Welcome to the newbie, Nolagirl...

Today is the first day of school here. DGS starts his senior year and Maggie starts her PreK. DD is very nervous this morning. I start a new walking routine. Maybe I'll have something to add to the exercise board now!! Been waiting 4 years for THAT!

I so enjoyed my weekend of doing nothing. The first five days after a weekend are always the hardest they say!! Already looking forward to next weekend.

Many thoughts and prayers to the family of Miya's friend. What a shock.

Am looking Midwife up on my PBS link now...thanks for the tip, Susan.

Got a few things to do before I get my day started.

Anne

Ann, make sure you give us a full report of Maggie's first day at school, ya hear?
Nothing much planned for today.
Tomorrow is the annual chicken bbq at our large clubhouse put on by the management company. It was great last year, hope it is this year, too.
I watched the closing ceremonies from London last night. It was quite a performance but I didn't recognize one song. Poor me!

Good morning and thanks Doris.

Right Julie, will be waiting for the "Maggie" report!
Took less alergy pills for rash than yesterday but it is not working on the itching so I will spead some numbing ointment that at least gives me some peace for a little while.
Need to move the Jeep to the street and do some more weeding on that &^% driveway. Really, honestly hope to finish her off today between sweating in the heat and the itching I will be lucky to get it done though.
I burned the kitties poached chicken this morning so I have to toss 4 pieces of chicken breast... hate wasting food like that and know better than to not watch it on a monday plus morning- double whammy for this old brain when it was young so you can imagine what it is now!.
bbl
it is an UD today

to Nola girl. Welcome aboard. Feel free to chime whenever you have the time. We also have a daily menu thread (get some food ideas) and and exercise thread. Those 2 just help to keep us accountable.

Gladys, so sorry to hear about Myia's friend passing. SO young!! Hard to express ones feelings of sympathy for young people dying. It is amazing how those caregivers can find the strength.

Anne you have been busy exercising for the past 4 years with Maggie. Hope she adjusts well to her new role as student and you finally adjust to being retired with time for yourself.

Hi Kat nice to see you have returned.

Julie, enjoy that bbq.

Lainey those weeds are going to see you coming and shrivel right up.
Almost burned my hb eggs too last night. Forgot about them and had gone to talk with a neighbor.
Rain today and I have forgotten how to act.

I'm also interested to hear how Maggie does, Anne. And I feel your feelings about your grandson being a Senior, too, I remember that, mixed emotions.

Waving at all of us on here early today, lol.

Welcome to the newbies, some of us have been here for years, there is no cure for food addiction, but perhaps you can train yourself to manage it better.
Otherwise, enjoy the friendship.

Our muggy, over 100 degree weather doesn't help the fires, there is another area past the town that is waiting in case they need to leave by tonight. This fire just won't stop, probably will have to shut down the power again so they can use the bombers with that red stuff.

Try to have a good day, and hugs to those that need it, and those that don't !

Enjoy the bbq, Julie!

Loretta, please post another photo of your Caladiums, they are beautiful!

Good Morning All

It is a tad cloudy up here today, not sure if we will get more rain. I think the farmers will be pleased this week, not sure if it will save their crops though. Perfect growing weather rain, sunshine all in the same day.
Nuttin on my agenda today, that's the way I like it. No demands on me. I need a day to get over yesterday a work day. LOL!

A BIG Thank YOU to Doris for a daily kick off and that Psychic Fair sign is too funny.

Yes, Anne do give us a detailed rundown on Maggie adventures at school.

Julie, there were more than one song that I didn't recognise. Wow enjoy that BBQ that sounds quite a social clubhouse you have there.

Continued prayers and hugs for All in need of them.

Hope to bbl...

Good morning all...still hot and humid here as well. Thunder shirt worked yesterday for the scaredy dog as we had a couple of power losses from the thunder boomers. The power went out about the time they sighted the tornado about six miles from the house. Only one building was damaged yesterday so it was just a touch and go although it took out several power lines and folks are still without electricity, and the heat's going up hope they get it straightened out soon. More thunder boomers today, sure hope they don't create more twisters. and the monsoonal flow is only supposed to go on for another day or so but, of course, they were saying our temps would start to go down before now.

I'm thinking of cancelling PT today to see if the leg will stop spasming by Friday. Other than that, nuttin' planned for me, too.

Welcome newbies and returnees, come on in the pool's fine...the more the merrier.

Anne, sure hope they get a handle on the fire soon...it's been burning for a long time.

Lainey, sorry to hear about the poison ivy but it is an UD so you have that to look forward to...hope you're feeling better.

I didn't even stick around for the music...and I like rock 'n roll as the first song or so turned me off. I did watch the reprise NBC did and really enjoyed that.

Hope yoy all have a great day.

I've been playing in the dirt, weeding while the ground was easier to work with after a few days of rain.
There is still tons more to work on. It felt good to get back at taking care of the place.
My back yard is like Miss Haversham's, that's what it felt like. DS has been mowing the grass but no weeding and such. I tidied up a small patch which I feel good about. So I may get back to it again this week. I bagged it all up too for the recycle collection.
I had DEET on my headband and clothing and some Avon oil on my face as the bugs were trying to get to my eyes, tiny flies. That fixed them.
I seeded another area and I have put clear plastic over the top with stones to hold in place so the birds don't eat all the seeds. It is supposed to rain off and on all week, so good week for that. I have worked up an appetite for my dinner. Just off to get that started. Hope to bb later or tomorrow...

Well, I did cancel the PT which will give me a chance to check on the insurance, too, as well as give the legs spasms time to stop. So went to the casino and played some poker. Wish I had stopped there as I won on the table but stop at the slot which ate up the winnings plus some...oh well, I know better.

Scaredy dog was on her on today so hope it wasn't too bad on her as I drove through a rain shower to get there...temp dropped 20 degrees in just four miles. The main road into Hemet is still closed and expected to be all week as they repair the power lines and poles that were hit by the tornado yesterday....I guess there was more damage than I originally reported.

Tonight's the series ender on the Closer. As we've been saying, gonna miss Kyra and I hope the new show is okay as I do love the summer season's shows on TNT and USA...at least they put something fresh on the air. Although now I'm catching up last season's Dexter...somehow I like the thought of a serial killer who kills serial killers and the show is really good and received several nominations for awards.

Hope the day was good for you and great things came your way.
