No wonder people think they see sea serpents.:hyst:

Just starting us off for Sat. Have a good one. Not much planned for me, except cleaning and some grocery shopping.

Checking in for the week ends first day.

Blissfully cool after some storms that I slept through. Now I am wide awake.
Think I'll go to the 7-11 for a big hot dog to celebrate the A/C for the house coming tomorrow. Monday I'll take the Cherokee in so my new Mechanic "Blake" can see if there is a leak. He did not rip me off for the inspection and secured my liscense plate for free- I am in love I think! Didn't peek at his ring finger but we all know the goods ones are all gone if you are single.
Thinking so much of Doris and DH and wishing them G*d Speed!
Louise and Bob are on my mind as well.
The best to the rest!

Hi Lainey, I thought your car was getting the air conditioner repaired. Wow, you are actually getting one for the house? FANTASTIC!!!:jumpjoy:

LOL hope that new mechanic works out for you;)

Wishing Doris and G the best and hope the move goes well.

Thank you very much, for your good wishes, friends! We need them..

They packed the books and magazines next to my bed, lol. I was going to toss them into a bag for my friends. They packed my slippers and thank heavens dh and I packed our suitcases for the present and the trip to Texas, I'd be without undies!!!

See yah, going to bed.

Good morning all,

Up early today - need to get some things done before the heat gets unbearable.

Take care of yourselves today,

Michele

Good morning all.

We are surviving. I think it did hit 120+ yesterday.
Not too bad as long as you don't need to go anywhere and if you do, make sure you do it early.

Doris, you guys will have to drive through this heat. Keep a cooler full of bottled water.

Doug

Good morning.

We have a professional photographer here shooting our garden. She is going to stop in periodically to catch different plants when they flower, the remainder of this year and next.

As expected, with ONE glass of white wine I am up two pounds this morning even though dinner was a Caesar salad with grilled salmon, no crutons.

Good morning all...woke early and struggled to go back to sleep but here I am at last.

Doris, I guess we didn't say how fast the packers work...can't keep up with 'em no matter hard you try. That's why I separated my three shipments as much as possible so I could keep an eye on the stuff I was taking with me whenever I moved. Remember I did say one time I forgot to empty the trash under the sink and it made the trip to wherever the next port was. Good idea for the bottled water with you..one thing you won't have to worry about is to take a sweater...lol.

Staying inside and staying as cool as possible...today is going up even further...we're looking at 110. I'll be checking out the Wii today, see if I can get the Wii Fit going....

Have a great day, folks.

Made it home from running all my errands (dry cleaners, library, petsmart, dealership, grocery store) and am happy to report the groceries did not melt - it's 106 already; will probably reach 110 before the day is over. Geesh!

Stay cool folks,
Michele

It hit 102 here today, I guess we are being forced to get "used" to warmth, eh?

Mary, what you say it too true, my dh discovered his bag that he puts his toiletries in when we go somewhere was packed, his little special ice chest that he uses for his insulin was packed, but I happened to find another one that he forgot about, hidden in the living room. You can't say the folks who pack are lazy. They earn $8.00 an hour, 3 people, one guy was the "lead" so he must make more. The lady was so happy, dh gave here a whole bunch of gardening books he had, and then we had two bags of really warm jackets ready to go to the thrift store, and he asked her if she would like those, she was happy as a lark! They live in Reno, it does snow and freeze there.

I had no idea they pack mattresses in large boxes that fit, couldn't believe it, I thought they just took them the way they were, maybe covered with a blanket or something, lol lol, the way we used to do with a "U-Haul" truck.

Hoping Lainey's A/C got repaired today, it could feel so nice tonight.

Doug, do they ever do the old "fry an egg on the sidewalk" trick on your news stations there?

Michele, how hot did it get, ultimately tonight? You are worrying me, but I have heard this before, the 24/7 of the A/C being on.

Begete, how nice that they are filming in your garden, what a good idea, to do it during the whole year!!

modon69478 06-29-2013 08:37 PM

Doris, It only reached 108 - But next week a cold front is supposed to come through and cool us off to the 90s. It will take some adjusting to; I hope you're prepared for that. I remember when I first moved to Texas back in the 70s, I didn't have a clue... But, you learn to deal with it, just like everything else.

OMG, just heard "they" are expecting this heat wave to settle in and stay awhile...was supposed to be leaving Monday, now they're saying Wednesday or Thursday. Guess the whole US of A is celebrating Independence Day with a heat wave.

Sure hope Lainey got her ac fixed today and can enjoy some coolth.

Doris, people have never believed me about my stories about the packers and movers and most military folks have tons of them...I guess I was fairly lucky as I had only eight moves while in the service and one when my parents moved to California when I was a teen. They surprised me every time...and yes, the boxes for mattresses have something to do with health laws, particularly with all the bed bug scares throughout the country. Make sure you've corralled all the stuff you're taking with you when the movers show up...they also have a way of working like a tasmanian devil.

The other day when I went to the commissary some little old lady, emphasis on little as they were on a very tip-top shelf, asked me for some help with cartons of chicken livers. I had never seen they carried 'em so of course picked up a container for myself. Cooked 'em up today and made some chopped liver...and my Ninja came in handy creaming em. I almost dragged out my old processor but decided to use the new Ninja and am glad I did. Now, the chopped liver was absolutely delicious...what little I had on a WASA. Now it's chilling in the fridge for my lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to that although I'm stuffed.

Hope your day went well.
