THURSDAY'S Roll Call, Sept. 12
:high5: Once more, with feeling, folks...............:)

ocali 09-12-2013 07:54 AM

Good morning, Doris, and those to follow.
Louise, I think of you on a daily basis and hope all will be okay for you. Great news about your dh.
Woke up this a.m. To find that our entire park of over 1100 homes is without water. Just as I was about to jump in the shower.
Have a good day, folks.

LoveMontana 09-12-2013 09:34 AM

Thanks for the start off, Doris.

Julie, bummer on that water problem. Hope it is an easy fix.

Too damned hot and humid around here but that cold front is supposed to move in sometime soon. Been promising it since yesterday.:annoyed:

Shalbrihil 09-12-2013 09:37 AM

I had fun doing the polka with my Dad. When I was around 2 I use to ride on the tops of his feet. Hope you enjoy some time down memory lane today.

Julie sure hope your waters back on now.

Mssarge 09-12-2013 10:08 AM

Good morning all...Thanks for the start, Doris, and Sharon, thanks for the memories...

I hope most have good thoughts of the polka...my best was my 18th birthday. I was this transplanted Okie to the SoCal and all my family was musical. Any family gathering wound up with everyone playing some instrument and those who weren't playing were singing along with the bunch. I had a few friends over and the party was dying, so I thought "what the hey..." I got my dad out of the back, put on a my polka record and started dancing...none of my new friends had ever seen the polka, let alone tried to dance to it...before you knew it, we had everyone up and dancing. May not have been the best birthday part in SoCal that night, but everyone, especially me, had a good time.

Gotta think about making new memories. Hope everyone has a great day today.

Begete 09-12-2013 10:19 AM

Good morning and Thanx for the start, Doris.

Mary, DH has had several melanomas removed. He sees a dermatologist every 6 months to keep them in check.

Awaiting the arrival of our new desktop. Apparently not only does it get installed, but we get to ask dumb questions for an hour or so. Wish us luck.

mykneesareback 09-12-2013 11:58 AM

Good Luck, Begete!! Maybe you will get more than an hour and a phone number as to what to do if it does not work right after the guy leaves.......:)

Sharon, thanks for that video, love the Polka, my Dad was in a dance band in Germany, played the piano, we I learned to dance on his feet, too, so to speak. It's good exercise, you can dance or just march in time to the music.
Thanks for posting it!

Linda, we aren't going to get some cooling until late Friday, but it looks from the weather picture that you and Susan should get something earlier, and Loretta also. Lainey too, unless the coast there does something to push it away. Waiting for FALL !!

Julie, I do hope the water has been turned back on for you and your neighbors there, gee whiz!!

Mary, when is your next dermatology appt. ??

Loretta V 09-12-2013 01:01 PM

Thanks for that memory Sharon. I enjoyed Frankie.

My in laws used to love to Polka, I couldn't quite get it.

Mssarge 09-12-2013 02:54 PM

Hey y'all...although our temps are in the mid-90's it feels much better without the humidity and I've been able to get some things done...not completely enervating anyway. Horrible what's happening on the front range...loved our time in Colorado Springs and, many times we thought of retiring there...BTW, Doris, C Springs has a laaaaaarge German population and many folks consider it the American Alps. Many festivals there all year 'round especially Crystal Springs that was having the bad floods a day or so ago.

Babette, this isn't my first one either and I do get checked every six months...I'm always hoping they'll just find and treat the keratosises...keratosi? hmm, wonder what the pural is (and of course spell check isn't helping). I go back the 27th for the removal of this one...funny, tho', since I got the diagnosis, it's been itching and smarting like crazy...funny thing the mind, huh?

Lainey, was thinking of your today as I read through a freebie I picked up for my Kindle today...Afternoon Tea Breakfast casseroles, muffins and scones. She has a recipe for fresh fig muffins; she just dices 'em, rolls the dice in flour to add to a muffin recipe...sounds good and maybe a thought for your figs next year. Which made me think, I guess you have to prune all of the major limbs as the fig grows fruit only on new growth. That would be a major undertaking on a large tree...do you get help on that?

Got my planters cleared for my new fall color, now to get them into 'em. Back to work...

Dyin from the heat.... big storms maybe tonight or just later before dark I hope with storms thru the niht and again in the AM. Usually that really means all around me but we'll see.
much cooler tomrrow and really cool on the week end- yaaaaa! For now it is murder out there. gonna make a big lime ade with a ton of ice and swill that down then make another to sip along on.
Great cancer support group meeting but some of the members are so very sick that it makes you want to cry listening to them. I went to the thrift store and went through all that was in the big "Good Will". I love taking my time as I can do when alone.
bbl want to check on those storms now.

SuSUN 09-12-2013 04:20 PM

Thank YOU Doris for our kick off.

Just getting here, busy days as I help DD prepare and pack for their trip to the UK.
DS will be back on Monday and then he leaves on Thursday again for Paris. Whew!
Keeps me hopping trying to keep up with them.

Lainey, I hope to get to posting a pic of my fur baby soon. I have to be ready to face the challenge of that.:stars:

Oh Julie, hope you get that water on soon. Electricity and Water are the two things I really miss, when they are turned off.:dunno:

Waving to All and hope to bb tomorrow...

ocali 09-12-2013 05:33 PM

Water came back on about four hours later, thank goodness.
Lainey, how is your air conditioning working? I hope you are using it.
I, too, see the dermatologist twice a year. Several "things" removed on face and elsewhere.
I recall my daughter dancing on her daddy's feet, too. Lol

Norfolk Mermaid 09-12-2013 05:35 PM

nope... no storms or even just rain here.
still miserable hot.
susan, no worries... i just kept at it till i could do it.

LoveMontana 09-12-2013 06:20 PM

Ah the polka:love: This Irish. German, French Indian grew up in a Polish, Slavic, Hungarian neighborhood and just loved the music and , naturally, the food.

SuSUN 09-12-2013 06:44 PM

Lainey, I can't click on, You may post attachments, nothing happens. I guess I will need to go to a hosting site after all. Thank you for giving me step by step instructions.

I will try Cheryl next.

Mssarge 09-12-2013 09:56 PM

Dang! darn site just lost my post....

Susan, I was just asking what photos you have on your computer? When you do the attachments thingie, it should give you an option to browse your photos and you should then be able to transfer to the LCF site. At least that's the way I do it...no need to go to another portal. My problem is a bit different this furschluginer laptop won't recognize my phone as a source even tho' I downloaded the driver from the Android site...I hate 'puters to pieces...but we can't do without 'em nowadays.

Hope you had a good day.

click on Post Reply...window opens
click on "paperclip" above writing window - separate window opens "manage attachments" You have two options, "Upload file from your computer" and "Upload from url"
click on Upload from your computer "choose file" - separate window opens showing all photos in your computer
Double click on selected photo and it transfers to your LCF list at bottom of the manage attachments window , if you single click, it will transfer the file but leaves your photo window still open
The manage attachments "choose file" should show the title of your photo
move to where you want the photo to appear in the "post reply" window and
click on the "upload file" and photo should be there
