) planning my meals and snacks (every single day) is more realistic and achievable.

I tend to be an "all or nothing" kind of person, so I think that drilling down and focussing down on more realistic goals will be the key to my success.

On a positive and re-affirming note, I am down 11 pounds. 20% of my goal. Breaking it down into ten ;pound increment --. four more increments to go.

Thanks for letting me talk!
