Let's all do the Hokey Pokey, wonder if I still remember how???

Norfolk Mermaid 05-14-2013 06:23 AM

OK somebody do the words!
Very chilly here.
Drat, a check I mailed to home owners ins. never arrived... what a bother. It has been over a week. I do not have one stupid envelope in this house- I used her business self addressed one.
SuSun is miffed that the shrimpies are run out.
Hope today ends better than this start out!

SuSUN 05-14-2013 08:52 AM

Now let me see...You put your right arm in, right arm out, in, out and shake it all about you do the hockey pockey and you turn around that's what its all about and so on...I think.:sing:
Good One Doris:clap:to start our day. Get's a body moving limb by limb huh?

Still stuck with this head cold, waiting patiently for it to lift. Going out to walk with DD in the woods around noon. At least the temps are milder today a promise of plus 15C and lots of sunshine and a beautiful clear blue sky right now. The dog has been sunning himself on the deck already.

I too wonder about sister Bernadette and the Dr.?;)

Waving to All and wishing you all a pleasant day.

Norfolk Mermaid 05-14-2013 09:20 AM

Oh, this day just gets better and better- I got SuSun's frozen shrimp (on sale) and little bidy tootsie rolls (for my quit smoking) and there was no way I would buy 55 envalopes so home I came and found I had shut both cats in the house AND the FERAL CAT male no snipping done.... my poor house smells like a polecat as he sprayed in just about every room. That fluffy grayish tom disappears for 3 days or so and then he hangs here for a day or so. Goes WILD if I get even near him but I notice he and Aaunt Jane have stare down parties within about 3' between them.
Planting and weed whac day so I best shake hands with the shovel and do the dance with "Jaws".
Mercy I want a ciggy!

Sunny and 61.
Slept late this morning and it feels good, now to go out and clean stalls,C. let the horses out but he is not a stall cleaner.lol
Had a visit with DD just now, never know what the day will bring. She has to have surgery on her shoulder Monday, has not been able to work for over six months.Dr.said she could work but tried and could not. Most don't understand how hard it is delivering mail, getting the mail ready and into the car is a lot of lifting. She has 5yrs left to retirement and would get more pay than disability if she finishes.
Hope everyone has a nice and peaceful day.
Miya is still holding on.

Good morning all...sticking my right arm in and shaking it all about, too. Probably run to the casino for a bit of poker and slots today but have a Women Veteran's meet and greet dinner this evening...waiting to hear from a friend if she's going. so we'll see what happens. Other than that, not much happening here, just trying to stay cool and comfortable...still waiting for my new eyeglasses and the check from the state for income tax return and hoping they come soon. I can't believe H.R. Block didn't do it right when I filed back in February fer goodness sake.

Gladys, sorry about you DD's upcoming surgery...good vibes going her way.

Good vibes for all, hope you have a good day and great things come your way.

modon69478 05-14-2013 10:02 AM

Gladys, Could she get a light duty position? Even with a doctor's note? Answering the phone, behind the desk customer service kind of stuff? I hope it all works out for her -

Begete 05-14-2013 11:04 AM

Good morning,

The problem Gladys's daughter has is that her doctor says she CAN work.
A lot depends on what kind of coverage you or your employer have.

Some coverage contracts deem you disabled if you cannot continue to perform YOUR specific job. Others say you are not disabled unless you cannot perform ANY job.

But as I understand what Gladys is saying, her daughter wants to work until she can actually retire with full pension, as disability does not usually pay as much as a pension, except for SSDI where you get the amount at the time you claim disability as you would if you retired at that time.

Jo's up to her elbows doing pickled beets today. I think she has more that what she thought. The last time she did beets was over 30 years ago.
Only thing left in the garden now is onions.

Begete 05-14-2013 02:29 PM

Doug - is it too hot to grow anything in AZ in the summer?

mykneesareback 05-14-2013 04:27 PM

Doug, my dh would adore to have some of those beets!!! You are lucky!!

I'll bet people that live in Flagstaff, Williams and near the Grand Canyon village can grow stuff during the summer, we saw garden's there in July. Sun City, I think it would be hard to do, my brother's always head home to Calif. when it gets too much for them. But AZ would be interesting to see how they do it indoors. :) Doug, do you pay alot for water?

Hi Susan, hoping your cold get better soon!

Doug_H 05-14-2013 05:06 PM

Babette, too hot in the summer. Spring and fall are the best and we are still experimenting. Planting in February and again in September. We are learning what grows best in spring and/or fall.

Doris, On your way to Texas let us know and we can hand off a pint or two. I can't stand beets but Jo likes them. She managed to save quite a few of the beet greens too.
Water isn't too bad, not as bad as we thought it would be. It's all state and federal regulated down here.

SuSUN 05-14-2013 07:13 PM

Thanks Doris, me too not used to being slowed down with a cold.

Mssarge 05-14-2013 08:01 PM

I've spent the last two hours trying to clean my laptop of some programs I don't know how I picked up...including three freaking toolbars that lead who knows where, I think I have successfully cleaned up the drive and when I came back, the darn toolbars are telling me "thanks for installing" and won't let me do anything else.....grrrrrrr! Sometimes I think technology is taking over the world....well, I know it's taking over the world but I think "they" are working against us. Will try again later or maybe look for some help from my techie friends...if anything, they're even more invasive...

and my bad visits to the casino continue...was hoping for a change and I guess that will be me not going....it's no fun to lose all the time...oh well, I guess that's why they are in business.

So how was your day? Hope good things came your way...

LoveMontana 05-14-2013 09:55 PM

Mary, did you go to the hard drive ( control panel ) to uninstall them? Then restart the computer? That should get rid of them.

Mssarge 05-15-2013 12:04 AM

Yeppers!! dang control panels....I 'em too!!!! Main problem, I think, is that when I try to uninstall what I think is the problem child, I wind up with a spanish language program that wants to take control to do something and the only option it gives me is to cancel what I'm doin g...and I ain't a gonna do that.

If I didn't say it before....I HATE COMPUTERS TO PIECES!!!!!! (an oblique reference to an old carton where the cat is saying....I HATE MEESES TO PIECES!!!!)

still trying to remove the dang thangs.....
