TUESDAY'S Roll Call, Oct. 22

Let's roll out the barrel and get this week moving along............Tuesday will be filled with phone calls, expected phone calls from doctor's and a visit from someone from the Neptune Society, my husband mailed in a card and someone is coming to the house..........even though we already belong and paid for it way back in the 1980's..................?? Don't know why dh sent in the card?

Norfolk Mermaid 10-22-2013 04:58 AM

Good Tuesday AM. Thanks Doris for start out.

What is the Neptune Society? Heard of it but in the dark here.
Missed all my fav. shows on tv last night... projectile vomiting and then crawled into bed to die! A fertilizer smell is not helping this morning. Checked outside and nothing- what in the "ell" could it be. Cannot find a source inside. Smelled a dirty diaper in the "phone store" yesterday with Mary Anne- had to be a baby in a stroller in there. Got a blood hound nose I got from my MOM! A curse for sure. Still feeling pretty awful. Butter popcorn in the movie I' ll bet. WOW on how much 3D has improved- Mary Anne and I were ducking space debris worse than Sandra and George- we actually reached out to grab some of the smaller stuff that was heading straight for our faces LOL. The cost for that outing was shocking but we both admitted to it being worth it for sure.
Gotta getta a going.
Louise, I remember a Broadway Play giving me a high for 3 weeks- used to do the "season" back in my Manhattan days- course it was so reasonable for theater afternoons in those days... always bought cheap seats and upgraded at the door- read the books first- saw the play and then waited for the movie. "EVERYONE SHOULD LIVE IN N.Y. CITY BUT NOT SO LONG THAT YOU GET HARD AND EVERYONE SHOULD LIVE IN L.A. BUT NOT SO LONG THAT YOU GET SOFT". All time fav play- Armadaus!
GAWD, I feel punk!

What is that Doris?
Up early today,4:15,waiting for day light to go outdoors.
Played like Lainey and started trimming bushes around the house yesterday.Decided on the fall and winter clean up also.Dh helped a little.
Loretta, are you not afraid to go out walking when it's still dark,I would be.Guess I'm a fraidy cat cause I also would not sleep with my windows opened.
Day light has arrived with heavy fog.

Neptune is when you prepay for your cremation and so forth.

Be back later, dh is vacuuming now and it's too noisy to think, lol.

So sorry that I haven't been on much lately. I have two excuses. One is that typing on the ipad is a pain in the --- . The second is that I have been very involved visiting my extremely ill neighbor. It's over two weeks since i took her to the hospital and I've visited her most every day. Thank goodness her son and daughter arrived last night for five days.
My daughter arrives Saturday for a visit.

Begete 10-22-2013 09:22 AM

Good morning.

Julie - invest in a stylus for ipad typing.

Weezie - never grew herbs from cuttings, but always grow mint in a pot instead of in the groud as nothing spreads like mint.

Hi everyone else. We have been having such dense fog in the morning, it may as well rain which it hasn't done in 2 weeks. We actually have to water. Very unusual for this time of year.

Mssarge 10-22-2013 09:50 AM

Hey y'all and thanks for the start Doris. I was so glad my DH and I had made the pre-pay. When the time came I didn't have to make any decisions and, for that matter, who can decide anything at a time like that but you must...and it was all paid for so I didn't have to come up with money out of the pocket. I've tried talking to other people to make that a part of their lives, but most people don't want to hear it. Of course, I've still to make my will so I can't talk.

Haven't made clippings from herbs but I don't see why it wouldn't work...and keep the mint confined to a pot however, I've sometimes found bits of it growing in my other herb pots. Weezie, do you use the powder that helps cuttings root...I think it's called something like "root-all?" Back in my gardening days I used to take cuttings from almost everything...a habit I picked up from my SIL who had the green thumb.

Gotta get a bit of cleaning done and get going...hope you all have a great day.

We found out our plan we bought in Calif. may not be "good" here, so may have to buy a new plan, I just contacted the Calif. office. We only paid $275 back in 1993!! lol

Be back later, too much going on, phones ringing because of mother in laws surgery and so forth.

We also have this all set up including the wills.

Had a bone marrow test done yesterday. White/red blood cells are a little low and the specialist wants to know why.
Not much else going on here.

Doug

mykneesareback 10-22-2013 12:06 PM

Oh Doug, I hope they get the test results soon, and have an answer for you on that! How do they do a "bone marrow test", I'm not sure about it?? Sounds painful though.................:console:

Norfolk Mermaid 10-22-2013 02:09 PM

Oh Doug, that sounds scary! I have heard for myself patients getting that test. Maybe it is not like it used to be. YES! keep us in the loop please. I'll be thinking of you and Jo a lot.

Doris, a big a$$ needle, I am guessing, going into the hip bone, I didn't watch.;)
Painful for about 5-10 minutes. Feels like nonstop fire.
I find out about the results on Nov 5.

Good evening, everyone. Sorry I haven't popped in here before, went to run errands with Mom this AM then we stopped and got lunch to bring home.

DD sent me another picture of DGD - I swear, she gets more and more precious every day.

Isn't she sweet, Too Sweet. what a doll!

Dh had a bone marrow test and it was quite painful. He ended up with some sort of non Hodgkins leukemia. It was not life threatening.

Best of luck on that Doug. waiting for the results is a PITA.

Not much of a funeral plan in place for me. I am donating my body to the Medical School in Lexington, Ky. After they finish up with me, my cremains will be sent to the local funeral home. I have prearranged that part and have paid for my spot in the cemetary. I will be buried with my late DH.

mykneesareback 10-22-2013 05:37 PM

That is a darling little granddaughter you have, toosweet gal!

Doug, just reading about that needle makes me shiver, and now the long wait time, waiting for test results hasn't changed much in the past decade.

Julie, I hope your neighbor recovers soon, maybe seeing her family will help. You are a blessing to your neighbor!! I'm glad your daughter is coming!!

I emailed the Calif. office of the Neptune Society at the exact place where we went to enroll, they are still there. dh wants his cremains to go into the ocean, but I don't, it sounds silly, but I can't swim, and it bothers me to think of being tossed into the ocean.......:hyst: We didn't pay for Urn's, either, our kids would just get a sack, but this man who was here says you have to have an Urn now.

Mother in law is still in recovery, they can't find a bed for her in the hospital in Oroville, it seems, but her neighbor friend says she is supposedly doing ok, she is 85.

Doug....I have had two bone marrow biopsies. They hurt like he**.

Knowing that in advance, I took heavy dose of painkiller an hour before and Dr gave me novacaine at the site and it still hurt.

Ladies....the pain is very comparable to being in labor - maybe a little worse. Didn't they give you anything in advance for the pain, Doug?

Was Jo there? John was present and was nearly passed out. He required more medical attention than I did afterwards.

My painkiller was a couple stiff drinks before going and they did use novacane at the site, but like the nurse said, we cannot numb the bone.

Jo waited in the lobby.

Thank you both for the compliments on my DGD. She's going to be a handful when she gets older, I do believe.
