Good morning Doris and Julie and those to come.
Thanks Doris for opening the Saturday Door!
Woke with a dull headache and think it is sinus. Also a bit hungry. Might have over done my Up Day yesterday but sure enjoyed my "Whopper"- reg. one no cheese and it was made just right- no fries and I brought my own thermos of Crystal Light Lemonade. There was a time it would have been a "double Whopper with cheese, large fries and large diet cola and ice cream... oh, I also got a small cup of soft serve. Sure enjoyed my little meal and was completely satisfied. I like this JUDDD as I feel so "normal human" for the first time ever. Glad to be having my banana shakes for my DD today and light supper tonight. Storms starting in about 2 hours for here so I still have time to do a little outside before then. As you can imagine it is super humid and miserable so the storms will be welcome to clear some of that away with cooler temps. Gotta getta move on. bbl

Good Morning Everyone!
Julie, I meant to tell you yesterday, the childrens' picture is wonderful. Do they call or write from time-to-time? After reading the posts, it looks as if everyone's keeping busy and doing well. I'm glad to read that Linda is having a fun time on vacation; Sharon is now home and had a good vacation; I think Coleen is still on vacation, Doug's pictures have been informative and fun to look at; Begete, Lainey, and Verleen are hanging in there and dealing with their issues as best they can; Anne is getting a taste of freedom again, but is not slowing down; Susan is rockin and rollin, and managing it all with grace; and Doris is still putting us all to shame with all her exercise and determination. Today's plan for me includes a trip to the library, grocery, and gym. Later on, I'll be meeting some friends and go to see roller derby - what a hoot that should be, since I don't know a darn thing about it - I expect we will have a lot of laughs. Enjoy the day as best as you can, Michele |

Good Saturday Morning to One and All,
Thank you Doris for our start and little guy under the spaghetti. Julie, what pretty names they all have. Handsome looking children too. Sorry to hear about that sleep problem. Do you have anything you can take? Hopefully you will catch up with a nap today. Michele, That roller derby should be exciting. I too have never seen anything like that. Do report on that. Thank you for your kind words in your post. Lainey, Glad to hear you enjoyed your feast yesterday. Yes, it does sound more normal. Hope you can chase away that muzzy head. The sun is out today with a mostly blue sky, temps are lower 68-70F and very pleasant. The trees are changing colour up here. I guess less sunlight hours as you were saying Doris. Nothing on my agenda today, just the odd house chore and a putter in the garden. DS promised to cut the lawns will see what he gets up to. He has had a hectic week with his work. Wishing All a pleasant Saturday and hope to bb later...

Good morning -
Last night we had a trial run of the dinner we are cooking, lakeside, next weekend for a benefit for the local Animal Shelter on which DH is a board member. Never made rice pilaf in a crockpot before, but it came out just fine. Got VERY drunk on the margaritas from COSTCO. They sell already mixed house brand margaritas that are unbelievably good in half gallon(?) bottles. Today will be farmers' market, and tomorrow is the last day of the county fair, but considerably cooler. LINDA - where are you camping? I like to know which campgrounds have poor WiFi so we can avoid them Julie - your grandkids are beuatiful. Where do they live? Michele - never seen a live roller derby before. Sounds like fun. Lainey - I have been having headaches for the past month, and also think it is sinus. May have to break down and see Dr. Doris - never anything on TV this time of year My best to all who drop by later. Editing to say "hi" to Susan who was posting at the same time.

Good morning all...hot and humid with a chance of thunder boomers and flash floods again today. Had a couple of flooding yesterday, not here, thank goodness, as I sit up on a hill so am safe when Mother Nature throws us a curve. There was a pretty bad one up at Forrest Falls which a about forty miles away and Victorville (eight inches on the ground) had a bad one. They showed some footage of my town with a dowpour but that was also a few miles away from my house. I do miss the summer rains that you all have back east, the nice gently "mother rain" as the native American's call it.
Not a thing on tap for me today...just recovery from PT yesterday...the legs and back went beserk last night and I had to bring out the goop to try to control it. My therapist showed me some exercises to do with the new bands and also some for my exercise ball, so will be starting those today. Maybe some mall walking, if the knees allow, and a movie this afternoon. A DD so I'll try to stay busy... Hope you all have a great day...

Thanks for the nice 'reviews' of my ggkds, everyone.. Begete, the two boys live in San Diego and the two girls live in Butternut, Wisconsin. This picture was taken when the San Diegans were up in Butternut on vacation. The boys' father and the girls' mom are siblings, kids of my oldest son. The kids see each other twice a year when they alternate visiting each other.

Julie, that explains the question I had. I was wondering how the kids were grouped, in which family. Do you ever get a chance to visit them when they are together?
Love seeing "family" pictures. Loved the spagetti muncher Doris. Thanks for the lead off here on this wonderful to be alive Saturday. We are enjoying cooler temps with sunshine today. Have a great week end folks. |

Good late morning gang,
It is doing a very good job of trying to rain here, sky is very dark.We have to have lights on. Next chance I get I have to ride the Deere again.Grass do grow with rain. I hate tv on the week-ends,not so much during the week either.lol I will probably buy a Kindle book to down load to my love Mr.I-Pad. Begete, drunk,I got a good laugh on that one,it would only take a few sips for me to be drunk. Michele, never saw that live, just on tv. Mary you are doing so well,is there a special reason that you are having trouble with your back/legs. Susan, you are very close to your posted goal. Lainey, hope you are feeling better. It's now raining, very much a Mother rain. BBL

Begete, my Internist gave me Rx for migraine meds but even though I filled it I never took even one of them. How do you know at the beginning of a head ache if it is sinus or a migraine??? Could not figure that one out and with the side effects of those pills I just opted out of taking them at all. The good old "nettie pot" with the packets Rx's that my Ila gave me do the trick almost always and if the headache is a migraine it is too late to take the "onset" migraine pills. Waking up with a dull headache can very well be a diabetes low sugar problem so I wait till after having my coffee that has sugar in the lightner and that with the caffiene withdrawal in the picture usually does the trick.
Did anyone else hear that Phelps ate 12,000 calories a day when training? Is that even possible to do? OMG- I would look like I was 9 YEARS preggers after that many calories by bed time. Big storms are not getting here today as promised so it is just another muggy day in london town! bbl Last edited by Norfolk Mermaid; 08-18-2012 at 10:51 AM.. Reason: "drunk" begete would be a sight to see! I cannot even imagine that. |

I believe we just enjoyed our last BLT for lunch. Tomatoes are just not producing, darn.
I had made a fire in our fire thingy, so we sat outside and ate the BLT's, reminded me of camping in the Adirondacks when I was growing up. I made a fire last night too and we had out cocktails out there...............so nice. Begete, I've heard those cocktails are really good. Hmmm, may have to try sometime. Julie, GG's are good looking kids. Mary, when I lived in VA we called that kind of rain a "sheep's rain." (gentle and soft) We don't get those much here in Iowa. Ginny |

Ginny, "Sheep's rain" I like that. What did they call the hard downpours? NA's call it a Father rain, as opposed to the Mother rain.
Gladys, not really sure what's causing the spasms...they started when I began the water exercises and are worse after every workout. I skipped a day last week, thinking it might give it time to stop, but last night was even worse. I guess I'll have to stretch 'em out daily in order to overcome it. The therapist doesn't seem too concerned about it but then it's not hurting him...also, if you have the I-Pad, is it the Kindle app you are talking about getting? It's free at Amazon and I have one on all my devices...the phone, tablet and both computers...in addition to having the Kindle, which I love, BTW. It was my retirement gift to myself and I've used it for over two years and have almost two thousand books in my library....I know you'll enjoy it. Last edited by Mssarge; 08-18-2012 at 01:02 PM.. |

Hey all.
Been working with a group getting our high school reunion together at the first of October. I see a few groups from school during the year but this will be a fun one. Probably more of the local ones since it is not a long weekend planned. Takes just as long to get an afternoon together as it does a whole weekend. It has been fun but time consuming. And walked every day this week...that has not been so fun...really I am a lazy so and so. Great picture, Lainey. Love seeing you so healthy and happy. The GG are darling I know you wish you could twitch your nose, Julie and be with them all. Really, Michele? Roller Derby? I would scream like an idiot if I were there. I know I would because I do at Hockey and I have no idea what I'm hollering about. My late husband would spend more time laughing at me than watching the ice! Just stopping by. Ya'll I have had a silly headache for the past week, too. I, too, think it is allergy/sinus. DD says I do this around our birthdays but I don't remember...she says denial ain't just a river in Egypt. Think of ya'll often during the day...will try to get back more often next week. Anne |
