Thanks for the start off, Doris and have a fantastic time tonight.

See everyone tomorrow.

Norfolk Mermaid 10-12-2013 01:45 AM

Good morning Doris and thanks. Hi, everyone.

A not too long nap just before dark yesterday and back to bed and asleep a little after 9: so up at 4:30 this morning. A light rain is falling and making me feel tired. Tomorrow is supposed to be the last rainy day. I am missing the good old sun.
No plannings for today or tomorrow althouh may go see "ravity" with Mary Ann. Her fathers black moods and constant rage at being old is really etting to her so I suggested a movie for a distraction. Anger is a big symptom of Diabetes which his is not controlled very well. Most of the time I am so happy to be living alone.
Let's us do up a real fine week-end everyone.
btw- I loved Burlesque with Cher and Aqulliara- not as good as Chiago but fun.

Good morning, Lainey - it looks like we both were up early this morning! Let me know what you think of the 'Gravity' movie - I can't decide if I want to go see it or not.

I sure hope Doris had a good time last night - I'll look for her posts today.

Congratulations, Susan on your granddaughter's recognition. Still sending hugs your way though, to keep you snug during these anxious times.

Waving to all - Loretta, Sharon, Gladys, Linda, Julie, Babette, Joni, Verleen, and anyone else I might have missed!

Good morning all-

I was up at 4:30 also. Don't ask me why, but these days I can't sleep in. Going to bed at 9:30 may have something to do with it.

Made broccoli cheddar soup yesterday and pumpernickel raisin bread. I'm loving my bread machine (not low carb stuff, but these days I'm a bit more relaxed). Have dough for kaiser rolls mixing now.

A friend of a friend is giving away a small chest freezer which we will pick up later today. I'm really looking forward to having one. Our fridge freezer is small and, as much as I love to cook, it will be handy to be able to freeze things. So many recipes make far too much for 2 people.

Susan, I'm glad you have the option of additional opinions. That's a very good thing.

My friend Lauri is seeing a specialist on the 28th. She has a breast cyst that has grown and her gyn wants her to have it checked. She is still getting her period at age 57 so this may be just a cyst, but better safe than sorry!

Bob is playing in NYC tonight. I wish I could go, but just don't have the stamina for what will be a very late night. They play from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am, and we are at least an hour north, depending on traffic. Just too late for me. He'll probably get home around 4 am.

Not too much else to report.

Have a good one!

Great to see your post Louise,:hugs: Thank you for your encouragement. Glad that your friend is getting that cyst scanned. I too was late finally ceased at 58 years, so lots of estrogen exposure over the years. Enjoy your 'new to you' chest freezer.
Yes, best to lay low these days during treatment until the energy returns.:hugs:

Hope you manage to get to the movies Lainey, any movie is a good distraction huh?

I am off to the Park in 15 minutes, for the walk with the ladies group.

Waving to All and hope to bbl...

Hi again to all.

Man! This dreary, rainy weather is bringing me down big time. At least the tempts are a real nothing- not up / not down which means nothing whirring and I really, really like that.
I' ll bbl.

shenue 10-12-2013 07:25 AM

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all well !!!

Verleen 10-12-2013 08:34 AM

Its a bright, sunny Saturday here. I'm trying to decide on whether to cook since both Rich and Cathy have the weekend off. Or go out to dinner. Cathy loves that old Saltzman Hotel. Maybe there. Or I could make spaghetti sauce from scratch.

We could toss a coin. ??? Who's got a coin?

Louise, you are inspiring me. I use to make cinnamon raisin bread and a hearty oatmeal bread. Oh I made these pecan sticky buns that you could die for. Very good.

Susan, enjoy your walk in the park.

Doris, how did your evening out go?

Begete 10-12-2013 08:58 AM

Good morning...drizzling here. No major plans for day,,,dinner out with friends tonight.

Have a good one.

Mssarge 10-12-2013 10:49 AM

Hey y'all...feeling much better today after a good night's sleep and the "vein poke" bruise is a bit better as I put ice on it last night. Weather is typical SoCal and will be getting into the 80's all week and hitting 90-something later this week. Nuttin' planned for today and will definitely stay out of trouble, tho'.

Sounds like most everyone is having a good day...Lainey, enjoy the movie and don't let the weather get ya down...after all, I'm sure you'll have worse coming in a month or so. You're probably just missing the walks.

Rachel Ray had a good recipe for minestrone on yesterday's show (which I recorded and watched last night) so am thinking of making that today...I love a good soup. Other than that, will probably stay close to the house today.

Have a good one folks, and find something pleasurable to do (still waiting for Doris's report on date night)

mykneesareback 10-12-2013 12:01 PM

Well, shucks! I'm just now getting online, goodness! We had a "good night" all right, didn't get home until after midnight, the band played for almost 2 hrs., but the show didn't start at 9 pm, it started at 10 pm! So we got there around 7:30, ate a good dinner, and they had music playing, and people watching was the top sport. We have heard this band on the Sirius radio Outlaw Country channel, they play Tex Mex and older kind of stuff, but I hadn't ever seen what the band looks like. We sat at a table reserved, 2 of us on one side, two reserved on the other, not touching close together. 2 women and a man came and sat down, the man was real friendly and interested in how we heard about the group. Then he saw on our table, a sign that said "reserved for Doris" and said, Oh My God, are you the Doris who posted on some health site that you were going to see the Tejas Bros. and the show wasn't going to start until 9 pm, and you wondered if dh would be able to stay up?? Yes, I said that, and we laughed and he introduced himself at the accordion player and the lead singer of the band. He said he felt so bad when he read that message, because he knew the show began at 10 pm, and he wondered why the restaurant posted it as 9 pm. lol Small world. so sorry about the long story, friends.

We danced until dh's hip froze up, and that was enough for us. It was a fun night.

The phone rang before 8:30 this AM, we were just crawling out of bed, the kids were coming in half an hour to bring Silas by, so they could go do son's xray and pick up his special steroids and some other drug he has to start taking tomorrow at 8 am, because of that CT scan on Monday. Even though we don't drink, dh said he felt like the old days when he would have a hangover after a night like that. But it worked out, the kids had breakfast out by themselves. They went to a pumpkin patch, but we are staying put, dh is napping right now, and will grill something when the kids get done with that.

I was supposed to do laundry today, ;).

Gladys, your Clarence should let people rub his shirt for good luck, I have never heard of anyone with such good luck at a casino in my whole life, how fun and exciting to win, even though you pay money into it, too, it's still exciting to win!

Lainey, hope you can perk up, does the rain make you calm and sleepy? I love the rain, especially if you can hear it on the roof.

Louise, I can understand that you can't be out those late hours to see your husband entertain, and isn't it great that he can do it again, that's wonderful. You can use the rest, and you do have things to do to keep you occupied there. A freezer is a great thing to have!!!

Mary, typical warm so. cal. day, sounds nice, enjoy it at home, something must be on tv for you.

Begete, enjoy your dinner out with your friends, will it be the Thai place?

Verleen, I wonder which choice you will pick for today, cooking yourself, or dinner out at the hotel? Do you have more than one bread machine?

Hi Linda, I forgot what you had planned for this weekend.

Waving at Shenue.

Michele, are you getting any of this shower stuff they predict for today, maybe a bit more tomorrow? Are you doing errands today.

Susan, enjoy your walk and conversation with the ladies group.

I need to catch up on emails and family news, daughter in law in Calif. was laid off of her job last week, worked there 10 yrs. So not a good time for them right now.

Take care, sorry I'm too long winded today.

modon69478 10-12-2013 01:04 PM

Doris, so glad you had such a good time last night! No, no rain here yet - but, they're predicting some to reach us between today and tomorrow. Sure hope it does!

I took the pooch for a second opinion earlier today - he has a fractured tooth that I wanted to have someone take another look at. He's not in any pain and it's not affecting his eating, but I still wanted another opinion. It looks like we're going to keep an eye on it for now and get an x-ray when he has his next annual checkup, to see how the root is doing.

Are you going to see the new 'Big Tex' this year?

BBL,
Michele

mykneesareback 10-12-2013 05:31 PM

No, we were going to go, but son has to work all next weekend, so we don't want to go alone this time.........I think by next year, they will have done some "cosmetic changes" to him, too. There is a smaller display at a museum in downtown McKinney, by the artist that made him, and it looks different than what the company did who did the enlarged "Tex", they changed his face when they put it together. No one knows why, either. ha ha

We had to watch our Collie's teeth every vet appt., she had several ones going bad, and they removed them all at one time, dental surgery at the office. But she was older than your dog.
