Great idea, Linda, but our fireplace doesn't have a mantle. And thank for starting us off.
We had guests for dinner and then saw the new Anna Karenina. Dinner turned out very well, but the movie was terrible. These are our brutally honest friends on whom we try out new recipes that might work for fundraising dinners for the animal shelter. They loved this one. Used the Barefoot Contessa's recipe for baked pears stuffed with walnuts, dried cranberries and blue cheese on a bed of arugula, with a port based dressing, pork tenderloin, roasted herbed potatoes, and a spinach mushroom dish. Dessert was a chocolate torte from Costco. Sunday we are going to a wine tasting. The son of a friend and his wife have started a new business importing wines from Spain. Julie, I hope you are soon feeling back to normal, and that everyone else has recovered. Anne - what did you mean by bleaching the upstairs? Have a good one.

Morning,
I am just sticking my foot in the door this morning. Must be feeling a lot better as I am pretty antsy today so I will find something to do. Hope Julie has better luck getting rid of her bug than I did mine. Babette, I meant by bleaching the upstairs that I cleaned with Clorox and water. The bathroom off my bedroom, mainly. Started a new cozy mystery last night. Think I will read a little today. Safe travels, Susan. ENJOY!!! BBL Anne |

I envy anyone living in a warm climate right now! We're in the 30's today, but going down below 10° tomorrow night. Brrrrr. Have a great trip, SuSun.
I've finally recovered from my stomach bug, I've been sick since Tuesday. I know what Anne meant about bleaching, we covered the whole house in Lysol! I'm afraid I haven't been able to keep up with what's going on with everyone. Verleen-Sounds like things are moving along with the house, congrats! Julie-Hope you're feeling better, make sure you don't get dehydrated like I did. Anne-Sounds like you might have had the same thing, glad you recovered. Louise-I'm glad Bob is coming home (or is home). Hugs, prayers & hi to anyone I missed.

Good morning all...I must be suffering from "old timers" disease, as my BIL used to call it, as I had a thought last night I wanted to post and, of course, can't remember what it was this morning. Oh well, I guess it wasn't much of a topic.
Hope everyone who's ill is feeling better today and all who are under cloudy/cold skies have a nice warm spot in which to curl up and read a book, knit or something you love to do. Good food wishes for all as well....have a great day folks

Thanks for starting us out, Linda! We watched boxing that took until 9:20 to be over with, and just hurried off to bed, didn't even "pass GO and collect $200", lol.
It is 10 degrees again here this morning, all the snow is hard as cement, and just won't budge............dh wanted to wash the car in the other town on Tuesday, doesn't look like it will warm up by then. I'm glad our sick people are returning to "normal". Begete, I'm only interested in the torte from Costco, how was it? We look at that stuff but never buy any, lol. Always wondered if it tastes as good as it looks is what I mean. Waving at you all, I need to get some breakfast going, even my computer seems to be "freezing up", and it isn't the modem this time. Take care of yourselves!

Doris, I can attest to the Costco cheesecake. It's NY style and delicious if you like that type.
Eek tomorrow's doctor day! I'll be glad to see the new location and my dr. is so nice. She has joined the Cuesta Medical Group so I'm going to a different place. Dh likes the easier parking so that's a plus. Sometime this next week my niece will be stopping by for a visit. She is bringing her two little ones so we can see her latest born in November. Looking forward to that. Good to see all the sick ones recovering. Hopefully Bob is resting at home now and getting great cuisine from his beloved. Keep warm and cozy and see you later.

I'm also wondering about Bob and Louise and how that is going, not easy when someone seriously ill comes home, and the caregiver suddenly has to do all kinds of "things"........
![]() Sharon, I've had the cheesecake, but never those chocolate torte's, we wanted to buy one back when our son graduated from high school, but the Costco is too far away for it to keep during a long car trip, and people up here also talk of those cakes but never buy one, lol lol...........it is a standing joke up here. Now, their fruit pies, those we have tasted! ![]() ![]() Off to catch a quick shower, while it's a bit warmer in the house. Hoping Susan got off to a good flight this afternoon! |

Hiya friends. We had a power outage for a few hours. No internet. We have a generator but the computer/internet stuff is not wired to it. Power is back on now.
A nice, quiet Sunday here. My daughters and grandkids are down in NYC. We have to pick them up around midnight at the Amtrak station. I'm enjoying the quiet day. Its been go - go since Thursday. A bit much for me but I'm surprised at how well I've been doing. We just realized today that we have to hire our electrician to come and remove our generator, switches and panel and install them in our new home. We took Anita to see our new house and met one of our neighbors. Very nice man and his son. Wednesday the house inspector is inspecting our new house. On Thursday we meet with the mortgage company. Sometime in the middle of all that, we have to take the cat, Gypsy, and the puppy, Max, to the vets. He is a strong alpha pup and pretty obnoxious. He was biting Molly so bad that the whole side of her face was swollen and bleeding. Last night, she had enough. She nailed him pretty good and put him in his place. He's been respectful of her every since. Well that's what's new at our house.

I had forgotten my password and the e-mail was one I had in AL...EEEKKKK but I finally nailed it. LOL Glad that everyone's health is improving...Julie didn't see you check in so hope you are better too. Wish our weather would improve so you could too. Getting out in the sun might be just what you need. Hope everyone is having a Sunday thats just peachy. Glenda

Evening everybody.
Sorry about that power outage, Verleen, but things with the house seem to be moving along quite well for you. Have fun with the family. Babette, I thought that was cute but we don't have a mantle either. Crazy Cat, happy to hear you finally got over that stomach bug. Susan, have a fun and safe trip. Lainey, stay warm. This cold front is one nasty thing Anne, continued good healing to you too. LOL Mary, many of us suffer from " old timers" disease. ![]() Hi Doris, darned cold in your neck of the woods. Does that car wash have those huge blow dryers? They help prevent locks and doors from freezing. We ran ours through one yesterday. Glenda, So good that you finally figured out the password. They are a necessary evil and a huge PITA Hi Michelle, no Downton for me tonight. This motel has one TV and I'm here with "him" ![]() Had a successful trip and picked up a crimson trace laser grip at half the price elsewhere. Heading home tomorrow.
