:shake: OK, hop to it, if you are able to, that is...........

birdlady 02-18-2013 02:32 AM

Morning gang, guess I'm hopping earlier today.
Today is my DD's birthday,we celebrated already, four days ago.
Doris what do you have planned for your Mom's birthday?
Cool here this morning around 34.

Msevon2 02-18-2013 04:49 AM

Good morning Ladies. No hopping for me. I broke my patella at work on Thursday when a computer cord got wrapped around my foot. Been home bound since and I am ready to go stir crazy. We are in the low 20's this morning after waking to a winterwonder land yesterday. The snow melted so just left with the cold. The 1st storm was in the day on Saturday and most probabally the most beautiful snow fall I have ever seen. Then 2nd one came after midnight. But I got a few pictures.

Hope Begette and hubby have a great cruise. My friend wants to take me on a cruise around the world. Having a hard time wrapping my head around that one. This thing with the Triumph did not help a lot. Of course, my daughter has been on that one and no problems on her trip.

I am cold now, so maybe will go back to bed.

Have a good day all.

Norfolk Mermaid 02-18-2013 06:46 AM

Monday is here so begin anew....
Downton Abby's final was incredible. I am in shock but won't say anythin till enough time has past to not spoil it for anyone. Can't stand that it won't be back till Jan. 2014.
ood thin I ot all those Steven King "Tower" books to read... the second one is much easier to read.
Follow up eye appt today. VERY COLD birdies full bath frozen solid so did the boiling water first thing.
Had oatmeal but need the hot coffee fixed to warm me up and some slippers over my socks.

LoveMontana 02-18-2013 07:36 AM

15 frigid degrees here this morning, but the sun is shining.

Waiting to hear how my son's MIL is doing after her emergency surgery last evening for a strangulated hernin. OUCH!!

Liblady 02-18-2013 07:50 AM

33 degrees here this morning.................brrrrr! But, better than 15 degrees for sure. We're going up into the high 60s later today. I think this is the end of the cold snap.

Today is DH's b'day. Going out to dinner with friends tonight.

Julie, a group of us girls went to Winter Park yesterday for an outing. Our husbands were playing in the Can-Am golf tournament. (Canadian/American) Anyway, we ended up eating at a Brazilian Restaurant, very good, plus it was a cute little downtown. Took us about an hour and a half to get there tho.

ocali 02-18-2013 08:32 AM

If I'm not mistaken, I think Winter Park is where the Tiffany Museum is. I remember DH and one of our sons (who is very artistic) drove down there to tour it. They were very impressed, Ginny.

Mssarge 02-18-2013 09:56 AM

Good morning all...don't know if I'll be hopping or not...been trying to get the girls to play with the little one this morning, so at least I've been active.

Saw Maggie Smith's interview on 60 Minutes last night...love that lady. So I'm sure I'll be watching Downton Abby...starting with Season 1 of course.

Trying to figure out if I can live the tail-waggers alone long enough to run out to the casino as this is the last dry day before the storm comes in tomorrow. I'll have to go to the VA on Wednesday, and Tuesday is my preferred day for poker there. because of the specials the offer....add to that this is President's Day (Happy Holiday) and the place is a madhouse on holidays...I think I just talked myself out of going. decisions, decisions.

..sorry about the patella...that hurts. I can certainly appreciate the cabin fever...stay warm and comfy.

Have a great day folks.

Shalbrihil 02-18-2013 10:01 AM

Good morning just a quick stop by to wave at ya. Still boring here but just the way I like it. No stress. Have a nice Monday!

Verleen 02-18-2013 12:44 PM

Hello. I just got home from a hospital stay. I don't even remember the ambulance coming last week. Everything is fine now. I was dangerously dehydrated. I never realized how serious dehydration was. I will pay better attention to my water intake from now on.

Nothing is planned except for drinking water. And hitting the bathroom.

I'm in the market for some wood victorian pedestal plant stands. I wonder if Michaels' or Hobby Lobby have some. Nothing too expensive because of the water risk.

I need to rest in my chair. Still a bit weaker than normal. I will read and catch up on your posts later.

Norfolk Mermaid 02-18-2013 01:10 PM

So sorry for you confinement Verleen. Yes, water so so very important. I have read that if you are thirsty you are already dehydrated but winter sure cuts down on my water intake (only drink water usually here). Did make a very large pitcher of ice tea yesterday.
Please rest up and drink, drink and drink some more.
What is a patella?

Shalbrihil 02-18-2013 01:14 PM

What is a patella?
Lainey I think it's part of the tailbone. Not sure though.

modon69478 02-18-2013 01:49 PM

It's the knee cap (ouch)

Shalbrihil 02-18-2013 02:17 PM

Thanks Michele. I learned something new. :)

ocali 02-18-2013 02:57 PM

Verleen, so sorry to hear you've been in the hospital. Take care of yourself! You've got that beautiful new home waiting for you.

Msevon2 02-18-2013 04:14 PM

Sharron, I thought it was the tailbone too, til I broke it. My poor knee. I had already broken it in 2 other places. Just fell flat on my front this time.

Verleen my daughter got dehydrated once when she was about 2. She had herpes stomatittus which is a fancy name for all these fever blisters around her mouth. Had to put her in hospital and her veins were so collapsed, they had operated and put it in a vein in her ankle and put a sandbag on her leg to keep it down. Think we were there 3 days. So drink a little all along. It is hard to drink when you dont want it, but find something you like. Hospitals are not a happy place to be. Glad you are home again. I could not stand being at home any longer, so came back to work today. Got my leg up on something to discourage blood clots. Maybe we will both be better next week.

Mary you go to the casino? Any luck? Did I hear you say you made a career in the service? 20 years. what branch? My aunt and husband were air force.

modon69478 02-18-2013 04:22 PM

Verleen, Sorry I missed your post earlier about having been in the hospital - am really glad you're back home!

Shalbrihil 02-18-2013 04:48 PM

Verleen I also missed your post. So glad you are in your home and resting. Keep sipping your water :).

Msevon2 that is a big OUCH! I have fallen on my knee and it isn't a fun ride. Take it easy kiddo.

LoveMontana 02-18-2013 05:50 PM

Oh Verleen, dehydration is a very dangerous thing. It messes with your electrolytes. Do drink plenty of fluids to prevent it from happening again.

Ouch on the patella injury. They are very painful and not fun at all.

Mssarge 02-18-2013 06:25 PM

Hey guys, well decided to go to the casino (lost my esses) and the traffic returning to L.A. was as bad as I anticipated, but since it's my late husband's birthday decided to celebrate as we have done so in many years past...kept me from moping around the house and gave the tail-waggers a chance to see how things went with "momma" gone...no major damage and all accounted for.

Yep, MsEvon, I spent 22 years in the Army, then 16 years as a civilian doing the same job...not bad for an old lady who enlisted at age 33. Had a great career and saw a lot of the world...mostly the good ol' U S of A ...what a magnificent country we live in...

I also learned in the Army the value of remaining hydrated and the names of the bones...when I took the EMT class, I taught my two-year old niece the patella...it was so cute hearing her name the bones and emphasizing the patella. I've banged mine a few times, so know how much it can hurt.

I hope you are all drinking lots of water, particularly the night before blood tests...so much easier for the vampires to draw the blood when the veins are nice and plump...as you keep yourself hydrated, the body will release it and keep it all balanced. If you dry out just a bit, your body will hold on to all it can.

Oh, BTW, I was a military broadcaster...not in the medical corps...if you saw "Good Morning Vietnam" you get an idea of what I did...of course, I was mainly in television...if you know any military personnel, ask them about A-F-N or A-F-R-T-S, or maybe you're familiar with it yourself.

Hope you had a great day and good things came your way.

SuSUN 02-18-2013 07:06 PM

birdlady 02-18-2013 07:37 PM

It's raining...again.

Msevon2 02-18-2013 09:03 PM

Mary I know lots of ex military. My ex fiance was also Air Force for many years. Then he became an air marshall and ended his 3rd career being a fed govt angent in food stamp fraud. He gets a good retirement. But he still has that Sargeant attitude and I did not want to be his new recruit. I became an orphan 7 years ago on the 12th of march. We burried my daddy on the 15th and by midnight, I was an orphan and a widow. So I know how you feel. Even though they are gone, they will never be gone in our hearts. We were together for 35 years. My present friend is also ex military. So who knows what the future may hold. Hope your night is good.

Thanks to my friends, I had a good day. Went to work and was escourted in the building by one friend, while another took in my lunch and clocked me in. It is a blessing to have friends and good family. I dont write a lot but I do read every day. Learning about my hopefully new friends. See yall tomorrow.
