TUESDAY'S ROLL CALL, June 25
Lordy, the time seems to be flying by, but not in a good way, lol.
Have a good Tuesday, friends :shake:
Me, I'm going nutsy. :stars:
Hi Doris....and all to come. It's a bit after 9 a.m. and my trash has already been picked up and my lawn has already been mowed. Next will come the edger guy, the trimmer guy and then the guy with the blower to clean it all up. During the hot weather months, the lawns are done once a week, during the winter it's less often but it does go on all year. (Trash removal is twice a week).
All local tv programs are not on because the Zimmerman trial is being carried by all the stations (based in Orlando). I really don't care to watch it...now, at least.
Just planning to take it easy today.
I may not be on much now but I do read everyone's posts each and every day.
Good Morning and thanks Doris.
Cherokee is inspected! Yaaaa! He even re-attached my front liscense plate which I was terrified was going to fall off and he told me to just come in one morning and he would put dye in the A/C to look for a leak- DA%#! I need a/c some where in my life to just sit in and get cool for a while.
Diabetes is kicking me till I am dead this morning- walking around like "weeble".
Gonna try to do some gardening today since I goofed off yesterday.
Doris, you are almost there!
Morning all...just peeking in the door, checking to see who's around and waving at all who come later...have a good one.
Cloudy,so I'm waiting to see if it starts raining, makes it cooler to feed.
Got the clothes washed and the dishwasher loaded, not in the mood to work.
We had another steamy day up here. :dunno: Although, we had a short downpour about an hour ago and it seems to have cooled things a tad. The blue is back in the sky. I still have the a/c on...not too cold but comfortable for me.
I have had a marathon paper sorting and ditching today.:jumpjoy: It is paper recycle pick up tomorrow. I was actually in the right frame of mind to do it, so things are improving. It feels sooooooo good to get it out of the house.
I must get a life huh?;)
Doris, I volunteer to be the unofficial social director because it keeps me busy too, works both ways. I find out what there is to do around and then send it out to the ladies and encourage those that are isolated to come out even if it just for a coffee or a movie. I get just as much out of it as I put in.
Yes, it is getting close for you now. What a marvellous undertaking, like many others here I wish I could come down to help you pack and then unpack at the other end.:hugs::hugs:
Waving to All and hope to check back later...
Finally able to get in here. Between running around and phone calls to BC/BS about the change in the policy number that screwed up a lot of people in this area. Happy to say that everything is FINALLY straightened out. Whew!!
:console::console: Doris, the move will be over soon and you will be able to relax.
So sorry DH is having pain from the skin ca. surgery. OUCH!! Fast healing wishes for him.
Hi Julie, lawn mowing all year is better than show shoveling some of the year.;)
Sorry you aren't posting more often. We miss people when they don't visit.
Lainey. good that the Jeep passed inspection. Hope he can find a leak and repair it easily.
Can you pick up a small window unit for at least one room in your house? They are really inexpensive.
Hi to Mary and Gladys.
Susan, you sneaked in while I was posting. Good for you for getting that nasty paper sorting job done.
Paper removal is waaaay over due here as well. Several months ao I stopped letting it stay in the house- OUT immediately when it came and that sure has helped but I am tossing stuff with 2008 and even earlier. Sheesh!
I am listening to my I- Tunes collection of songs I have loved all through the years. Should do that lots more often as I really have enjoyed it today.
My "ranch sliding windows" has stimyed me on a window a/c unit and actually I would like that way better that the central air as this house is so small a window unit really would cool the entire house but the biggest thing is being unable to sleep at night from the heat- my multiple trips the the ladies room is enough disturbing sleep without adding the heat waking me up as well. Oh well, I'll do something soon for sure!
Linda, I hear you on business messes- finally getting the home owners insurance had me quaking in my flip flops for weeks but it is done now- hooray!
Did some gardening today but had to stop and wait for some shade to come. Cold water soaked dish towels is a wonder for the sweat moppin and protectin the back of my neck and the "old ladies hump" from the sun. I must say the tan is very pretty though.
Doris, when you are "Mistress of the Manor House" it will all be worth what you are going thru.
Lordy, I would sure love some ice cream and that is one sweet I rarely want... plannin to try the frozen yogert- half the fat and cals but it is the iciesness I am after.
America's Got Talent is on tonight and I looke forward to that. Most of the acts are classy now with just a few awful ones. Actually some of the class acts have taken my breath away with chills and all. Loved the "Marriatchi" rapper mix that was delightful. Not real sure I liked "Under The Dome" yet but will give it another try next week.
I'm spent posting so I'll bbl.
whooew! loving "The Wreck Of The Edmond Fitzjerald" that is playing. In N.Y. that would play on the radio a lot every year in November.
Lainey, look into window air conditioners for sliding windows. Had them in my old house and they worked well but are just a little more expensive.
Portable work well too. My mom had one in her apartment. Google them or check in your local Lowes, Wal Mart, Home Depot , Christmas Tree Shops or even Sears
Yes Lainey we must get You sorted with some a.c. Linda has some really good suggestions there. You certainly need your sleep and some daytime comfort too.
I haven't watched, "Under the Dome" yet. I recorded it for something to follow for the summer months. I may watch it one evening soon. Did you ever watch Jericho? I enjoyed that show and then they canned it.:dunno:
Yes, Julie, Linda is right lawn mowing better than snow removal for sure. Good to see your post. Too bad about your TV clogged up with yet another trial.
I just walked the dog it has cooled a tad from the steam bath. We got sprinkled on but that is okay in this heat. That is my only venture out doors today.
He is having surgery in the morning all his teeth out, poor thing, he doesn't know what's coming. I hope the Vet knows what he is doing. I will drop him off there for 7:30a.m. Hopefully I can pick him up in the afternoon when he has come round more.
He will be my little patient for a few days to administer his meds and nurse him back to health. Ha! I really do need to get a Life!;)
Wishing All a pleasant evening and restful sleep...
Gee whiz, Susan, our Collie had to have most all of her teeth removed, when she was elderly, but she got through it ok........well, she didn't say anything, but seemed to act better. That danged paper looking, contemplating and tossing is enough to drive a person nuts. My problem, I find interesting things, and want to read them, not just toss quickly and it makes my dh teed off. Wishing your doggie well tomorrow.
Linda, glad you guys are making plans for another jaunt, hopefully better weather for it, and better internet for when you want it. I like your idea of one window unit, too. A/C is important, no matter the age, but heat can kill those of us done with menopause aged gals.
Julie, I'm glad you have "people" to do all of those unfun chores at your place. Are you having any visitors in the coming weeks?
Michele, when I asked about which Coast you went to, the Gulf coast didn't even come to mind, lol. Glad it wasn't too far away, then.
Verleen still is not quite moved in yet, she still has a bit of time left, she hasn't been feeling good, and they are finishing up certain areas of the house, some are done, though.
Gladys, you are smart to wait and see if it clouds up or rains before heading out to deal with your animals.
Lainey, I do hope the car person can find out how to fix the car A/C, might be something quick to fix, surprise you!!
Mary, are your tv weather guru's predicting 110 degrees by this weekend? It's supposed to be a super hot weekend, of course, just what we don't want.
Sharon, how are you doing today?
Loretta, how does your garden grow?
The neighbor gal across the street said she thinks it's Christmas, dh gave her all kinds of "stuff", a ladder, tools, redwood table and benches, chains for her pickup, and she took old vacuum cleaners, too. She took my autoharp, will see if she can tune it. Grass spreader, garden cart, she loved it all. Next week, it will be food items, rather than toss them away. She is 53, not married, has one cat, and doesn't know when she will put her mother's house up for sale, maybe next year.
Sorry to be so long winded, friends........once I'm gone, don't know when I can get back on.
Have a pleasant evening, if it's possible for you. The people who bought our house may be backing out, will know later tonight or tomorrow if they are. Another anxious night. :p
Yep, Doris, I'm afraid you're going to have turrible hot weather on your cross-country jaunt...I know you'll carry lots of cold stuff to help you keep cool. When I'm traveling across the desert, I keep a pack of the wet tissues in the cooler, too....overnight 'em in the fridge before we leave and in any motels we had to stay at...so refreshing to have something cool on the back of the neck and temples...strange, if I can keep my temples cool, my body seems cooler. Hope the sale goes through...I hear the mortgage rates are going back up and things could be getting tougher....I'll keep sending the good thoughts.
Casino day again...lost at poker, but made it up on the slots...plus, I had some food money so had the buffet. So that was my weekly outings...tomorrow the gym..
Hope you all had a great day
