SUNDAY'S Roll Call, Jan. 5

Wishing, hoping, praying and crossing my fingers that we ALL have as good a week as we can, January seems like a month full of worries every year, or is it just me? Hold on for the long ride, friends.

Good Sunday morning. Thanks Doris.

Julie, speedy recovery Dear. My Mom (having had many varied surgs.) said her thyroid surgery was by far the worst of them all... you did not have surg. did you? Still any thing involving the throat is hard to deal with. God bless- I am sending up prayers for you.
The cold here is aching my bones with my back hurting in rapid waves just below the waist. Doris, I cut back on by one 3 mg. Melitonin and am now waking up during the night sometimes holding myself as stiff as a board with tension. I know THAT can't be good and sure enough my back is a killer this morning and in fact it was the pain that woke me up. I have a bottle of Rx muscle relaxants and wonder if a bed time one would be a good idea. Today is DAY 4 of smoking QUIT and I know that for a couple of weeks and then a few months the body is thrown into all kinds of weirdness from with drawal symptoms so I am just trying to go with the flow for the next 2 1/2 weeks.
Time for a pain pill which I really hate to take but I hate this low back pain even more.
First I want to check the weather- too cold and hoping for a rise in temps today.

Good morning all. Doris, I'll echo your thought on looking forward to Spring!

Julie, I hope you're feeling much better. That must have been very frightening. DH had epiglottitis at this time last year. Not the same part of the throat, but similar as to the serious risk. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Loretta, I'm sorry to hear about John's results and hope he can get good treatment quickly.

Today's cooking experiment is making Cuban black bean soup with (gasp!) small white beans. I'm guessing the flavor will be virtually identical, but am wondering if the different color will set up a different flavor expectation in the mind. I recall reading something many moons ago about color affecting appetite - that blue light made almost any food unappetizing. Does that ring a bell with anyone else?

Have a good day everyone.

-Louise

Louise that rings a bell to me but don't remember where I heard it either. I made a smoothie with purple kale and Dh and I felt like we were drinking mud. The taste was still good but will save the purple stuff for other dishes. HA!

Loretta so sorry to read about your partner Bob. Strong well wishes for him and the stress that goes along with the treatment. :sprayer:

Julie I'm so glad you are feeling better. That must of been so scary. Take care.

Stay warm friends. BBL

Snow been falling steadily all day we were warned we were getting another dumping.
Glad I don't have to be anywhere, not that I can drive myself anywhere yet. This is a drag.

I am grateful that we have power and for a good daughter that will drive me and bring me groceries. A lovely warm house and the the pain is controlled now with the meds. Yeah!

Doris, Love your funny with Maxine and the grumpy Kitty in your new Avi.

Oh Babette, the joy of screening huh? Hopefully the prep time will pass quickly for you and then it will soon be over for another 5 years.

Sending more for strengh Loretta. I know from experience that they sure help.

Louise, Okay I had better buy a blue light for around here.
You dish sounds like a tasty one.

Lainey, I am with you, I don't like to take these pain meds but the pain is the trade off. I now have ringing in my ears due to the amount of meds in me. Hopefully that will settle down once I wean off them.
Hope you get your back ache settled soon. Can you move it around a bit I find if mine is stiff I wiggle it a bit like doing the hula hoop in slow motion and it seems to loosen it up. Like a bit of PT.
Great going to Day 4 I take 3 mg of Melatonin nightly can't miss it.

Julie, I sure hope you are recovering from such a shocking event. How is your breathing now? Sending and for a speedy recovery.
I do intend to visit DS now that he has moved to Orlando so I will be looking for that Cracker Barrel to meet up with You for lunch.

Mary, Hope your weather is behaving in your neck of the woods.

Linda, Waving to You are you 'blink in' now and then. ha!

Verleen, How is your weather? Similar to ours I expect. Hope Cathy has recovered from that chest infection by now.

Sharon, You too stay warm. With this crazy weather it appears where you least expect it.

Waving to All and hope to bbl...

euuuu- can't wait! got me snacks (pp/raisins/triscits and diet pepsi) twas a time when not alone- tea in a pot with a cozy- scones with butter & jam and way too many of those finger sandwiches.
Gonna watch the before show about the history of the estate. I saw a preview last night and Martin's mother looked so devastated as did Mary but not like his Mother. Just grabbed some tissues to take into the TV room.
