Chicken from China
I can't freaking believe it...just heard on Dr. Oz the TPTB (the powers that be) have okayed shipping chickens to China for processing to be returned to the U.S...and they won't be marked as such because they are only required to display the "country of origin." Since these chickens are being shipped there, their country of origin is the good ol' US of A. It's supposedly cheaper to ship billions of pounds of chicken to process 'em there than it is to have them processed here.
We will not have USDA inspectors on site and the processors will be checked only once a year with advance notice as to when the inspectors will be there. The USDA response was they feel the processors in China meet all the standards of the US. I guess since the products will be cooked they think the food will be safe.
I guess they totally discounted all the canned/dry dog and cat food that was processed in China and caused over 600 deaths of our pets.
Don't know when this goes into effect, but for me, I'm not going to be buying any frozen/cooked chicken....tho' come to think of it I don't buy any now...hmmm, on second thought I do buy frozen wings. Will definitely stop that.

I might be wrong but I think if you buy whole chickens and cut them up yourself this process is skipped.
Otherwise I'll quit eating chicken.

I'll be buying free range chickens here that are raised by the Amish and "off" them myself, cut them up and freeze them.
