SATURDAY'S Roll Call, Nov.23
Another weekend, we will be babysitting while dil has to take a make up test for her class.

Janie, it's good to "see" you, how are you doing?

Good Night, gang of seniors...........I need to go snuggle in bed to warm up, ;)

LoveMontana 11-22-2013 09:22 PM

Thanks again for the start off, Doris.
Have fun babysitting tomorrow. Such fun when they are young kids.

We are going to get some lake effect snow showers tonight and tomorrow, UGH, oh well, it is winter and it's getting real cold.

Got some shopping done today....and added another pumpkin to the pumpkin soup I made yesterday. It was way too hot. The recipe called for one or two chipotle peppers, and they were small, so I used two.....big mistake....

Tomorrow I will be cutting greens for wreath making on Tuesday, and doing some baking.

Sunday....airport to pick Gabe up.

Brrrr.... Brrr.... Brrr....

Still in the 30s here - Had to put on bunches of layers to go walk the dog. I even put a coat on him! Am trying some Starbuck's Christmas Blend coffee right now - has anyone else tried it? What do you think?

I've got a hair appt in a little while and then the usual errands - am hoping that any sleet holds off till I'm back home. Doris, be careful out there!

Tonight I'm going to make some more LC pumpkin muffins - that should warm up the house!

Take care everyone - enjoy your day!

Michele, we had that coffee last year in Reno, it was good, but I never had it again, lol.......I don't even recall it's taste, to be honest. Yes, we are paying attention to the roads, but the kids have to be out in it, regardless, I worry most about our son, because he gets off of work at 7 pm and starts work at 7 AM, when it is usually bad. daughter in law is traveling in the daytime, and no overpasses, so she feels ok. Monday is that day we will stay home for sure, but I bet you have to drive to work, no matter what.

Begete, I'm happy to hear that Gabe is coming, can he stay the whole week, at least?

My chore this morning is to finish washing all of my collectable, old, Tins, daughter in law is going to stand on a ladder and place them up above the cabinets, along with old wash board, wooden crates, and other old "junk", as my dh likes to call it. :hyst:

Hi Lainey, Linda, and everyone else that pops by today. :high5:

Good morning all. Waving at all who came before me and sending all hugs, hoping you have a good day. Your tales of lake-effect snow, sleet, and those overpasses make me shiver in remembrance. Glad I'm in SoCal where we're shivering in the mid 40's with the sun shining. The ground is soggy from all the rain but fortunately our thirsty ground sucks it up. Snow level dropped down to the 4500 foot level so our mountain folk are very happy; only snow lovers live up there...we flatlanders prefer the beaches.

We're sending that last low system your way so do be careful as I understand it's going to make havoc as it moves across the southern states, so more stuff coming your way. We're to be sunny and warming until Thanksgiving when another front will be moving through making our roads slick for folks traveling to gramma's. That's usually the problem with us getting rain, a little bit of rain just makes the roads wet and raises the residue up without washing it away, making them very slick.

Anyhoo, enough about the weather...my day will be stay-at-home. I've got to get the house picked up as I'm having the sisters over for supper tomorrow after church...going to try some of those Omaha steaks I recently ordered and I'll give them the stuffed potatoes that came with 'em. Saw a couple of recipes yesterday on the Chew that I'll make as side dishes 'cause they looked so good; carrots & quinoa and braised cabbage with beer, although I'll use my lo apple cider. I'll probably make those up today so I can just heat them tomorrow. Of course, I'd be smarter to throw a chicken into the slow cooker but I promised them steak. Even getting the charcoal grill going. Brings back memories of grilling in New York in the snow...the only flat place we had was on the driveway about 20 feet from the back door, me in my flip flops running through the snow.

Hey, Doug I meant to comment yesterday on you being aboard the USS Kennedy when you got the news about JFK's demise. That must have been very difficult for you all. I know how you swabbies take to your vessels and all of the history associated with them. It must have been doubly difficult for all on board. Thanks to all for sharing your stories.

Enough of a chit/chat, gotta get moving. My tail wagger is looking at me as if I'm moving slowly (which of course I am)...have a great day folks and stay warm.

Hey, Michelle, as for Starbucks...don't go frequently but when I do I just have the black house blend or if I'm feeling frisky, I'll have a latte either iced or hot depending on the weather. But I'll certainly try the Christmas blend and let you know...that is if I get to Starbucks before the holidays end.

And, Begete, is that the chipotle in adobo or just the dried chillies? If it's the canned in the adobo, do you freeze the rest of the can? I'll take the seeds out, blend up the chillies and freeze it flat in a plastic bag, then just cut off and inch or so depending on what I'm using....just saying...

Been sitting at the 'puter all morning doing this and that...no genealogy, tho'. Just finished the crossword so got to get moving. How's your day going?
