Just getting us going.
Spent morning at garden club meeting and afternoon weeding.
Got a new tool called a "hoedag"....for getting weeds out. It's wonderful.
Thanks for starting, Begete. I haven't heard of that tool, did you just "happen" upon it, or do your friends have that already? I'll write down that name so I remember to look for it, at some point.
Wishing everyone well.
Never heard of it before. We had a garden club meeting in February where everyone brought their favorite tool and when I saw it, I had to have one.
See Flat Hoedad Blades
Mine is a little different than this one I googled because it has a blade on each side, one very narrow about 1 inch wide and the other about 3 inches wide.
Doris, What's making your foot sore? Did you injure it somehow?
Hi Ho, Hi Ho.....
Waving to everyone - BBL,
Good morning and thanks Begete for start out.
I have one of those from Dad's collection of stuff. It is still in the 30's mornings and only up to the 40's for highs so I am holding off on weeding for a while.
Today I get my hair washed (never gone this long between- 13 days) and over to the Gen. Hosp. for evaluation for Physical Therapy for my hip and balance issues. That last fall scared me a lot. Staying in bed with the flu helped the hip a lot but it is still some soreness.
Still hatin the "spring ahead BS".
Have a good day all.
Got Maggie's cold from last week. No fever but throat is a little sore and coughing. Hope it doesn't turn into what Lainey had...yikes.
One of the girls I've known since kindergarten lost her husband to cancer this week. The memorial service will be Friday. They are having it at her daughter's home. Is that a new trend that I have not heard about? It seems odd to me. A covered dish dinner will follow the service. I'm going to try to go Friday. It is about an hour and a half away but worth showing my support to her.
Stay strong ya'll...half way through Spring Break. I'm cooking Easter Dinner here. Will have a leg of lamb and a pork loin and asparagus. DD will bring the rest. I promised DGS that I would make him a pumpkin cobbler. Not a normal Easter dessert but he loves it so much!
Good morning all, cooling off a bit here as it's in the low 40's this morning as another front is moving into the area and we're hoping for a bit of rain out of it...kinda strange for us to be getting rain this late in our "rainy" season, but we'll take every bit we can. We're about eight inches shy of normal, only had less than five inches all year...our rain year runs from July 1st to June 30 and most of it comes in the January-February time frame.
I'm going to find new ways to get into trouble as I'm giving way too much in reparations at the local casino...yesterday was the straw so today I'm being extra good. I've been meaning to get my clubs out and hit the driving range to see how it works on the knees and if arthur (itis, that is) will accept it.
I also remember that garden tool from using it for years in my mom's garden...ours had a blad about that wide on one side and the other had two half-inch blades about two inches apart. Boy, did it work well on the weeds that dared to try to get into the garden.
I've a plant that volunteered in my pot I used for cucumber last year just as the cuke was dying off that I don't know what it is...I'm thinking hollyhock has it has a tall spire with small blossoms. Whatever it is it has grown and now I have about five plants in the pot and they're just now starting to bloom. As soon as it does, I'm planning on posting a picture and one of our green thumbs can help me identify it.
My doxie is sick and hasn't eaten except little stuff in two days, so if she isn't any better today, I'm loading her for a trip to the vet..we'll see how she feels late. Puppy is going crazy without her playmate and chihuahua isn't about to deign to play with him.
Off to see what trouble I can get into for today, should be boxing up a few more things as cousin is coming tomorrow to empty my garage of "stuff." Hope you all have a great day; those feeling under the weather start perking up a bit, our travelers arrive home (or their destination) and good things come your way.
added later....Yeah! MeMeMe ate her breakfast and appears fine...no visit to the vets in her future...
I just saw on the evening news that Whidbey Island (where Begete lives) had a very large chunk fall and some houses...on the water....were destroyed. I hope it didn't affect them.
Oh Yikes Julie, I too hope Babette and John are not affected. What was the chunk of?
Doris and Babette, that garden hoe tool looks like it could do a lot of damage.
Sorry to hear Anne that you have picked up that cold. Yummy dessert for DGS huh?
Mary, I sure hope your Doxie bounces back quickly that is worrying huh? Do you think he got into something he shouldn't have?
Lainey, hope you feel better after that hair washing.
Hi Michele, Are you at home or away?
Waving to the rest of our gang. Hope to bbt...
Coming in to say nighty night.
Yes the germy hair is now super clean. The Physical Therapy evaluation and treatment went really well. Deep heat and some streaching felt good. It will be 3 times per week for all of April.
Time to do them (the exercise) in bed and then some newspaper reading and lights out.
Sweet dreams all. Going to see if I can find what fell on Whidby Island on the computer news.
Just read this about Babett's Island and hope she and John are OK.
Landslide endangers 33 homes on Washington state's Whidbey Island - latimes.com
Hi Susan, I'm home right now and trying really hard to lose some of the weight that's creeped back on while traveling this season. I miss seeing your menus on the board - they always gave me good ideas.
Does anyone have a phone number for Babette? That landslide looked bad -
Hope Doris made it home safely. Very glad the PT went well, Lainey.
Waving to everyone else,
We made it home late this afternoon, Michele, thanks for wondering, :) .
Gee whiz, that landslide is awful and scary, I need to check the news, too.
Need to go to bed soon, we oldsters are pooped.
My ankle has hurt ever since I stepped into a gopher or mole hole out back, on the way to the compost pile, and, another time lately, I was rushing around barefoot, and stepped on that metal piece that holds the carpet down in the doorway, and felt pain, but ignored it, because we are usually in a hurry around here doing something. It doesn't hurt when sitting or or lying down, mainly, when you first get up and step on it, or walking up an incline or stairs. This trip with the Grand Canyon thrown in, didn't help, of course. Been walking alot more, but, felt that I had to.
Hoping Anne's cold doesn't worsen. Yes, we have seen these home memorials quite often in the past 10 yrs. or so. In fact, the daughter of our neighbor that passed in Feb. is having a memorial at the house in May.
Lainey, that physical therapy sounds good, hope it helps you very nicely.
Michele, hope you can stay home for awhile again, travel is INDEED broadening...........;)
Linda, how are your other body parts doing, after the accident? Sometimes "something" else shows up later. Hope you can sleep.
Julie, does your company arrive tomorrow? I forget alot.
Hi Susan, has your daughter looked at any homes yet, or will you also look with her to see what is available?
Mary, hope you can get that golf in, if the weather cooperates with you, that is. Glad you didn't have to take your doggie to the vet.
Waving at Sharon, she may come on later, after I'm sleeping and dreaming of packing boxes full of stuff, ha ha.
Good Night! Hope Begete and John are safe, but sorry for anyone caught in that landslide! :console:
I just e-mailed her....
ave her my phone #. I thouht I had hers but could not fine it anywhere. I have Gladys, Anne, Verleen and a few others but not hers.
WOW, I am real worried.
Good evening. Poking my nose in.
Louise, I've eaten two meals that were delivered. The breakfast of scrambled eggs was not good. However the rolled eggplant, rotini and corn mix was good. The secret is to add things to meal the meals tastier. Perhaps some salsa to the scrambled eggs would make them better. I added salt, papper, parmesan cheese to the eggplant and rotini and that helped too. I'm going to buy some small cans of sauce to add to the Italian dishes. And use salt, pepper, parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder and other spices to the dishes to beef them up.
Nothing going on here. Not a good day for me. We are going out to the house tomorrow and I hope I'm feeling better.
Doris, I'm glad you are safely home. You'd better rest the ankle and foot.
Babette, are you okay? I figure you must be because you were able to post.
Linda, how's it going for you after that surgery?
Anne, are you any better from that cold?
