EXERCISE Week, Sept. 22 - Sept. 28
 
:high5: Susan, glad you are showing some improvement with your sore knee. My tendon feels less painful to me, maybe it's all in my head though. But I think the exercises are helping, if only I would stay off the feet more often.

Loretta, that's a good idea, to drive to some area and walk where it's not full of travelers and whatnot to get in the way.

Another week of wandering and doing something active, whatever pleases you, friends. Safely............:)

Well, walked our sandals off today, had to walk a long way from the parking area to where the balloons were set off, down a steep, rolling, grassy hill, they had signs warning that you could slip on the grass, so we were careful with the stroller, it was so steep in spots, we had to all hang on to it, Silas thought it was fun...........they had like a carnival set up down there, kids stuff, food booths, and selling stuff. They did have some picnic tables, so we walked all over, then we ladies found a table while the guys got some food, then we gals when to get something, while the guys watched the table. After all the balloons went up, time to go back up the hill, lol. Next time, we want to have a wagon and just pull that up and down, better wheels.
But it was fun, hot, but not humid. So, walking is my exercise for today.

Glad you had a good time at the Hot Air festival Doris. That's neat that you are there close to your DS and his family.

Did waltzing for dancing exercise this AM, had good music, and plenty of room can do the sideways stuff better than moving forward, lol. Foot exercises, and weight bar and weights today. Jack LaLanne stuff after supper, nothing on tv anyway.

I did the Costco Run, so walked around lifting and carrying, loading and unloading the car, then putting stuff down in the basement freezer.

Walked the dog 20 mins.

A Costco run is always worth a lot of calorie burning, just thinking what to buy messes up our minds!! ;)

We went to Social Security office, finally found a parking place, and hoofed it to the nice, big, bldg. Place was pretty full, we looked around and decided to try to do it by internet instead. I just hate to think up all those passwords and user names, and I have to do it for dh, and it takes too long. Internet does not save that much time anymore.

Drove to Wal Mart, hunted up and down the aisles for this and that, put in one of those instant camera's, and then proceeded down the aisles. Took us a long time, dh was checking stuff out, too this time, didn't stay in the car.

That's it, putting stuff away here is still part mystery to me, where to put stuff, toss out other stuff to make room, etc. I need to do the weight bar, for my back and shoulder issues that have come back.

Doris I sure do agree with you on this: Internet does not save that much time anymore.
By the time you get it figured out your session has expired or some such and you have to start from the beginning again. Won't the SS office call you if your request that on the web site???? Look around there.

Walk and exercise workout this am and then another hour walk with John this afternoon.

They may call you, but when it suits them, and no way of knowing just "when" they will call is the problem. The site shoots out an email thingee, to fill out and send in, and they do promise to answer.

I hate, when you need to get into your bank or credit card site, all those passcodes, user names, photo pass codes, and stuff you have to go through just to get in and look at the information. It was a lot easier when they just mailed you your statement, period!

Did my foot exercises and weight bar, and some squats late this afternoon. That's it for me.

Weight bar, weights and Jack LaLanne's in the kitchen, and more in the dining room, so I could look out the windows. Squats right after getting out of bed and done with the morning foot twistings.

Susan, is your granddaughter back at school now? Just wondering, how tired she might be because of the time change. I always found it harder to adjust after coming back home, then when we arrived over there. Just a thought, not trying to pry!! :high5:

John has some sort of tendonitis in his foot. Resting, icing today. I think he will be ok.

Loretta, is John's foot better today, will he stay off of it today though?

We walked around the neighborhood a bit this AM, after the yard sale across the way, took a look around the curve, this street curves around in an odd way (to me, anyway), and there is a school bus stop yonder. The other way, you can head several blocks to the main drag that you need to get to shopping. Most people wave at you, smile, and talk, so far. Have met no Californians yet, most are from the east coast.

Just finished my weight bar, weight routine and have my Jack LaLanne special chair in here, dh is napping.

Doris, DGD was okay with the time change. DD made sure DGD had plenty of sleep. DD is having a harder time with the jet lag feeling low energy reserves. She does demand a lot from her body though. Running again, and gym, walking the dog, then the rest of the days chores on top of all that. She is in bed for 9pm every night though and up at 5 am.

Not my kind of routine for sure. I go to bed around 12:30 and up around 8 am suits me just fine.

1 hour Walk with DD and the dogs.

Knee physio exercises.

Yes, that jet lag is hard coming this way, there is a reason for it, which escapes me at the moment, lol..............

Thanks for the reminder, I need to do my third round of pushing my foot backwards and forwards, lol. Forgot, too many dishes to wash tonight.

Doris, DS called from Montreal, he had a 3 hour lay over. He was enroute to Vancouver from Paris, now that is a time change for sure. I think he will feel some fall out there. He has been in Paris all week for a trade show and then is going directly over to Vancouver for some clients over there. No time to come home in between. Ha!

Oh my goodness, Susan, it's a good thing he is young and perhaps "used" to it by now, lol. Just think if he was going to Asia, he would be returning to the day he just left, lol.

John has not been walking the past few days but did today. He still has a problem with the foot, icing now and taking anti inflammatories.

Exercise workout upper and lower body, walk. Cleaning house.

kitchen counter pushups, Jack LaLanne's, showing son how I do it, lol. He brought over his 12 lb. weight for me to try, he goes to a gym and doesn't need it.

Loretta, I sincerely hope John's foot is healing as the days go by. These things are slow to heal.:dunno:

Walked for about an hour at the beautiful park by the river today.

Did my physio exercises for my knee.

They are definitely working I see slight progress daily, just will take time.:up:

Isn't it funny, how slowly those kinds of knee, feet, ankle things heal? Others have told me 6 months, and at first I couldn't believe it, but I do now. I usually do my last set of foot props in here before going to bed. Susan, I'm glad you are gradually seeing results!
My son is the one who encourages ME, he has been going to 24 hour Fitness for 15 years already, and his wife has begun some classes just last week, too. Now that we are here, we can take some of the slack of taking care of Silas for them, so they can do some other things. :)

I'll start next weeks thread later tonight. Pleasant evening, everyone! Boxing is on tonight on HBO or Showtime, doesn't start until 9:15 though.....:D

Walked for over two hours at Watkins Glen. Town was full of bikers and other tourists, so I had fun watching people.:cool:

Doris, where the heck do all of your dishes come from :eek: with only two of you there and occasionally your son and family?

It ain't just the dishes, it's the pots and pans, cutting boards, little things that can't be put into the dishwasher, I fix deviled eggs for dh every day, he has snacks, coffee cups, paraphernalia that can't be put into the machine. I fix 3 meals a day, salads, bowls for salads, etc. lol

UGH, sorry you have some things that can't go into the dishwasher. I take it you don't have the pot scrubber option.

Mine does and can also do cutting boards , salad bowls and even delicate china, if I decide to use that.:D

It has buttons for china, glassware, cookware, etc. , but, a lot of the cookware I use is older, and the handles are not made for use in a dishwasher, I do put the newer stuff in there. The stuff I use for steaming my veggies and things is old and reliable, but some of the dishes I use are over 100 yrs. old, lol. So I hand wash them. Truth be told, I think I could use 2 dishwashers, when people come over!!
