I had an Atkins disaster tonight. We were invited to dinner and it turned out to be 4 Chinese dishes, all high carb. I don't think I ate more than a cup full, because not to have eaten anything would have been rude, but now I am starving!

Yesterday broke records for heat and it made me feel so sick. I will consentrate on clean up in the garden today and et started on weed pulling. Also start some much needed attention on house work.
Hoping for smoothe travels and transitioning for Doris.

Up and going strong this morning.Got the cats fed,horses out and stalls clean.I only have four horses so not too bad.
Later will be birds and that number is going down also.

Oh my goodness that Chinese food ordeal must have been tough. WTGG! for staying with it.

Gladys, Oh my you are a hard worker. A farmers life is 24-7 as they say. Four horses huh? Do you have any pics of them? How old are they?
DD and her DH are thinking of cutting their own grass so would be investing in a Deere, any advice Gladys?

I hope to get to my exercise class at 11:30 I am stalling as usual. A gorgeous sunny day up here with temps in mid 70s so really good. PC email acting up lets me read but I can't send out...sheesh!

Avi change is DS in Vegas 2 days ago.
He saw Celine and Donny and Marie at Caesar's Palace.
He arrived in Ft. Lauderdale late last night due to storms delayed flights. He is there for the weekend.

soooo beautiful but going right back up tomorrow and then on. HATE IT!!!
Still feel sicky from yesterdays heat but much, much better than yesterday.
Laundry duty and using the dryer since it is so cool.

Hey y'all...another Friday and midmonth already...my how the time do fly. Thinking about taking car in for oil change; it's only been about 2000 miles since the last change but it's also been six months and the heat is a'comin' so I'm thinking I should take care of the car...besides it really needs a wash.

Loretta, Your guess is as good as mine. I think she must be one of dancing girls.

Babette, Love that saying. Earlier in my nursing career I worked with the elderly and I noticed it wasn't the amount of money one had, but the amount of health and mobility that had now become the currency and prestige in their world. What was most remarkable was the kindness and thoughtfulness of some of the patients that had lost almost everything. The human spirit is amazing. Good Post.

I didn't make it to my exercise class. I was full of good intentions until the last minute then I faded. Ha! I just didn't feel like being with people today.

Took car in for servicing...told 'em I just wanted oil change & filter and even had a coupon they mailed me for a $24.99 special for the service. When they told me it was ready, there was a charge of $69...asked why and she immediately said she could write off and only charged me for the oil change...jeez! Also picked up wheel covers as I had two stolen from the car over the last few months....factory replacements, $80 each, more jeez! But the service rep told me they had after-factory sets for only $40 so guess which I went for. Car looks a lot better with the wheel covers on.

Roller coaster day....this afternoon, I'm on the phone when I hear my Snoopy screaming...run into the back yard and can't find her...hole in fence. My pack are real escape artists...by now, she's quiet and I can't find her. Neighbor has two big dogs so I'm picturing her lying there bleeding and unable to come to the fence....I can't get over it. So call Nadine and she comes over, well I have to go pick her up, and goes into the yard and finds her in the bottom of a narrow ditch. She's a bit scratched and appears to have a sore neck and sides, but nothing broken...hot, dehydrated and panting like crazy. Finally saw her drink some water and keeping an eye on her...

Dang! I hate this getting old and not able to do the things when I was younger and more able. No way I could have gone over the neighbor's fence to retrieve her. Funny thing, tho', the neighbor's dogs although barking when we were on this side of the fence didn't even come over to sniff her when she was on the other side. Told my neighbor about it when they got home.

Now we're sitting around and trying to recover from all the excitement....sigh!
