Let's get through it together, friends!

See you in the morning! We are distraught, son has to have an ultrasound tomorrow, they are testing for prostate cancer, he just found out today.

Please don't mention anything about our son on Facebook, no one else knows about this.

Thank you.

Doris, sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. Your son is young for that, so let us hope it is something else that is benign.

DH and I are muddling through. He only has 2 more chemo sessions and then they will run Ct scans to check on progress. They cut out one of the drugs that has the worst side effects and will just do 2 more of the milder one. I am battling neuropathy in my hands. Will see a neurologist next week to see if there is any other underlying cause. Since it is primarily in my right hand, my oncologist thinks there may be something else going on. Usually chemo affects both sides of the body equally. Certain supplements (B vitamins, calcium/magnesium, and glutamine) seem to help somewhat.

Not too much else to report. Have a lovely day.

Oh Doris- so very sorry about DS... prayers for

it not to be so.
Time for anti itch cream but may be a "bite" near my elbow on top of the forarm. The inner forarm looks clear???
Puttin the cream there anyway
Thanks for wake up call Doris.
I am "bundled with home owners and Jeep Insurance" with 4 X the coverage with a 200.00 dollar per year savins. I thought I posted this. Number Jumbled brain here that will take a few days to recover from.
Make it a great day everyone and thanks for that cool down which finally hit yesterday.

Good morning everyone!
Susan, sure hope your son starts feeling better. I had the shingles shot a few years ago, too.
Louise, I hope you and DH will be feeling lots better soon. IT's a difficult road when both of you are fighting upstream, so to speak.
Lainey, it sounds like a great deal on your new insurance deal. I'm looking to see if I can lower my car insurance now that I finally paid the car off. I cut my house insurance way down a couple of years ago.
Doris, sure hope it's a false alarm with your DS. How are you enjoying seeing your grandson so often now? Are you mainly all settled into the house now? How about some pictures??
Verleen, how did you fare at the picnic? It sounds like a nice idea. And, the move will be soon, I guess. Did everything get done in the house as you wanted? What will you be doing with your present home?
Mary, you seem to be running all over the place every day. It sounds hectic. How far is the VA hospital? The one covering this area is about 45 miles away.
I am truly exhausted trying to get the IPad loaded with what I want. There is so much to learn on it. I'm too old to learn this. All my kids, and their kids, have ipads except my oldest son. When he heard I got one, he ran out and bought one for himself and one for his wife. LOL, LOL. I am trying all the goodies on it and spoke with my DD on FaceTime..or whatever it's called last night. Do any of you remember when we all had dial phones and 'they' said that someday we would actually see the person we were talking with? It came true. What a country! :-) I like it better than Skype.

Oh Doris, so sorry to hear that and hope it doesn't turn out to be cancer. When are they doing a biopsy?
My brother went through that about 6 years ago, had nerve sparing micro surgery by the top notch urologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and is fine now. Procedures have improved much since then, so never give up hope.

Louise, my thoughts are with you both and sincerely hope for a good outcome for both of you.

Lainey, we are "bundled" with our Ins. Co. too and do save a lot of money.

Julie, it's a good idea to shop every couple of years for all of our HO and Auto ins. needs. It's astounding to learn just how much you can save.

Changing beds, doing laundry and then a trip to Wegman's and Wally world. BBL.

Mornin', I am up early today. Rich came up in a panic. There's something wrong with Max. He didn't know what to do. I had him call the 'good' vet in the next county and that's where they are on their way to. He wanted me to go but I'm too sick to go. I got Max's medical records out for Rich to take. Some day soon he's going to have to handle these things by himself. I hope the vet can find what's wrong and do something. I held the dog for awhile and his breathing is rapid and not right and he has a sore spot on his side near his spine. Rich is beside himself. He loves this dog.

The picnic was wonderful. I didn't do anything except make the dressing for the potato salad and decide how many chopped onions to put in it. The weather was perfect - not too cool and not too hot and no wind. The bird literally pigged out. Cathy and Rich made all the food and packed the cooler. Rich always handles the grill. Years ago, I made it easy to pack for a picnic. I have the usual things we need all in zip lock bags in the cooler. They just have to add the ice packs and refrigerated items. They fed me and I didn't have to do any work.

Doris, I hope your son's test comes out negative.

Julie, I absolutely hate my iPad. I should give it away. My husband hates his iPOD and has gone to something else that is easy and works just fine. We do not like Apple products.

We are moving next Wed. Just big furniture. Rich is going to bring the rest over in loads. Rich has decided not to sell our current home. He's going to clean it up and have a realtor give him the options. He may rent it but may not do that either. We'll keep the heat on low and keep the lawn mowed. Rich is hiring someone to plow the snow from the driveway. We don't know what the future holds. The healthcare system seems on the verge of collapsing. Its unbelievable what they have done to doctors in this area. The nurses are next. Doctors can no longer refer patients to the ERs and the new law requires that they treat the patients themselves. Doctors are leaving the profession and we already don't have enough.

Louise, I hope the figure out that neuropathy you have. Your hands are too talented to have any neuropathy in them.

Off to my chair and take meds. To try to feel better. I work at it and it often works.

Hey y'all the humidity is back for another day, then it's supposed to back off again...summer in SoCal...must have some electricity in the air as scaredy dog is trying to climb into my lap.

Doris, sorry to hear about the son, sending good vibes and lotsa good wishes your way...not to worry about facebook, here, as I'm not on it and probably will never be.

Verleen, sending good vibes your way, too...hope things go well for you

Susan, it's 14 miles over to Loma Linda from here. I live on one side of the hills and the VA is on the other side. There are two roads through the canyons and both are exactly 14 miles from my house to there...one is through fairly heavy residential areas but is also a range for a couple of herds of wild burros, the other is through the citrus orchards. So, each has it good and bad sides.

Yesterday I did go to the casino and one slot machine winked at me as I went by to the ladies' so I went back and it was empty...played two pulls and hit a nice bonus round....checked out there with over $200 so enjoyed my trip there even tho' had to go roundabout 'cause they're working on the road through Gilman Springs...but it was worth it.

Have a great day folks...hope good things come your way

Good morning,

Really angry. Philly guests (they moved out here, but to the mainland two months ago) e-mailed they were not coming. That isn't the bad part as we do not care for them, anyhow, but we changed our plans to be available for them, missing out on something we had really wanted to do, and they waited til 3 hours before their ETA to tell us!

Doris, DH had protate cancer in 2004 and surgery. Caught early, it is usually very effective.

Weezie, I take vitamin B supplement for neuropathy and it does help.

Verleen, good luck on your move. I sure hope Max is OK.

Julie - watch out for autocorrect/autofill. You end up typing some weird things

Linda and Lainey, we also bundle insurance.

Mary, congrads on your winnings.

To everyone and those I may have missed, have a great day.

Thanks for your kind thoughts and encouragement. I'm wrong, it is testicular cancer that they are checking for this afternoon, we are on babysitting duty later on, so it's a good thing we moved here!!! They need some help, and we are thankful to be able to step in.

I will post more tonight, and try to address each of you friends

Haven't been on the board for a long time

I'm 70 years old, I'm rather severely hypoglycemic with an insulin dependent diabetic husband, and we have been low carbbing for almost 20 years.

I knew Kevin, and we were working together on some yeast bread recipes when he became too ill to cook any more. I miss him every day.

I would love to join your group if I am welcome.

Welcome Sharon,(dang! your name is so familiar) feel free to jump in anytime...hope you'll join our other threads as well...pleased to meet someone who worked so closely with Kevin. Still use many of his recipes and think of him fondly whenever I crack those files. Won't even try to call you a newbie.

Lazy day here...lots of thunder showers in the basin and, as you well know, they can create havoc by dropping a lot of rain in a very short time. Decided I didn't want to take a chance on any gully washers, so stayed home...thus a DD turned into a MD with a good chance of turning into an UD...oh well, there's always tomorrow.

I did get a load of wash done so the day wasn't a complete waste, played with the pups and reading a very good book...The Heart has Reasons by Martine Marchand. A very good thriller I picked up on the freebie list...so good, in fact, I've got to check to see if there are any others by this author.

Hope your day was successful and good things came your way.

Hi gang! Sorry to be so vacant here lately. We're getting ready for our annual camping trip Monday. It will just be us this time around. BIL's are staying home. SIL broke her shoulder bone and wrist while out walking there dogs. She stepped on a loose board on a boardwalk they have in there little town. Down she went. She is now home recuperating.

We'll be gone from this Monday until the next. I know the week will go by fast.

Doris hoping your news about DS will not be too serious.

Hi Sharon! I'm a Sharon too. I even have a Rose of Sharon planted in my backyard.

Wishing everyone I missed well and success with their goals. Have a great weekend. It's cooling down here. Hooray!

I used to post on here a lot.

I've been cooking low carb for almost 20 years, and I'm still learning. We eat low carb more for blood sugar control than for weight loss these days. (Although I picked up some weight when I was sick for a couple of months and am working at getting it back off.)

It is different when you are 70. I have rheumatoid arthritis, but it is under pretty good control. I also live in Phoenix which means I don't get as much exercise in the summer. We hit 119 degrees last month!

Hey Sharon, I know why your name is so familiar...when I copy files from the forums, I copy the poster as well so I know from whence it cometh. I've got some of your recipes in my folder...I'll have to check out which ones and let you know how much I like 'em.

Glad your back to this thread, hope you stick around for a while...I agree the 70's seem to have a bit of a difference to it.
