Good morning Doris and those to come in.

Thanks for the start out.
Dr. gave me "Vesicare" samples but I am stopping taking them as it feels like electric shocks every time I go... am dryer but those "shocks" hurt a lot so it is not worth that. Sure wish I had skipped this mornings dose.
More weeding the drive way this morning hopfully finishing and moving on to the bigger weeds- not just cracks ones.
Wrote checks for the landscaper and the lady that washes my hair for the month of August. Will grocery shop at Sam's tomorrow and pay up that credit card. Will pay more bills tomorrow as that is when my Soc. Sec. is auto deposited in my bank. Then broke till Sept.
bbl have a good day everyone. Prayers for Verleen, Pandora, Molly, Myia, Laurie and any others in need of them.

Gladys, I've thought of suggesting that Lainey, but didn't know if she would be interested in that. I have sprays for just weeds and it doesn't affect the grass and another one that kills weeds and grass which is good for the crack between the driveway and the street. One spritz and they are on their way to weed heaven.

Taking a break...

Gladys, Round Up and I been hanging out for the past 2 or 3 summers now. It is harder to do all that squirting than to bend over and gently tug out the entire weed- especially after a rain. I have lots of PREEN that prevents anything from sprouting but I do not have a spreader. I will of course do all the cracks by hand with the Preen- it also has a little nozzel to pour into cracks which will help as well. I just now have taken about half of a 10+ ft. shrub down as it may be blocking drive way backing out for some of my neighbors. There is some shade there as well so I am having to pick and choose where to work with shade in mind. Not too many trees around here as the hurricaines love to take them down.
What is the pony's name. Prayers for her coming from here... do you think it is the heat?
I want to start a wash now that the dishwasher has done it's job.
bbl
Oh, I want to recommend that cold water tea or (no boil one). I am making it all most daily and it is so good. I add Stevia into my glass after I pour and it taste like my Mama's and Grandma's good old sweet tea from my ancient past. It is Lipton and I use 3 "family size bags" as I like my tea strong enough to take on the ice.

Thanks for the start off, Doris.

Put in a restless night with this sinus infection, but I think the antibiotics are starting to work.

This afternoon, it's the annual mammogram and then a nap before we head to hear our county executive speak.

Hi Everyone,

Yes, Ginny, I've got the week off and I'm enjoying making believe I'm 'retired'

The plan for today is a trip to Academy to pick up a couple of 8 lb hand weights, return some audio books at the library, pick up some more dog food, do some yoga exercises on the Wii, and spend some time at the pool.

Enjoy the day as best you can.

Sending hugs to those that need one and everyone else as well,
Michele

Good morning all, just popping in before I decide what to do today...don't feel like doing much of anything as the temps go up and my energy level goes down. Handyman is still painting the house, so dogs are inside all day. At least they'll be cool. Hope you all have a great day and I'll type ya later,

Good for you, Michele. "Retirement" is great, isnt' it? You'll find out for real one of these days.

Hot, humid, cloudy here. No rain, just clouds. We're going in to town today to pick up a script, get a battery for our golf cart and a few other "things."

Fed birds, watered birds and flowers and am trying to come up with something for lunch for us. We ate all 6 ears of sweet corn last night, it was delicious. I'm thinking that will be the end of anymore corn, the drought here has done the corn in.

Julie, been meaning to ask how your ear is? Better I hope. The thought hit me this morning that with it being August, we have 2 months left here in Iowa before heading to FL. I'm happy with that thought.

No one should ever use Roundup. It is a horrible chemical.

You can kill weeds with a mix of plain white vinegar, salt and a bit of dishwashing liquid. Much cheaper and safer.

I have been down for the count with nausea and headache but feel a bit better today. I think it was a combo of allergies and too much naproxen.

Upped my allergy meds and slept with windows closed and air conditioner on even though it's only in the 50's here at night.

Tonight, tomorrow and Saturday we are out for dinner, so NO cooking for a while - yeah!! I am going to make a savory bread pudding with leftover bread crusts - for breakfasts....

Have a good one.

LOL MIchele on pretending you are retired. Love that thought. I love being retired too. Enjoy. The days go much to fast for me.

Lainey I think our weeds here have died from heat exhaustion. You are sure persistent. I would have to just ignore them or wack them down with weed eater.

Gladys my oldest son calls me very early some mornings even when I am out walking. He has a problem sleeping (swing shift) and I am usually up before dawn.

Verleen, sure have you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you find a comfortable spot. I admire you GO SPIRIT. Seems like your illness does not hold you down.

Linda hope your tests all have good results. I have finished with my yearlys and can now have a pap test once every 3 years since my last 3 were negative. I did have a questionable one a few years back.

Thanks for the start Doris.

Ginny I have been keeping my out for some good corn. Haven't found any worth buying yet.

Feeling sorry for my DSister, her pc has become too infected with viruses to be saved. It is an old pc with xp and I think the updates for its safety have expired. Even if she tries to run her recovery disks they will not take. She will shop for a new one. I might be next in line. I have xp also, version 2002 w service pack 3. Soon microsoft will no longer provide updates.

Staying in to listen to audio book and crochet. (retirement)

It is so very hot but I got that huge shrub down to 4 ft.

I do not know what it is but the wood is not too hard as my not very sharp cuters takes it down but I am even going to take the saw to the big "trunks" when it is cooler late today or very early tomorrow. I was up at 5: am this morning and it was still dark.
I looked for frozen yogert in the market today but came home empty handed and ate a sliced frozen banana. I am just sick and tired of chemicals and sugar and fat in every da*n thing we buy in the store. Of course bananas and every thing else grown is loaded with chems. that are mulched in the ground around where they grow and they are sprayed as well but at least the bananas have peelings so I hope that helps. A frozen banana is so tasty but you have to eat it fast as a thawed on is not so much.
I am having a hungry DD today but I am guessing it is from the hard labor I am doing in the yard.
I got "The Artist" from BlockBuster today and have watched a little of it and like it a lot. That actor is eating up the screen in this movie.
I sure seems hardly worth it to work out side for 15 minutes and come in a rest for an hour but you know what? It is getting done little by little.

Michelle, enjoy your pretend "retirement" As Ginny says, you will be able to retire one of these days.

Babette, bummer on the allergies. Been a bad year for them all over the US.
LOL I use my window air conditioner year round because it filters out dust and such.

I can attest to white vinegar and dish soap as a great weed killer.

Mary, when it's so hot, it does sap our energy. It must be something to do with age.

Lainey, so sorry that med caused such side effects.

Oh Gladys, I sure hope the pony is ok.

Warning...long post

Back at the house as I made another run to the casino for a little poker...glad I did as I won a little...always good to book that "W." Boy! This handyman is doing such work that I've never seen before. He's taking his time but he is thorough. He's even digging a trench below ground level all around the house. So far he's only put primer on most of the wood trim which really needed it as the house hasn't been painted since I moved in 17 years ago and things really dry out here on the desert.

Just heard on the news that tropical storm Ernesto is building up in the Atlantic and may be in the Gulf this weekend...they're hoping it'll bring some much needed rain to the Midwest...Hope it's not a big blow but we sure could use the rain.

Lainey - Enjoying the energy from JUDDD, I see. I've found that staying busy is imperative on the DD's as it's so easy to eat "just a bite." The 15 minute work, hour rest really works for folks our age...why tire yourself out? Great minds work the same way....I got The Artist from Netflix today..I've still got "Iron Lady" so I'll watch it first....I heard so many good things about both I can hardly wait to watch them. I'm looking forward to Marigold Hotel being released soon, too.

I just posted a rant on purpura thread...I don't know how people are making it in today's economy...food prices rising daily, it seems; the big oil industry playing around with the prices at the gas pump, and medication costs going through the roof. How are these young folks making it? They don't have the experience to deal with stuff like this and so many are out of work...I recently read a short treatise on how to deal with the coming food shortages and it's flat scary.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to get it off my chest...g*ddess knows, where the world is going to...I hope you all had a great day and good things are coming your way. Hugs to all

Evening friends. I thought I'd stop by and give some good news for a change. I have been constipated for weeks now and began vomiting more frequently. 3 times yesterday. I wasn't able to keep even water and my meds down. So today I had bloodwork and a CAT scan and no blockage! Very good news. So very happy about this. The contrast drink is known to make people have a BM and it worked for me.

Ladies and Doug, have a great evening and I'll see you all tomorrow.
