Monday roll call, January 14
Hi everyone,
Waiting for DA to start so I thought I would get this up and running. I think we have decided NOT to go to California this winter. I do not think Pandora has much longer to live, and what do we do if she dies on the road? I am not lacing my baby in a dumpster. The only thing I worry about is our son who is so depressed. But I would rather buy him an air ticket for Presidents' Day or something. Have a good one. |

Good morning-
Bob is still in the hospital on multiple antibiotics. Thankfully, they decided against exploratory surgery and have suggested he get up and walk around for some exercise. I took that as a good sign. He hates the food and I must say I am appalled at the horrible nutrition. He is a diabetic and yesterday's lunch was spaghetti with meat sauce, bread, awful bean soup, applesauce, and sf jello. Talk about a carb load! I am pulling together a few food items to bring him because he has no appetite in the face of bland, high carb stuff. Some cheese probably, as he likes that and at least there is protein in it. We are in hopes they can remove the trach in a few more days. That will boost his morale considerably. Have a good day all! -Louise |

![]() Thought this was kind of cute and wanted to share. Louise, food from home is always the best. I'm shocked at hospital food! People are trying to get well not bogged down with starch and sugars! Mary, Arizona sounds like a fun trip. Enjoy your ride Not sure what's happening here today. When you're retired everyday is a holiday and you go were the thought takes you. |

Thanks for the start off Babette. So very sorry about Pandora. Animals getting sick and old is the reason Tod and I will not have anymore.
Cute graphic, Sharon. Have a fun and safe trip, Mary. Louise, one of the reasons I do NOT trust dietitians is because of the guidelines laid out for them by the ADA. ( follow the money directly to big pharm. ) They are killing more people than they help. Good that you are there to monitor his diet. Hi to Lainey and all who follow. |

I didn't know exactly where to post so will do the main post here.
Went to Walmart this morning for cat food and sugar free ice pops, not good to run out of those ice pops. We have an invitation to a b'day party this afternoon for 3 of the Iowa folks. Well actually, one of the 3 is from Canada, he's a bear hunter there, very interesting man. Anyway, it's at 4pm, so we're going there to say "hi" and then meeting friends at the Tavern for RIBS at 5pm. We will have to miss out on the cake and ice cream which is fine with me. Just happy it's not potato chips and dip, I'd have a hard time missing those.Louise, thinking of you and Bob. Someone once told me it was a good sign for a patient to be aware that they don't like the food being served to them, don't know if it has validity or not. Downton Abbey was great last night. Michele, what'd you think? Ginny |

Ginny, I enjoyed it a lot. I felt so bad for Edith. I really hate Thomas; and, O'Brien is so--so-- oh well, you know. Do you think Bates could really be a killer?
Too bad we have to wait a whole week till the next episode! Michele |

I feel like I know all the characters on Downton Abbey personally. I'll be so sorry when it finally ends. So, poor Edith got stood up literally at the altar. Now, what will be the next big happening there? So, I guess you can be in a fabulous castle and still be broke.
Weather is still perfect. Loving it! Working on perhaps going on a long distance trip in April. Hopefully, it'll work out for me. Linda, I am confused...who is killing who? That's a strong statement. People have free will as to what they want to eat. And, what diets to follow. Just asking.

Who are following the recommendation of the ADA as preached to them by Pharmaceutical companies. Big Pharmo stands to lose a lot of money if people get healthy without using their drugs. Like I said, just follow the money. This is an old article, but fortunately many doctors are learning more and more about how harmful carbohydrates are to a type two diabetic. The nutrition advice given to most diabetics might be killing them; diabetes dinner duel - US News and World Report Low Carb Diet and Diabetes - Low Carb Diet Works for Diabetes |
