Good morning All,

Love the car, Anne

Am glad to have you back, Susan

Hope C. starts to feel better today, Gladys

It's a foggy, drizzly morning - just the kind of day to go to work (Not!) But, since I really enjoy getting that paycheck, I'm going to get myself going.

Enjoy your day,
Michele

Good morning SuSun-Wellcome back & thanks for cute start up Doris.

Very Norman Rockwell- I once lived near him in Mass. and my dentist there had his son on one of the Sat. Eve. Post covers. Bet he would love the animation.
No plans here for tonight but will do lots of cooking tomorrow- I decided on frozen collards cooked in fat from really nice country ham slices; black eyed peas and a tiny roasted chicken. Polish off the rest of the egg nog and jot down my resolutions for Jan. 2, 2013 till....... JUDDING; DAILY 12,000 steps WALKING; and a CLEAN HOUSE for starters!!!! OH and the BIG one! NO SMOKEING!!!!
Yall doing any self improveing? I also plan to GO TO CHURCH!

Good morning. No sun yet and looking for a hi around 50. Hope it is a good day for everyone. I have to run by the doctors office and get a bp reading and then off to work. Atleast tomorrow is an off day. Our last until July.

Doris, I dont have any plans either. Except to make it home okay.

Gladys, hope yall feel better soon. I had the flu and something, and it is still hanging on, but seems to be getting weaker..

Michele, I like my job, and the security and the people there. It is just times, when I feel like it is time to go do something else.

Lainey, you seem to have had an interesting life. I enjoy reading your adventures.

Julie, are you an oriigonal Floridian? My ex fiance lives in Orlando. But I just broke it off. He is a great guy, but dont think we are meant to be together.

Gotta run. Hope next year is a much better year. Its all in Gods hands.

I do have plans if the weather cooperates.

Dinner with my best friends, some Michigan Rummy but will call it an early evening and leave by 9 or so. Hope to leave before the temps drop to freezing.

Loved the cozy picture Doris and thanks for the start up on this last day of the year.

For Jan 1 I have invited my local son and his family out for an early dinner.

Happy New Year, everyone, and safe venturing out if you are going somewhere........take your time. Those of you with fireworks to go to, lucky you!!

I'm fixing dh a lamb shank with sauce, bought at Costco, and the sauce will be put on brussel sprouts, lol. I'm having kippered snacks from the can. And doing deviled eggs, dh likes them but we don't have them except this time of year.

Ginny, what alot of fun for you and hubby to go out dancing, I think we are done with that, dh is not up to it anymore.

Take good care of yourselves, friends, enjoy your family and friends.

Happy New Years Eve! Its just Rich and I and we are staying home. I'm sending him to the grocery store this afternoon. I need to think of what to have for dinner. My family tradition was to have pork and sauerkraut. Rich likes the way I make it, so maybe? We have some Japanese Fuki plum wine, plus some homemade berry wine gifted from a friend. The homemade wine is actually quite good. Our friend has been aging it for 3 yrs.

Poor Cathy has to work and she still has the flu.

Even when I was young, I didn't go out on New Year's Eve. I don't like crowds, drinking crowds especially, cigarette smoke and loud music and noise. I'm a dull person.

Michele and Evon, I can't imagine working at my age and health. KUDOS to you both.

Gladys, I hope Clarence's depression is just a temporary thing and he's soon out and about. I love the smell of a wood burning fireplace. I'm not sure my lungs could take it anymore.

Happy New Year's Eve to all...nothing planned here, either. I just hope it's fireworks and not guns going off here. We get a lot of that to welcome the new year; although, since the police have that new finder that can find the location of weapons going off it seems to be stopping that. A lot of the new arrivals to our fair state don't realize that, tho', and are picked up every year....is that a pc way of saying it?

Tomorrow will be a down day on my woe, but I'll figure out how to get my black-eyed peas, cornbread and greens in some way. (yeah, I have deep southern roots...may even work in some pork & kraut) This month my weight's been up and down, mostly up and I finish the month up one pound, so I guess that's not too bad... I've lost a total of 37 pounds since June, so that's very good...now if I can do the same in the next six months I'll be at my goal weight. The tape measure is kind to me and even shows a drop in a couple of places. So, all told 2012 was okay for me in the weight division, not so much in other places, but I guess it all evens out...some good, some bad, some worse.

I know I won't be welcoming in the new year with any booze as I'm still fighting off the blues and if I do that, then it would be very maudlin...a lot of losses this year to cry over. But, with the new year comes new hope...

and I hope you all have a good day and good things come your way. BBL

Good Afternoon All,

Love that couple sitting by the warm stove Doris. It is just how I picture You and your DH. Thank you for the start up.

Well, it is the last day of 2012. I am hoping 2013 proves to be a lighter year with lots of interesting things in store for all of us.

Lainey, Yes WE all seem to have those self-improvement lists. The one I have kept to is the 'ditch 9.' This has really worked well to keep down on the clutter and cleaning. There are many more items to ditch. I think a 100 a day would be more realistic for me. LOL! Oh well, will see what the New Year brings. Your dinner sounds tasty and interesting. Good for you, start as you mean to go on.

Verleen, I hope Cathy soon recovers from that Flu, it sure is a nasty bug this year. Some TLC when she gets home would be in order.

Gladys, I too am with C regarding smoke in the house. I guess it does trigger the lungs Verleen so I wouldn't want to take that chance. I do like to be cosy and warm though so I have a gas fire with gas forced air heating.

Mary, I know only too well those feelings. We do have to keep making small steps and moving forward. The smallest progress I make, I celebrate it. It is a learning curve to make our lives as single women again. Keep on keeping on and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Loretta, I don't blame you to get back home around 9ish. Enjoy your cards and company. Sounds like a nice dinner for you and your local son's family tomorrow.

Michele, Thank you for the warm welcome back. What are you doing tonight? Do they do anything special in Texas? I hear ya on the pay check an going out to work. We can keep going until we get bored, so far I am happy to keep a few days here and there going.

Anne, Did you manage to see "Call the Midwife" last night. Downton Abbey starts next Sunday. We will be happy campers for a few weeks now.

It will be a quiet night at home with DS, the TV and the two dogs tonight. I was invited to fireworks and a skating show but would rather not be standing outside in the cold. Lots of fun characters for the kids and families. Two of the ladies from the group are going. I don't blame them better to be out with people than sit at home alone.

Waving to All and hope to check back later...

Is that MIDWIFE have that big Nun on a bicycle?

I caught a little bit of a show like that and it did look very good. Will check to see if it is listed in the TV section for last night about 8: I think.
Did some shopping and bought some Andre extra dry champayne and some chicken livers to make a pate- really just mushed cooked chic. livers and crackers. Tomorrow I will mix up some "Jiffy" cornbread mix and fry it like the Native Americans do but I will use coconut oil. THEN Jan. 2, a JUDD down day.
WOW! it is very cold here- never got out of the 30s today. Sure not used to that.
I too wish every one the finest new year ever for all.

Happy New Year's Eve everyone.

We are home bodies too. Nothing planned.

I'm coming down with the flu today. I just got over the other crud right before Thanksgiving.

Picked up a 23 lb fresh turkey yesterday. Regular $1.99 per lb, was marked down to $.69. I couldn't resist it. Needless to say we will be eating turkey for a few days but most of it and the broth will go in the freezer for soup on another day.

Happy New Year for our friends in the UK...I missed wishing my friends in the Orient a prosperous new year, but they know I'm thinking of them. Last minute to-do's for the floats for tomorrow's Rose Parade. The judging has been finished and now they're driving them to the staging area...that's what I want to see..all those beautiful creations forming up. The entire L.A. basin is under a frost warning for tonight so I feel for all the spectators moving into Pasadena.

Lainey, I like your idea of restarting with the first of the year and am seriously planning on two up days, today and tomorrow...both in moderation, tho'....thanks!

I found some farmer's style pork ribs lurking in my freezer from earlier this year so figure that's my pork for the new year...barbecued rather than with kraut. I'm all set for my New Year's Day eats.

Got out in the sun today and feeling pretty good. Went to Wally world and was flabbergasted in that they had none, absolutely no black-eyed peas...either frozen (which I love) or canned. Was planning on cooking up a batch of dried (which I always have...remember southern roots) but stopped at the super tar-get which I had to drive by anyway..still no frozen, but they had canned ones. So, I'm good to go...also picked up some yakimandu (oriental dumplings, or maybe you know them as potstickers) which I just had as my appetizer before supper tonight....yummmy! Only thing I couldn't find was lotus roots..oh well! Some things are best forgotten.

Ready to put on the jammies and curl up with the tail waggers for a cozy night. Hope you all had a great day...type ya later.

Mary, I'm with you. A shower and my pjs and my pup...what could be better on any night?

We are going to buck tradition tomorrow and have marinated salmon and stuffed pasta shells. We will have a spinach salad and some blackeyes just for southern sake but no pork this year.

When I did a search for Call the Midwife it only came up on January 1 so I have it set to record then. I did see that it was, indeed, on last night here but I was too late to start it. As long as I get to see it. This is the year I will watch Downton Abby. I have all the discs but just haven't watched it. DD nags me all the time about it. There are not enough tv watching hours in the day for me! I seem to gravitate to my book after an hour or so.

Wishing all of you a safe and happy and prosperous new year. Ya'll ROCK and I appreciate your friendships so very much.

Anne, I am envious- would love those DVDs

I enjoyed the re-run last night... I think it is an all time favorite show for me. Oh yes, make the time for those DVDs.
SuSun, I am going out now to toss coins and bills on the front stoop so I'll get money all year. I will collect it and bring it in first thing in the morning. Do I remember right from last year?
Nighty night all- a little TV- my fav. sit coms are tonight and Thursday. Tonight is just an hour for both between 9: and 10: Two Broke Girls and Mike and Molly. Thursday is The Big Bang Theory and Two and 1/2 Men. That is all I watch the whole week unless there is a good documentory. Thank heavens for PBS.

Gonna sip some eggnog. My Christmas weakness- I even use the whole nutmeg and dust it real fine.

HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TONIGHT AND FOR THE REST OF 2013

I'm with you, Lainey, if we had a casino 6 miles away, I'd hardly ever cook again!

Hoping Doug is not too sick, but that flu is a bummer, any night, not just New Year's Eve.

We used to put money in the corners of each window in the house, my Mother insisted, never did any good, but we did it, and I used to do it here. Used to heat up lead,!! and see what kind of shapes took form, to fortune tell how the person's year would be, that was something they did in Germany, but you can't buy lead anymore for those kinds of purposes, lol, thank goodness. The Asian people won't allow fried chicken until Jan.2, that is something talked about on the morning tv show. Lots of unusual superstitions still abound.

Made dh's s/f key lime cheesecake, deviled eggs, so he is good to go this evening. I'm supposed to go put on some new stuff he bought me, and see how it goes, lol. See you ALL tomorrow!! Easy does it.

Hi to everyone, since we got old, we don't bother with the New Year celebration anymore either.
Not like the good ol days when we watched the ball drop and saw the sunrise.

So sorry to those of you under the weather. It's not fun.

Happy new year to all.
