MONDAY Roll Call, July 8
We arrived at our son and daughter in laws house early this afternoon. Went to see our house, just love it, but so much room, lordy! Tomorrow, have to go there very early to pay the lawn mowing man, and than do the bank stuff, and check out a refrigerator for the house. Then call to see where the moving truck is now :dunno:

Wishing you ALL a good day, wish it would be cooler!

You are the first person I ever knew to buy a house you had never actually seen. What a relief that you like it!

Happy arrival, Doris, so glad you made it safely...enjoy setting up your new nest.

Glad you like the house, enjoy and take your time placing everything.
Beget, that is good weight loss, must feel it in your clothes now.

Mary, how's the pup.If I was younger I'd ship him here.I love poodles, use to raise them.Last night there was fireworks and Little dog hid some where and would not come out.I worried all night but he was fine this morning.

Lainey,my figs are not ready yet,I chopped on my tree and need to do more.I chop after they are finish.Maybe that made them late.My big tree are LSU purples and the smaller is Celes something,I don't remember what the baby is.Much to much figs for me,so plenty for the wild birds.

YAAAA Doris & DH You are "home"!
I got rid of so very much great furniture because this house is so small- little more than cottage size, and I need lots of space. You are amazing and like Gladys I never knew anyone to buy a house sight unseen.
Gladys my figs are "Turkey" something and they are ancient. The catbird fig eater is building a nest close by but I do not want to share my figs! Will put some foil streemers in the tree the way Dad used to do. Will also move a couple of bird baths and keep them full & fresh near her nest and by the tree.
Blazing hot already and supposed to have been rain but where is it?
need coffee bad.

 Happy you made it safely to your new home Doris. Hope you find that moving truck and a refrig.

Hot and muggy here for this week.

Morning all...Gladys, that's my problem too...I'm a little too old to be taking on a puppy. It'll be hard to lose him, but it would certainly be the best for him....still looking for a home for him, but when it comes down to it, not looking all that hard. I guess I feel that one will show up.

Doris, forgot to the ask...it's too soon to be thinking of the housewarming. Glad you made it and in record time, too. Enjoy!

Have a good one folks...

Doris, woo hoo!!! Glad you're at your new area safe and sound. We'll be watching for all your news on what's going on!
One of the men newly moved into our street passed away last week. The family had a memorial service for him on Saturday. There were about 125 that attended. The family has lived in the park for some years but recently sold that house and bought one on our street. It was quite a long service but the part I really liked was a screen presentation that one of his son in laws made of many, many pictures taken over the past 40 years. It was very touching. This was followed by a huge lunch (which I didn't stay for).
Tonight is Italian food with our street group.

Called the moving company, to see where the truck is, they are trying to get ahold of the driver, haven't called back yet, and it's been 2 hrs.......goodness.

We went to the place this morning to meet the yard cutter, and set up a "deal" so the lawns get mowed every Monday, and dh won't buy new lawn equipment at all, at least for several months. It was in the 80's at 8:30 already. Actually, it reminds me of Anaheim around here. Ha Ha. The Bank of America is 3 blocks away, so we went and ordered new checks there. Went to the local Tom Thumb store to pick up a few items, and that's it for today. Stood in the house and tried to pick out areas to place certain pieces of furniture, Boy, we thought that would be easier to do, but it's not so cut and dried after all. Seems easier when they do it on HGTV shows ;) I am mentally exhausted.

Sounds like you guys are dealing with summer the best way you can. When do you leave for Oregon, Doug? Do you ever go to Gold Beach?

Prepare for the next heat wave or flood, the nation's weather is going nuts.

Doris, Glad to hear you have arrived safely! Hope you take some time to rest a bit. Is your foot still bothering you?

Waving to all,

birdlady 07-08-2013 05:17 PM

Brown Turkey was my dad's fav.they are very large.

mykneesareback 07-08-2013 08:02 PM

I had no idea there were so many kinds of figs, my dh used to want to plant a tree, but he didn't know there were so many, either. Interesting.

The people who were going to buy our house decided not to, even though they paid a small sum to do things already.......they are afraid, they are in their 50's and never owned a house before.
And so it goes...............

Norfolk Mermaid 07-08-2013 10:52 PM

OH Doris- that is maddening about the former house.
Heres hoping another buyer won't be so indicisive. Thanks for keep us in the loop.
I let myself get too hungry this afternoon and I made a big peppered turkey sandwich that was so good I made another adding a dislsh tomatoe from my plants and within a 1/2 hour was knocked out and slept thru 8 hrs straight. I think lack of oxygen from stuffing leaf bags with sweat pouring off me like I was standing under a hot shower for hours. No blistering sun but the heat and humidity was the worse yet. Again the temps did not match the heat feeling at all. 83 in the sun and with a full breeze can feel wonderful IF the humidity is very, very low. I think the pollen counts have been on "Alert" levels and I am sneezing at lot and that " I just don't feel good" that goes along with allergies.
I am pulling weeds as I go along and need an entire day devoted just to the weeds but those 4 remaining hydrangias need to go into the ground pronto.
Had my first yellow squash stealing Doris's methiod of eggs but I used butter to carmelize the onions and used eggbeaters salt/pepper and it tasted a wonderful breakfast that I will enjoy this whole summer and part of fall.
Going to check the news and weather here and maybe do some solitaire and back to bed with a new Women's First but I do feel that I could go right back to sleep.
