Thanks for the start off, Doris. You two must be really pooped.

Just saving my place here for tomorrow. It's almost 12:30 AM so I'll be off to bed in a few.

New person 35down here. Still awake here at 12:30, too. Husband and I decided today to take a quick trip to Washington coast to enjoy a bit of ocean breezes. It has been such a busy summer so far that we haven't had much time to 'just enjoy'. Felt a little bad as it was over a six hour drive for my husband to get us here, but will be fun to walk the beach tomorrow and watch the charter boats.

Anyway, just wanted to pop by and say hello. Hope you all have a nice sunny, happy day. Good night now!

Good morning and thanks Doris.

Still feeling a little sicky. NO more Golden Corral for me- course my fault entirely. Mary Anne is blaming the chicken we ate but I think we both just went wild.
90's today and that sure does not help. Going out right now to yank some tall weeds while they are still damp. May rain or storm after noon. I hope!
Y'allins all do riht today in any way you can. TV arden guy says to think about the winter veggies planting now.

Good morning all. Hope your day is great what ever you are doing and where ever you are. We have been so busy at work this week and with job, that is not great because we handle all the problems and they were galore this week. I finally had enough on Thursday and put in for vacation all next week. Then woke up sick yesterday so called in. I am feeling a little better today. I have a problem with my back. Thought it was my knees, because of the osteoporosis and breaking that right knee and arthrittis but I found this new stuff and started using it and my knees feel like they are perfect now. No pain at all and only used the stuff a month. But my bad is still hurting, so maybe the pt was right and it is all coming from my hip. Will get it checked when I go back to Dr on Friday.

Doris, hope all goes well with your family. Enjoy your new home and being with your family and friends coming in and the weather. Did you get your other house sold yet? Hope it wont take long. My daughters mil owns the one across from me and she has it up for sale. She had thought she sold it and the day before the papers were signed, the girls boy friend killed her. So sad. She had 3 children who now have no mother. We never know how blessed we are til we hear of what others are going thru.

Begette, sorry about your broken rib and all that pain. Do you have it wrapped? I think that is all you can do for it. Hope you feel better soon.

Linda, did they do the stent again? My husband had to have that done also.

Lainey, it could have been the chicken. Heard once that a lot of our problems come from chicken. But od ing down help either. Congratulations on your size medium shorts.

35 down, welcome and enjoy your trip. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Verlene, guess yall are moving now. Hope you enjoy your new home and all goes smoothly.

Doug, hope you enjoy your vacation. Sounds like a long relaxing one. Is it cooler up there? I love seafood.

Mary, hope you have a good day. I admire you. Thank you for serving our country. Go for it girl. Hope you win big with the slots or whatever you play. Have a good weekend.

Everyone else, God Bless.

No stent yet. The Aneurysm isn't quite large enough.
How long has it been for your DH?

Hi Lainey, bummer on the still feeling bad because you ate at the buffett.

35 down, enjoy that little get away to the beach. LOL you mean to say you "let" your DH drive?? Personally, I can not ride with anyone.

Heading off to the Amish market today. BBL

Good Morning All,

There's quite a bit to do today - laundry, computer store, bank, dry cleaners, hair dresser, and grocery store.

Hope you all enjoy your day and take care of yourselves,

G'day all...slept in again...if you can say "sleeping in" if you're up several times during the night...for me it's usually just a quick trip to the loo and am able to go back to sleep right away. It's saturday and nothing's planned for the day..our temps are still below normal which is a real gifty which we accept gratefully.

Babette, our low temps are caused by a low sitting over your area. Are you getting a lot of rain from it? The couple of times I was in your area I was so impressed by the "green." Being a desert-type person, my eyes soak up green whenever I can. I'm sure that's why Doug likes going into the Pacific Northwest...the fish is only secondary...although that's pretty good too.

Thanks for the nod, Evonne, 'twas my pleasure and what a wild ride it was, too...the best thing I ever did. So glad my husband supported me all the way.

Time to feed the tail waggers and make another cup of coffee...have a great day folks and may great things come your way.

A big Thank YOU to Doris for our regular start ups, while you are going thru the wringer too.

Linda, DD wants a 5th Wheel like yours. She said it will come in handy for all the horse shows up and down they attend. She has been paying a small fortune in hotel bills, not sure if she could drive one though.
Do report your catch from the Amish market love to hear of those things.

Hi Michele, you always seem to be running errands on the weekend. Work kind of gets in the way of life huh?

35 Down...wish I were, 35lbs down. Ha! Enjoy your special time together walking the beach and such. Sounds a heaven sent to trip to me. Drink in all that scenery and the boats.

Lainey, sorry to hear your tummy is still upset. So many food bourne bugs out there lately too. Your system is handling it well, and it will pass as you know.
Any progress to report on the papers Lainey?

Mseveon, Glad to see you still posting with us when you can. Sorry to hear about your knee problems. Yes poor alignment from our spine can cause knee problems. Glad you found something that works, care to share the name of the product? Thanks.

Waving to All our friends, hugs and have a great productive Saturday.

This morning, I awoke to a commotion in the kitchen.

We have a one gallon plastic watering can with a long spout and a smallish hole at the top where the water goes in. Somehow Blue got his head stuck in the hole. He either jumped or fell off the counter and was running around trying to get his head and neck out of the watering can, leaving the water that trickled out everywhere.

I finally caught him and freed his head - it was quite a tight fit- but in the process and in our mutual panic he clawed significant skin off two of my fingers, so there was blood mixed in with the water everywhere. John wasn't home.

I wrapped my fingers in a towel, called John to come home, and we got my hand bandaged and he cleaned up the blood and water which were everywhere.

Blue is soaking wet, but seems OK. But had one of us not been home, he would have drowned or suffocated.

They say bad things come in 3's so the rest of this year should be a snap!

Tiny progress SuSan-

Got a letter from the new insurance home owners that they will be sending an inspector for the outside of the house. Lawd! and Land's Sakes... it past the inspection just fine on the Ins. I walked away from but I do so want the place outside to look real spiffy so it'll be 10 hr. days out there till they come and go. Now watch it rain every day! I cannot get cut a break for the whole of 2013 so far. Whatta you gonna do? Just endure I suppose.
My Best Beloved Grand Cherokee Limited will go in for "plastic surgery" on Monday and I am asking for prayers or best wishes for my moneys worth. I did not report it to the insurance so my Platinum Card will be just about maxed. Tomorrow will be cleaning it out which it sorely needs anyhow so that will at least be a break from the mountain of weeds I have been pulling for the past several days. Enjoying my yellow squash but I think the bunnies are enjoying my cukes. I'll see tiny baby cukes one day and silzhs the next. I know there are bunnies cause I have seen them and they are so cute. Remember "Watership Downs"? I loved that book. A "Priest" at the hospital where I had a emergency appendectomy gave me that book. I am missing my winter book reading but this winter and winters from now on will be divided between yard and house work and my piano lessons/practice and then novel reading at bed time.
Time for a turkey sandwich or some squash & eggbeaters. I like to sear the squash & onions in a little evoo on one side then flip them and add the EBs turning the burner way down and let them set then add lite salt and lots of black pepper... some good eatin that. Eat it riht out of the pan like the live alone bear that I are.
Starting to look like rain- TOLD ya didn't I ?
Yes, our Doris is a true fine hostess for this site. G*d Bless Doris!

OMG Begete,

Poor Baby Blue! Made me want to cry for him but THANK HEAVENS you were home. That is some high drama. Tons & tons of extra lovings for him this whole day please, please- Red too of course. I am betting Red will give him a good licking all over so Blue will be one sparkling Kitty. Anti-biotic cream for your fingers ( I love the band ades with it already on them ) . I had a awful cat scratch infection once in Charleston, S.C.

Mary, we had a nice steady rain yesterday....our first rain of any sort since mid June. It sure was needed. Our fire danger level was at the highest alert.

But today the sun is shining and not a drop of rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future.

Lainey, I don't know who was more frightened, me or Blue. He seems to be fine now....not even a smidgen embarrassed.

Hello, I'm checking in, enjoying reading all the comings and goings and doings of everyone, but sorry for Begete's poor cat, and the scare Begete had from all of that! Sorry for poor Lainey and the car breakdown, insurance issues, if it ain't one thing, it's another!

Susan, I think it would be a good idea for your daughter to get something personal to travel and live in, with all of those horse shows coming up, I can imagine how expensive it is staying at motels. Are you having any company this summer from relatives in England, by chance?

Michele, you keep a busy Saturday going down there in Austin, I imagine you are quite used to the heat!

Linda, are you planning another trip soon? I imagine it would be north.

Thinking that Verleen must be moved into the new place by now, hoping she is feeling ok after all of that, stress personified, and not feeling well is double.

Mary, my friends up near where we lived say it's lower temps, and unusual for August for them, too.

Our son set up a Skype account, so we want to get my brother to visit our mother and bring the I pad and try to do some of that one of these days or evenings.

Hi msvon2, hope you feel better soon, or find out for sure "what's what" so you can get some relief!

Hello, 35down, I've been 35 down several times . Sounds like a nice day on the coast for you and your dh, enjoy some good seafood, if the prices don't shock you.

Son, dil and Silas were here this morning, they hired someone to bring our couch here, so they had to show them where we lived. They went home after having lunch, and will return with the friends that arrived awhile ago, burgers will be cooked, the young guys are going to barbeque. That's the plan, anyway.

Linda, hope you enjoy that wonderful Amish market, lucky YOU !!!

Off to hunt for some more old toys for Silas, they are out there "somewhere" still in boxes, marked wrong.

Doris, hope yall have good weather and a great time tonight.

Linda, I take an oil called krill. Made from shrimp. They say it will do away with heart attacks, but it works great on arthrittis too. It is supposed to bring down the cholesterol and it already brought my bp down also. So I bought more. Hubby died in 2006 so between 2004 and 2006. He fought a good fight though.

Sorry the curiosity almost killed the cat and you got the wrong end of the stick. Keep a watch on your scratches. They can get infected so quick.

Mary my aunt was in Air Force. Met her husband and they lived in Oklahoma and then Texas.

Hi Doris, Susan,

You're right about keeping busy on Saturdays - I could run a few errands during the week, but I prefer to come straight home from work. I don't think you ever get used to the heat here, but I did learn how to deal with it. You know, getting up early to get the shopping and laundry done, and trying not to use the oven unless absolutely necessary. I don't think I'll ever get used to the high electric bill, though!

Take care,
Michele

new here

Hello
I just started induction Thursday and am down 3. I know that is just water weight but it still made me happy.
I'm doing a combination of Adkins induction and Cheat to lose diet.
1st week is pretty similar, both very low carb.
I have a question
Do I count the veggies as carbs. I made a big kettle of homemade chicken soup, it has broccoli, mushrooms, celery, cabbage. That all has lot of carbs as I put in a lot. Do i count all them carbs even if they are the good carbs? I end up with 30+ a day. But I lost 3 # so must be ok?

Cookie,

If you're keeping track of your carbs, then, yes, you count the carbs in veggies. If you're able to lose on 30 carbs a day, that's great! Everyone is different. Glad you've joined us.

asparagus
broccoli
brusels sprouts
cabbage
cauliflower
celery
cucumber
green onions
lettuce
mushrooms
onions
peppers
radishes
snow peas
spinach
tomatoes
zuchinni

Oh Babette, so sorry about your fingers and Blue and him getting his head stuck in the watering can. Good grief!! Those animals can give us gray hair.

Lainey, they should just talk pictures and measure the outside. Not a problem so don't worry too much. It's common for them to come to do that.

Susan, we don't have a 5th wheel. We have a Class A, 34 ft. Georgetown Motor Home. No need to tow that with a large truck.

Amish market was OK but didn't buy a thing this time.

Mevson, my stent will be for an endo vascular repair of an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, not a thing to do with the heart.

The Atkins diet brought my husband and my blood lipids into stellar territory. Even our physicians are astounded at just how high our HDL levels are and how very low our triglycerides are. HDL in the mid 140's and triglycerides in the low 40's. They have been like that for over 10 years.

Gladys, the nice thing about being retired is we can sleep when ever we feel the need.

Cookie, congratulations on the three lbs down , and with Atkins, you do count the carbohydrates in vegetables.

Hi to Mary and Michelle.

Doris, how is your son doing? Hopefully his pain is minimal.

Nice that they hired someone to bring the couch to you. It must be starting to feel like home with most of your furniture in.

Rain stopped for a spell (thunder & Lightening brings me inside pronto) .

Natch I went out and like a inlisted person in boot camp "I dropped for 20" in a few more weed patches. Storm just came back and T&L chased me in and now it is a pretty steady rain. It is nice to have a break from the watering can for a change.
Nada on telly as per usual but I will check for a oldie on American Movie Classics which I get free. Watched "Dark Shadows" from Blockbusters yesterday and did not like it at all. Depp was himself but wasted on that dud. Poor Michele P. has aged right along with me- found that sad and her acting was a study in her being bored... what a shame. Don't go by me though- I never liked "scarey" movies at all and cute ones worst of all. Although, the original Frankenstine is a beautiful, incredible movie- I mean the 30's one... hmmm would even like to see that one yet again even after seeing it every time I could. The weddin scene is WOW!
Havin a hungry day so I think I'll open the farm stand canteloupe and plan to eat a ton of fresh corn on the cobb for sunday dinner tomorrow also from the farm stand.
That's my life and it is what it is!
bbl
Sure hoping "Blue" is getting lots of gentle neck kisses all around his pretty neck. Aren't we due for some new pics Begete? When you feel better though.
