Good morning all.

Up a 4: am today- don't know what is up with that. Good thing though as it took some time to unclog the kitchen sink. All good I think?
Mamo and last P.T. today.

Good morning.

Not a lot going on today. DD has a date tonight so I'm taking the DGS and Maggie to dinner so she can get ready in peace. Its a stolen moment with the kids. DGS will graduate from high school next month and he will be off on his own all too soon. A dinner with them will be fun.

Doris I'm truly sorry for the house falling through. Are you abandoning your Texas plans all together or are you going for another house hunting trip? I hope it works out for you guys and the next house will even be better.

Lainey, good thing you got that sink unstopped. I had to have the plumber out last week to unstop the bathtub and it was $125 for 3 minutes work. Got to find a new plumber.

Good thoughts and hugs to you all.

Anne

Went to the Singles' Club get-together last night at one of the clubhouses. Pizzas were brought in and with the byob it was a fun evening. Of course, it's mostly women but a few men show up (bravely!).
Doris, I think that Gladys has a good idea for you on yesterday's posts.
Heard from Ginny yesterday, she's fine, and they're still in Florida for another month.

Loving these gorgeous days!

No walks on Tuesdays as they are run around days for me. Groceries, gas, and take back clothes that I loved and fit the image in my mind of what size I am only to be brought back to earth by reality. Am not defeated.

Tomatoes planted and having visions of sloppy tomato sandwiches with juice and mayo running down my hands. They will be low carb this year for sure.

On the way to the gym.

Hope today will be what you wanted it to be.

Good morning all...heavy cloud layer this morning with a chance of drizzles...ferchrissakes...in SoCal? In later April? We get this kinda stuff later and call it our "June Gloom." That's okay, it's always climbing into the 80's in the afternoon and I'm not complaining, really, as long as it stays cool and doesn't climb into the 100's I'm happy.

I wouldn't need to manage anger.jpg Doris, I always say "this too shall pass" and, of course, sniveling is allowed, always.

Waiting today for the spa guy to see if he can raise the temp higher than 94 degrees....and later this afternoon it's back to ortho for my next rooster comb injection. I'm missing the annual bake sale at my ol' work place. We've sold all the goodies for 18 years to support our team at the walk for the cure...we have four people who have made the walk each year and have had as many as 25 participants...I'm hoping the spa guy doesn't take too long so I can at least show my face.

Hope you all have a great day and good things come your way.. to all.

Good morning,

Doris, whoever suggested renting for a short time made an excellant suggestion. I wish we had done that here. When you move to a place that is unfamiliar, there is so much more you need to know before you commit to a specific location.

Had a nice day yesterday visiting a botanical garden with friends and then going to a nursery where I bought a few plants. However, I somehow managed to do something to an ankle so I am hobbling around today.

Have a good one.

another gardening question

Hey guys, I'm thinking of putting a couple of zucchini plants under my lemon tress...any thoughts. I don't water the back yard and am not going to start a garden...ground too hard, achy, breaky knees, and water costs here are astronomical. But, rather than put the squash in containers on the patio, I'm thinking that since I water the lemon tree, it might be good place to plant the squash....any thoughts?

Mary - does the area under the tree get enough sunlight for zukes which need sun? Also, you will have to water even more because the zuke plants will compete with the lemon tree for water. If you have been successful growing the zukes in pots, I would keep it that way.

Doris, now that that house has fallen thru, here are some other things to consider:
Given that your DH has medical issues, how close will you be to a hospital? Given our age, how close are you to grocery stores, post office, Dr appointments and other things as we get older to which we may need to walk or use public transportation rather than drive? Does the community have elder services available? How much outside maintenance will be required?

How disappointing for YOU and your DH Doris.
We all deal with disappointment in our own way, women cry, men shrug it off. Do take your time to step back from this.
Then when you are ready dear friend, take a look at some of the advice Babette and Gladys have given, looks like very wise and useful advice for all of us.

I am contemplating moving in with DD if they sell their house and then I sell mine we can get a new home with lots of space, so I won't be in their way and still have my privacy. What could go wrong here?

Babette if I put money into the new home can I go on title or does that become too complicated?

Waving to All and hope to bbt...

Susan, I cannot give legal advice in any other state but Pennsylvania, let alone another country

I can suggest a few things to think about.

First: is this daughter your only child? Do you have any other heirs/children who might feel jealous/hurt if you put money into this daughter's home?

Second: what if your daughter dies before you do and her husband remarries? What if your daughter and her husband divorce?

Please do NOT say that would never happen. I have done so many of these and I would say in about 20% something along those lines happens. You need to protect yourself, your estate and whatever you would want to go to your daughter, any other children you may have and their children and not to anyone else.

What if YOU remarry? What about gift taxes in Canada? Would you be making them a taxable gift under Canadian law?

Before you even consider such a move, I think you need the advice of a lawyer knowledgeable in the laws of Canada and the province in which you reside.

Begete, that sure is interesting advice, one never thinks along those lines, usually.

Well, we may be nuts, but we are back to searching for another house, same area, but cheaper price wise. I talked to our realtor there, and I will look online, and daughter in law will look online, and son and dil will visit some houses for us, on a weekend or whenever, and we will go ahead based on their decision. Several reasons to keep on trying, most of our application stuff is still there and viable, and, our realtor here told us the people who bought our house keep calling him to see if something like this comes up, they do want to buy this house.......at least, that is what was said this morning. The area we are looking at is about 30 min. away from liver specialist center, so it's alot closer than the 3 hrs. we have to travel tomorrow, again, for dh's blood tests, which winds up to be 6 hrs. in the car each time. Next Tuesday, he has his specialist appt. and his numbers are not quite right, so it will be more time consuming.

Sorry to go on and on, again

Mary, hoping you can enjoy that spa, when you get a "free" moment, lol.

Susan, it might take awhile to find just the right place, but it must be out there, somewhere!!

Off to get something done, my internet was down for several hours today.

Susan, I LOVE my kids...and not living under the same roof is why I can honestly still say that. I have stayed with them for longer periods of time and know that I am better with my own kitchen and own laundry facilities. Babette brings up some great questions.

AMEN Sister Anne,

My daughters huge 3 story town "home" was anything but THAT during my last visit.... I love her still with all my heart but my place is with my garden and ***** cats thank you so very much. It is so hard not to cry when she has the will leaving her my home and jewelery (she already has a bunch of it but no more) and they will not help me with the leaking roof even to just repairs.
Sorry for the whine without fruit and cheese!
