Howdy Doody, friends, hoping most of us are feeling ok, and solemn thoughts going out to those who don't.............:hugs:

Loretta V 01-13-2013 04:50 AM

Thanks for starting our day Doris.

Thanks too for your good wishes on my new relationship. We are not sure where we are headed at this point except enjoying each others company. We met at church. His wife recently died of cancer. John has become a Hospice volunteer also and has been visiting the shut ins with me. John is very special. I did not think I would have this feeling ever again. :aprayer: God continues to bless me.

Hope Gladys is ok there in La. There is flooding there. We too have tons of rain which is suppose to turn to ice later today. But the roads are warm, so I hope it does not stay.

Norfolk Mermaid 01-13-2013 05:52 AM

Good morning.

It is so warm here for Jan. I can hardly believe it is winter. Have heard that we might be in for it here in Va. if those heavy snow storms make it to us. I am on the Va, NC line just about so straddle North East/ South East and can get both weathers . I do remember many years ago the scientist predicting that there would be palm trees growing on Long Island in the future.
Have a good day all. I am rebelling and drinking my "dern" coffee and not waiting for the "Armour" hour.
House work today with adding lots more stuff to the Purple Heart pick up bags.
Oh, and to finish an "overdue" (I hate when that happens) library novel. "The Orchardist" a first novel by a female author "Copeland"... This book is amazing and I so recommend it to everyone. Should wait till the ending but the writing is that good. I love it when a book drapes its arm around my shoulders and tells me an amazing story.
Thanks Doris and Loretta for the start ups.
Leaving Java alone- it is my beloved double solitaire Russian game.

LOL we did it again. Doris , you and I posted roll call 2 minutes apart. Me at 11:58 and you at 12.

I'll see if one of the admins will delete mine.

This is what I wanted to warn everyone about. It's a critical security flaw in Java, so disable the thing so you don't get hacked and have your computer hijacked.

Loretta, best wishes for what ever will be for you and the new guy.

tatehouse 01-13-2013 07:10 AM

Good morning. Just sticking my foot in the door.

Congratulations, Loretta!

Stay warm all ya'll with unusually low temps. We are going to be in the high 70's again today. I'd really like for it to get cold to kill off the bugs. My pets don't need the fleas! Nor do I!

Good Morning everyone,

Woke up to 36 degrees and its only supposed to get up into the 40s - brrr. Anne, I don't think our bugs are standing much of a chance.

Loretta, I'm very happy to hear your news - Enjoy!

More errands etc on schedule for today, and then enjoy Downton tonight -

Take care all,
Michele

mykneesareback 01-13-2013 09:03 AM

I'm sorry Linda, when I looked at the list, there was nothing there, darn it! We seem to be awake and on here at the same time, even posting elsewhere.

It is 3 degrees, thank goodness the woodstove is working, it is way more comfortable than just the regular heater. The snow is so frozen, you can't get in or out of any of the gates from our back yard, that hasn't happened since the "boys" lived here.

Have as pleasant a day as possible.........I'm sure Loretta will be :)

:hiya:

Mssarge 01-13-2013 09:13 AM

Begete 01-13-2013 09:15 AM

Good morning....

So happy for you, Loretta.

Nothing much planned today. Last night's party was a lot beter than I expected.

Have a good one.

Shalbrihil 01-13-2013 09:32 AM

Good morning. It's toe trimming here today. Rat terriers hate to have there feet messed with. So heading for the Dremel and Dh is heading for a dog. Oh joy!

birdlady 01-13-2013 09:37 AM

Happy for you,Loretta.

Shalbrihil 01-13-2013 09:42 AM

Linda do you check off Java Script as well as Java? I'm thinking yes but for my Mac I just am not sure. Would you know?

Liblady 01-13-2013 10:00 AM

Geesh, with all that very cold weather you all are having I'm embarrassed to tell you our temps................let's just say another day of the same.

We went up to the Tavern for breakfast this morning, haven't done that since getting down here. It was so good. I had my scrambled eggs, bacon and fried potatoes with onion. DH had his egg, pancake, rye toast and sausage. No lunch today.

A friend is bringing shrimp over later this afternoon and we'll have a drink together.

We took a drive around in the golf cart earlier and it was so pleasant driving around. We saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes and of course the Osprey was in her nest. Also saw the Blue Heron in her nest (the very top of a pine tree) no alligators around today tho.'

Gladys, I can't believe the rain you guys are getting. Are those little kitties doing ok? Don't know why I asked, I know the answer already.

ocali 01-13-2013 10:23 AM

Loretta, such nice news from you! (I'm a little jealous). Enjoy having a nice companion.
Ginnie, I am watching and hearing a large (perhaps 100 )big black birds squawking in the large trees near-by. They fly from tree to tree. Are they looking for dead bodies??
I am going to watch my Netflix movie now. A foreign film (in Spanish) called "The Women on the Sixth Floor". This is my Sunday matinee.

Liblady 01-13-2013 10:28 AM

Sounds like something is dead, somewhere.
For pete's sake, stay inside............:hyst:

I'm looking forward to DA tonight. We have been getting free paid channels all weekend so have had fun with all the channels we don't get. Dh loves the Encore western channel. It will be over tonight but fun while it lasted.

Julie and Linda, we get a little family of crows in our neighborhood. They play havoc with peoples garbage cans. Fortunately they leave our little flocks and our bird feeders alone.

We get blue jays (Stellar's and Scrubs) that love the peanuts we leave for them. They are so bold that if you stay still they will fly to your hand and take them. That would be the Scrubs. The Stellar's are a bit more shy and only come when the Scrubs are gone.

Gladys, hoping you are on dry land still. Rain is a good thing until it gets out of hand.

TTFN :)

mykneesareback 01-13-2013 12:04 PM

All that darned rain in Louisiana, just where they don't need it, whomever runs the weather needs to reboot somewhere. Gladys, do you have power all the time, though?

Ginnie, you are lucky to be where you are, and so is Julie, but you know it already, lol. How long since you have seen any alligators? Or snakes?

Glad you had a friendly dinner, Begete.............were you guys extra cold last night, or has this Alberta thing passed you by?

Just made dh his Splenda cranberry sauce and deviled eggs, now on to dish washing and preparing for phone calls.

We have just one pair of Crows, lots of bluejays and little sparrow like birdies, and some kind of brown birds with fat bodies, but can't find in the book what they are............need to go out and toss stuff into the compost pile for them all.

ocali 01-13-2013 01:59 PM

The movie was good. I was wrong, it was mostly in French but some Spanish. Of course, with English sub-titles.
Next big event is Downton Abbey tonight.

LoveMontana 01-13-2013 02:59 PM

LOL Doris, not a problem.

Sharon, if it has anything to do with Java, disable it.This is one nasty hacker.

Macs don't come with Java loaded, but it can be added. If you see it on the Mac, disable it.

Lainey, this game of Double Russian solitare doesn't require Java. I just tried it and have Java disabled.

Just putting my toe in the door. I worked today and I am feeling quite tired. Hopefully I can stay awake to watch some tv then relax and off to bed.

That is really good news Loretta. How wonderful to meet a special man like that.
Yes God does continue to Bless us.

Waving at You All and hope to bbt...

Found Java in my little lap top and removed it. Tomorrow will check the desk top. What does Java do anyways? Why do we have it?
