FRIDAY'S Roll Call, Oct. 4

Howdy Doody, friends. :shake:

Lots of people busy today, has anyone seen any prices or sales for turkey's yet? Just wondering, Canadians are having Thanksgiving soon, so some of them on other boards are looking for sales already now.

Friday is our 44th anniversary, so we are hoping to go to Texas Roadhouse for some steak or something along that line. I would like to shop at Aldi's, have heard about it, but never been in one.

Wishing everyone WELL.

Happy Anniversary Doris. :jumpjoy:

Good morning to Lainey and Evon and all the late posters.

Yesterday was beautiful here with sun shining. I could go outside if I wore a sweatshirt. Today, not so nice. We are heading back to our old house to do laundry and do an inventory of items we need movers to move for us. Plus bring some more smaller stuff over. I swear, a year from now, I'll be posting the same lines. I hope not. Cathy is off today and will probably be over later. If I'm up to it, I'll make a pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravey dinner. Which means, we'll have to go to the grocery store. I never freeze meats for future use. I don't like meat that has been frozen. Is anyone else this way? Also I don't like leftovers generally. There are exceptions, like Thanksgiving dinner leftovers. Yes, its coming up but too soon for me to look for sales. I buy fresh turkeys.

Yesterday was also good because I felt good. I had some days preceding that were pretty bad. We all thought the end was here. Rich was running around with the phone in his hand. He wanted to call 911 for an ambulance but I wouldn't let him. I wouldn't let him call Cathy either and worry her. But I rallied and since yesterday I feel I am over this hurdle. I suppose one of these days I won't rally. That's okay; just life.

Have a good day people.

:jumpjoy::heart:Happy 44th Anniversay Doris and G. :heart:

Enjoy your evening out together.:love::hugs:

Rainy day up here today but we have had such a long stretch of glorious sunny weather in the mid 70's, so I guess the earth needed some rain.

I have an appt with a surgeon on October 17th so things are progressing along.

Yes, Thanksgiving up here is next weekend. I will be going to DD's, so no hunting for Turkey prices for me. I think they are around 1.25 lb fresh are much more expensive of course and DD always gets fresh. I would go for frozen if I were doing the Turkey dinner. Ha! ;)

Wishing All a good day and hope to check back later...:D

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes! We are going to Hank's Texas Grill for lunch, and to Chinese place for dinner. The kids are taking us tomorrow, to Gaylords Grapevine Resort hotel, by Lake Grapevine, never been there, but looks pretty online, lol. Going plant shopping in the morning, it's supposed to be "cold", for here tomorrow morning.

Susan, I'm glad you have the surgeon appt. settled and can prepare your mind for that. :console: :shake: You will enjoy the meal and time at your daughter's for sure.

Verleen, I was just wondering how you were doing! I haven't made a pork roast in a long time, think I'll look for one today, we want to try Aldi's. Yes, I think you are right about us all posting the same things next year, lol.

Hi Lainey! Hi Msevon2, how are you doing, back on the "air" it seems?

Have to hurry and shower and so on, it's sticky out there, going to hit 90 something still today.

Mssarge 10-04-2013 09:46 AM

Good morning all...temps going up here and the Santana's are blowing. Everyone's so nervous about the possibility of fires so keep your fingers crossed we get through this weekend safely.

Verleen, glad this last episode is past...and hope the next one is as safe. My doc didn't like my tale of a recent such and added some more meds to the daily dose.

Happy Anniversary, Doris, hope the plans are everything you dream of...as usual, your comment took me down memory lane. Both for the anniversary plans but also your mention of Gaylord Resort. No, I've not been there or even heard of it, so will check it out on line. The Gaylord name was instrumental in my early life in Oklahoma as E.K. Gaylord owned most of the big businesses in the City. Lots of good memories associated with the Gaylords...hope the resort is a great memory for you.

Nuttin' planned for the day and will try to get some stuff that needs doing around the house...type ya later...have a great day folks.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DORIS AND G

FROM me as well.
Just broke the bank again in the supermarket this morning. Even though I used a ride-a-round my feet feel a bit sore so off come the socks and tennis shoes.
Should have taken them off before putting stuff away but I am always in a hurry to get that done.
GARDEN work needs some catching up as well as new stuff accomplished. Yeppers on the same lines written next year!
Whew, am thirsty as it is a hot, HOT once again today. Local weather gurus are sayin this is August weather.
I offered to sell a kidney to buy a pound of rare roast beef at the deli counter but went for it anyway 6.99 for a very thin sliced pound. Yummy as I slathered a bit of Hellmon's on a small bowl and scarfed it down. Times like that is when I love Atkins.
bbl need to get crackin- heat or no.

Same old, same old is my song also.As I get older there is less of it.
No turkey here, don't do that much cooking any more.Houston going to Chili, maybe one of the others will cook.

Best wishes to you both Doris. Happy Anniversary and enjoy your eats.

Don just called and he's on his way back from playing with his boy toys. He needed to check the sites on his rifle.

It's been nice catching up on my tv programs and now have some chicken in the crockpot with a bottle of salsa and chopped tomatoes over the top. Later will add some cream cheese and serve it over some fake rice (cauliflower). That's about the extent of my day.

So glad you're feeling better Verleen. I too wait for the fresh birds when they come available. I wish we lived closer to the turkey farmers.

Have to see what else I can get done before we get the boys together for a short walk. Still wearing my ped. :)

Glad you had a rally Verleen, just hang in there. Happy that you were able to stay calm.

Begete 10-04-2013 05:55 PM

Happy Anniversay, Doris. Sounds like you are having a delicious anniversary.

mykneesareback 10-04-2013 07:20 PM

Thank you ALL for your kindly Anniversary wishes. Yes, Begete, we were on a food spree today, dh just felt like it, lol, and I didn't cry NO! either.

Instead of Chinese dinner, we went to Texas Roadhouse, it was great, and a young couple sat across from us, it was their First Anniversary, they were so cute, he had on a cowboy hat, and nice western shirt, she had on a gingham dress, looked sort of uneasy at the attention.........

After lunch, we went to that Aldi's, so many on other boards have raved about that store, and this one was not very good at all, lol. Drove almost to the other side of Plano, and you had to pay a quarter for the shopping cart, which dh couldn't understand. They had a lot of really "off" brands, it was nothing like what I'd been led to believe, with German products since it's owned by the German group of stores. I did buy a frozen duckling, dh has wanted me to fix him a duck for several years, but they wanted too much for one at Safeway. We went home, after that, took a nap, until the phone rang, woke us up, and it was Express Scripts mail order pharmacy!!! Had to call them back, then call the liver specialist, than call the other doctor, so on and on, messed me up......

Sorry to go on and on. Sharon, how are your plants doing in the barrel?

Verleen, I'm hoping your pork roast turned out well. What do you do with leftovers, from that, does your husband eat them at least?

Begete, what are your weekend plans?

We had the stupid cell phone wake us up last night around 12:35, I rushed out to the kitchen. Didn't recognize the number.....but it upset us. Later in the AM, I called the number back, it was from someone in the tiny town near where we used to live, talked to the mother, it was her teenage son, fooling with the phone at 10:35, dialing numbers wrong, he was supposed to not use the phone after 9 pm...........she apologized. I hate late night phone calls.

Good NIght, gang!

Doing just fine Doris. I think they will be just fine with plenty of space to spread out. These clippings came from the main clipping which was from my Grandma's home. They have been around a very long time. :)
