Good morning and blessings on all. We are supposed to get into the 60's today, yeah. I am tired of the winter. Had 2 birthday celebreations yesterday. Glad it is a down day today. But still got another to take care of today.

Lainey, take care of that eye. What did the eye doctor say about it, if anything. I assume since you are using the drops, that they did the surgery.

Got to get busy, time is a wasting. Later.

Hi! Tomorrow is my birthday (Mon., 2/25). At 57, it'll be my 1st w/o cake and all the typical b-day party foods. Still not sure what to do/have. I've only restarted Atkins/low carb approx. two weeks ago. Any suggestions?

Thanks Msevon and all for the prayers and ood vibes.

I fell from a chair when my jacket couht on a chair arm in my kitchen- not a standing position or it could have been much worse. It is itchy now so I take that as a good sign. It is a little sore to touch but am able to sleep on it... cheek got the brunt I think but that swelling is gone mostly this morning. Yes, she relucktently did the proceedure but did examine me just about standin me on my head. A sweet nurse I groveled to talked her into it for me. The chair flipped with me. The bersitis in my hip had given me a break from pain so I had stopped being so careful and think my leg gave out when that foot hit the floor. I stayed up for a few hours to watch for nausea and woosieness in case of a concussion and was OK.
At 2:50 am last niht a crash woke me up and I checked the house and the kitties and all was well so I guessed it was either a train or lightenin. Course the hip pain is back but nothin like it was. Please everyone take this as a warnin. You are not safe even in your home and if you are like me and alone really be careful because it was very scarey. Course 911 is riht there for us but still!
No plans today but to watch the Oscars tonight.
I am going crazy trying to remember a book I read a few years ago about a man that slept in a tree because at night the ground became acidic... anyone know that book?
I will call my Platinum Visa and warn them about the 1000.00 plus charge tomorrow- I have no worries but still want to be sure.
Have a lovely sunday everyone.

Hello everyone. Bobolink, you will do fine, just think about how all that sugar would make you feel. My diet is connected to feeling good and eating the healthiest food I can tolerate. Induction will talke away all the cravings. Two weeks might do it for you, but it took about a month for me to adjust to low carb. Happy Birthday, and hang in there, when you start feeling on top of the world, its easy to eat right.
Hope everyone is enjoying a special Sunday. I am in AL at my son's. He had hip surgery on Wed. and is home from the hospital as of yesterday. I am enjoying being here, but wish he was feeling good. Our kids are always our kids I think. Got to go back and catch up with everyone...Glenda

Good morning everybody,

Gosh Lainey, that was some nasty fall. It's wonderful that you didn't do too awfully much damage.
Yes, we older people need to be very careful about such things.

Was that book "The life of Pi"? The movie is out now and playing at one of our local theaters.

Msevon, Wow!! Two birthday celebrations?
Enjoy the milder temps. Spring is in the air.

Boboelink, Birthday foods are a mindset. How about treating yourself to some King Crab legs, Lobster tail or a great tenderloin...something you don't often have. IMHO there is no better way to celebrate a birthday than a huge pile of Alaskan King Crab legs and a lot of melted butter with a side salad.

Hi ya Glenda, So good to hear your son is home and on the road to recovery after the hip surgery. Hope he is working hard at PT so he can get back to normal soon. Does he have a physical therapist coming to his house ?

Hi ya'll...

Another do nothing day here. I did spot clean the carpets so I could rationalize reading a little this morning then got caught up on Pinterest and haven't opened my kindle!!

It is going to be gorgeous. I am going to DD to watch Maggie play outdoors in a bit. But not for long. Took a steak out of the freezer for dinner...day is made!

Waving to everyone...what a shiner Lainey! wow...

Good morning all...all's right with my world but this is a start of a busy week. I was planning on curling up pack watching NASCAR's opening race of the season...the Daytona 500. Every year the DH and I used to say, "next year in Daytona" Now, of course, it's too late and I'm not going by myself but I do watch 'em on TV. I said I was gonna watch it until a friend invited me to his birthday bash down at the winery, so it's off to brunch I go...will catch up on the races later. (that was a nasty crash yesterday) It's the start of a busy week....I have things planned almost every day, I feel like I'm back at work...lol. Well, it gives me something to do.

Bobelink, I too suggest some kind of a splurge for the birthday..you don't say where you are, but if the weather's nice...get out and enjoy it...go to the park, take a hike in the hills, something outdoorsy...and if it's not, go to the mall and get some walking in, go bowling, or play some pool...something to keep you busy and not thinking about food. Then sit down and have something really special; after all, we're not 57 every year and a lot of folks didn't make it that far. Do you have friends or family around to help you plan something special? That always helps too, good conversation, good friends, good vibes. Enjoy yourself, hon, and don't feel deprived....you're doing something to make you feel special, not downer.

I hope you all have a great day and good things come your way....I'm off to feed the pack and get dressed...

Beautiful sunny day at 65*.Not much going on but as you guys know, that's how I like it.DH is playing Orkin Man,spraying around the house.Later we will probably go to the casino for a little while and also eat or get take-out.
Welcome to all the new people, hope you enjoy us and stick around, always nice to have new friends.
Love the kitty pictures.A friend is going to bring me a kitty for the bird barn,I have mice.Just the smell of a cat is usually enough to send the mice else where. My kitties are wild so no catching them.

It's still morning here and looks to be a beautiful day. We have new next door neighbors and are adjusting to them. Our dogs think they need to bark every time they show themselves outside. They also have a dog so this has been a trial to endure.

We took a fun ride yesterday for something to do. I got a little walk in before with the fur boys and that was about all for the day. I'm enjoying trying different cooking skills and made some bone broth and yogurt from scratch. I've been making my own mayo for sometime now. Yogurt is so easy and I know I'll be doing that now instead of buying. The taste is so much better and you know what's in it. I"m glad Dh has a dehydrator with the right setting on it. Works out great!

I think I've played on here enough for now. Best get busy doing something. Thinking about Doris and her Mother.

Bobolink! Just enjoy your day. It's going to be fine.

See you soon.

Sundays are Good!

So far today, I've cleaned my bird cages (I own 2 canaries); made Cioppino stew /soup for the my weeks' lunches (I just posted in low-carb recipes how to make) if you love seafood it is a winner! And now I'm getting ready to bead!

I am so happy I found this online community, it is inspiring me to eat to live instead of living to eat!!

Have a wonderful day!

Laura, I tried looking for your recipe on the page you mentioned, but couldn't find it. Would you mind posting it again here? It sounds like something I'd like to try - thanks!

Happy Birthday Boboelink. Hope it is a great one. I went over to celebrate with my granddaughter this after noon and I got a present. Her mom was cleaning out her closet so I brought home 4 bags full to go thru. Also brought home enough food to last me a week, since I only eat every other day. Got beef roast and crab salad. I say do what you want for your birthday, but I think it would serve you better to eat low carb this year and plan to celebrate at a better weight with the cake next year.

Lainey, when I broke my knee on Valentines, I did it at work. I am usually so careful because I have gotten caught up in that computer cord before and told jeff I had a problem. I just did not think and it cost me alot of pain. I think maybe I hurt my back too. It hurts worse than the knee now. I took the brace off and slept without it and got up and went to br this morning and no problem, til I got ready to sit down on throne and then it started hurting again. I always take my cellphone with me when i take a shower. I am always afraid I might slip getting in or out. And forgot to get another mat for the tub. Guess will have to make a special trip. Glad you can see again, hope your eye heals quickly.

Glenda, hope your son gets relief from the hip problem. It is a bad surgery for some and still dont always work well. And our kids will always be our kids. No matter how old they get. Have a good trip.

Love Montana, are you origionally from there? I am from NC and always lived here. I am ready to go a little further south though, so if I win the lottery you know where I am headed. We had birthdays all week. Had a party on Monday for a coworker, Tues, was son in law and cousin, Thursday was granddaughter, and Friday was Juanita, she was born 2/22/1922. No more birthdays til 10 march when it is my best friends.

Mary, how did your party turn out. Hope you had fun, but i think you did.

Gladys we had temps in the mid 60's too. It was beautiful. But I ended up getting cold when it was 60 and had to shut my car windows. I already had on a long sleeve knit shirt and sweatshirt.

Shalbrihil, the house beside me and across from me are both available. I saw a young guy trying to get a look at the one beside me this morning. The new youth minister from Ky is going to rent the one across from me til he can sell his house in Ky, I heard. I will have to look up how to make yogurt. We used to go to my cousins and she had cows, so they milked them. Remember mama was churning the butter for her. when she got it out, she told me what was left was whey. Evidently whey and yogurt when you pour off the buttermilk, is yogurt. It is better than what is at the store.

Laura, good to see you back again. Welcome.

Linda, did you find the recipe. I hope so.

Later yall

End of the weekend already!

Hello All,

Hope you all had a good weekend. Please forgive me as I get to know you all. Much too soon for me to do personals. I'll get there!

I got home from my sister's around 2 o'clock this afternoon. We had a nice time. Once I was home I had all the usual domestic goddess duties to tend to. You know, laundry & going to the grocery store...what fun!

I did pretty well with my eating over the weekend. I tried to be very "carb mindful" with my choices. The scale will let me know how I did in the morning.

Back to work tomorrow....another week. Sigh....

Nice that you brought home some low carb goodies.

No I'm not from Montana, but I dearly love that State. We visit almost every year and I have a brother and cousin living there.
Hope you can realize your dream of moving further south. Heat and I don't get along. LOL My comfort zone is between 68 and 72 degrees.

Dang! I just did it again, wrote a long note and then lost it...ecch!

Well I'm back and settling back in with the pack. The party was great. There were eight of us so the talk just flowed. I don't know whether I preferred the food, the wine, or the conversation more; needless to say I liked the friends the most. It was a good thing I wasn't driving as when we left I was definitely a bit tipsy from the mimosas and the winery has a new sparkling wine, sangria. Can't wait for my marketo to stock it as it was delicious.

After the party, Tina and I went to Pachanga for a while; lost my essess but it was fun. I was also able to show her where I think I'd like to park my coach full time. They have a gold course, swimming pool and a tram to the hotel and casino so everyone would know where to find me...the poker room.

I also learned one of the wineries has an inn and a spa adjacent and I'm thinking that would make a great pay back for some of my friends that I owe big time....so don't be surprised if I disappear for a few days when the weather clears up and the hills are green with the vines...sigh!

Thanks for the Cioppino recipe, looks like a great one. Also thanks for the reminder about making my own yogurt...my rice cooker is just the right size for a quart bottle and the right temperature to culture the milk...gotta get back to making my own.

Hope you had a great day...mine was wonderful.
