MONDAY'S Roll Call, October 14

It's Columbus Day, or American Indian Day in some areas. All I know, there is no mail delivery on this day, bummer!

Here it is 8 pm. I'm finished with seeing the Hobbit and now I'm heading for bed. Thanks for our start off Doris. See everyone in the morning.

And in breaking news...DH heard a bobcat yowling last night! Turns out there are quite a few in the area. He said it was not a great thing to hear while watching "Sleepy Hollow!" He wound up changing channels.

Happy Monday!

We have been having lots of rain,Sat. was a downpour. We are up on a ridge so never flood.Still need to cut grass.

Good morning all...Lainey, what fun...you're putting away summer things, stowing the umbrella while we here in SoCal are trying to find ours for our rainy season. I've another cat scan scheduled this afternoon, but nothing else planned, so I wonder what trouble will come.

Waving at all and wishing Susan a happy thanksgiving...type ya later.

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving, Susan.

I still haven't been able to figure out how to post a recipe to the recipe room!

This is one that is clearly low carb, but unless you are low carbing, very fattening!

Hello, everyone, just got in here, been on the phone with Express Scripts, they want to charge us almost $1,400 for dh's anti rejection med, that is for every 3 months, so had to call and argue, and then call the doctor. There is only one brand of anti rejection med, and one generic, and that's it, and the generic makes my husband shake like a drug addict, so, we shall see what happens. The big Brand company increased the price of the drug double what they used to charge, and now they make it in Japan.

Louise, that would be unsettling, to be watching a spooky show and hear a bobcat in the area, ugh!

Lainey, glad you are almost done with the weed whacking chore for a few months!

Begete, how is your garden holding out nowadays?

Susan, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, enjoy the "together" time!

As I say, Gladys, if your husband lived in Germany, people would go up to him and rub him for good luck!! Just like the chimney sweep.

Mary, hope your cat scan goes smoothly this afternoon.

Sharon, have a good day, doing "whatever" strikes your fancy.

Son's cat scan went ok this morning, they gave him some other kind of stuff this time, so he didn't have any bad reaction. He called from breakfast, they were at a new plact, "The Egg and I". Hoping he can go back to work later on.

My mother in law is going to come out for Christmas, if her knee replacement operation goes well, and she wants to stay at least 2 weeks, so now I have to really clear out that spare room.

Take care, friends!!

As expected, my blood counts are low, being at the nadir between chemo sessions, so I will hibernate and hope to get the all clear on Wednesday after my next blood test.

The important news of the day is that my tumor markers are dropping!!! I don't have the exact numbers (will get on Wed), but this is an indicator that this chemo is working for me. I am crying for joy.

I'm very happy to read this news of improvement in your numbers, Louise, I hope Wednesday's report is good news for you, and lift up your spirits!!

It is still raining here, a surprise for most of the "regulars", lol.

Susan, I was just thinking, if I had to serve a Thanksgiving dinner right now, I wouldn't be able to pull it off, have not even seen any of those normal sized turkeys yet. Do they have Thanksgiving in England? Or was it new to you after you arrived in Canada? My mother didn't know about Thanksgiving, when we immigrated here, they never had seen a turkey, and the relatives came into the kitchen and threw a dead turkey on the counter by the sink.

Later.

Hello, everyone. Although I joined a couple of years ago, I haven't posted much. I have read through a couple of threads here at The Golden Years and you seem like a friendly and caring group, so I hope you don't mind if I join in.

I just celebrated my 50th anniversary (by eating pizza buffet, I'm sorry to say - but sure enjoyed it). I have 2 grown and married kids... one of each, and 4 grandkids.

My husband was diagnosed with diabetes in 2011, the same time I was diagnosed with prediabets. That is when we started eating low carb. Thus began the search for good low carb recipes, and that is what brought me here.

Am looking forward to getting to know all of you better.

Yeaaaa, Mary Ann, "Miss Missy" & I did our walkies!

(ahem- sorry Verleen- I mean walk!) sure felt good but am feeling it now as it has been too long not walking.
Louise- that is beautiful news about your markers. I go every 3 months to my oncologist for blood work and am always "clean" as he says. I do not understand what it really means and plan to ask him Wednesday at my appt. and what does it mean will happen if it is not clean??? Cancer is back? tons of test??? more surgery???? Colon resection was Jan. 13, 2011 showing only stage 1 which they thought was higher. Does Bob have that blood work every 3 months as well?
You and Bob are beautiful in the way you have lived with and carried on with the both of you having so much treatments. Much prayers for you two and admire the great inspiration you are for everyone.
Need to clean on the kitchen some but don't feel much like it doing that.
