EXERCISE week, Aug. 17 - Aug. 23

Wishing Loretta a safe drive to her son's to help with wrapping bread up this weekend!

We will each do as much exercise as we can, and what our bodies currently can stand, even on other boards, there are some ladies with injuries prevented as much movement as they used to do, just "go with the flow" folks.

I've been trying to do my own foot therapy, moving it around gently and so forth, and massage..............will let you know if it works.

Otherwise, trying to unpack and go through more odds and ends, still haven't found the tiny piece to upload photos from the newer camera, know where it was, but either I lost it, or the packers put it into one of the boxes from the office room, it is so small, just in a plastic bag for sandwiches.

That's it for today, we are chilling out, tomorrow the kids come for grilling in the late afternoon.

How nice to have a like minded "partner" to walk with, Loretta, good for you guys! No, I didn't take the picture, got it from a tv channel in Calif.

Still got the sore knee, so nothing too stenuous.

I can feel the muscles twinge in my arms and shoulders from yesterdays upper body work out.

I walked up and down the corridors at work today and pumped my arms as I walked. Not too much done today, lots of sitting at work on the phone mostly making calls.

I walked the dog after work for about 20-30 minutes.

Susan, I notice also, at my advanced age, when I did weights again, I felt it more than usual, and also felt it in my hip and behind area more. Hope your knee recovers well. I notice new pain in my right wrist, when I lived in Calif., I had pain in the left wrist, but that just vanished, lol. My dh notices that his fake left hip does not hurt here like it did back in the "north country". One wonders if the humidity does the difference, or the altitude, or if it's just the all around warmth??

Doris, Yes, I think you are on to something there regarding the humidity and altitude. Our joints are barometers and sure let us know any changes huh?
What are you doing to relieve your heel? Any signs of improvement?

You asked if I have a lot of stairs here. I just have the usual one flight down to the basement and one up to the bedrooms about 12 stairs on each.

Each day goes by and my knee is definitely on the mend so I am pleased with that. I will have to be more careful now what I expect this ole body to do physically.

Kids brought their two doggies, plus grandson, so we were out back with the soccer ball for some kicking and throwing, had to keep getting the ball out of the shrubs........that's it for me. Was cooking and prepping a lot today, seems to take me longer now than it did in Calif., must be the altitude,

We walked the huge Target today, from one end to the other, and back, still couldn't find the garden center, it was not right there so you could walk out into it from the store.
That's it for me.

We took a nice lake walk before heading over to our Trader Joe's to do some shopping. Has anyone heard of the pirate buying from Trader Joe's and selling it in Canada? I caught that on the news this morning. Needless to say TJ's not happy about that.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was happening though, Sharon. I think people from Canada do that, with Costco, people who live on the border, same as with Mexico.

Later!

Yes, wish we could get into a better routine sooner, but the unpacking and sorting and distributing is taking it's own sweet time. And no one else can do it, really, dil tried to help, but she doesn't know where I want stuff. lol One thing about this house, there is plenty of room to dance, the tv room has wooden floor that is still all empty in the middle, and the kitchen has lots of space to move around, some would say, too much.

Today I danced, dh put on some good music this AM. That's it, putting Christmas decorations away.

Time for a light lunch and then to the bank and Sears to pay my Discover card bill. Oh joy! We'll be back to zero once again! Doris just remember the more you're on your feet the more exercise you get. Have a nice day!

I've been remembering that since age 12 1/2, Sharon, so it doesn't help anymore, lol. All the oldies but goodies, at this age, you just do what you can or feel like.

Did kitchen counter pushups, and that's it for today. Still putting away Christmas ornaments and decorations, so we can find them one day.

Doris I wish you luck in finding those decorations when you want them.

I had a nice walk today and stopped to visit a road that led to a chapel. It is a family chapel with a small cematary. I enjoyed looking at the headstones. The road that I walk is named after that family. The cemetary was well kept with small rest benches there.

Workout before walk.

Loretta, I used to enjoy walking around old cemeteries too, reading the dates and names was interesting to me. Even in Germany, their cemeteries are so very old, and several people all rest in the same grave, over the centuries.

Sharon, did you like to do PE when you were in school? Several of us on different exercise boards all noticed that many of us hated PE, and it was one of the things that led us to grow up not liking exercise of any kind, the way it was taught was one reason, with all of us in those stupid gym outfits, standing in rows jumping up and down, lol lol..

Did weights today, and found the weight bar, finally. It had been hidden in the garage. Found old Sesame Street magazines for Silas, and Masters of the Universe ones, also, as a reminder for our son, who was a huge fan of that stuff. Off to finish laundry and dishes.

Walked for an hour and half around the stores so not a brisk walk just on my feet and upright.

Walked the dog on the bike path for another 30 minutes.

Small hand weights a few reps.

Did weights again, different ones, lol. Kitchen counter pushups. Went out front and walked up and down the elevated front walk, neighbors must have thought I was nutty, but you can feel it in the thighs.

But, I put up my foot at dil's house, while she cooked supper for us, she was worried because the side of the ankle was swollen.

See yah tomorrow!

Doris I hated PE as well. I love walking but my foot and knee have to be not hurting before I venture out. The weight I'm carrying right now is a big factor on how they feel. I take advantage of the good days though.

The scale is slowly moving down so I'm hoping to be out there more and more. I do better on flat ground. No dirt paths.

Gee Doris you have been playing with that foot for a while. Maybe it has a hairline crack. This is sure too long for it to still be swelling up. Hope you find the right doctor.

Walk and workout upper and lower body.

Had some xrays done this AM, to see what is causing it, Loretta. This regular doctor told me that have a podiatrist in that building for the Senior clinic, so that will be easy for us to find, thank goodness.

Walked from one end of Tom Thumb several times, looking and looking for stuff, that store is 3 times bigger than our Safeway in Calif., has pharmacy, and a whole section of just "things", odds and ends, but I could not find the corn starch I wanted to get, had an old one in Calif., but tossed it because it would not have been improved riding in a hot moving truck.....I use 2 tsp. of corn starch when I make dh's stir fry, but he noticed it has been missing lately.

Weights later this evening, and we are staying home so that will be easy to do.

Susan, you are lucky to have a dog to walk!!

Sharon, I understand about walking on flat ground, no holes and gullies, etc. Our old backyard had a lot of gopher and snake holes and bumps here and there, too. I have injured my feet and ankle there several times. Take Care!!
