Good morning. Thanks to all of you for your welcome (back).
So, I decided I'd put on 6 pounds and get back to 122, which is about perfect for me. But, I took that as a license to just power eat and I certainly did! So, by the time I hit 128 (I know this seems whiney when 128 would be a great weight for about anybody!!) I started to feel like food had taken control of me again. I was feeling really bad about myself and that's when I found this site in my list of bookmarks and posted. I'm glad I did! I exercised yesterday and ate more sensibly, though not low carb. Today I feel more confident that I'll have control of the food instead of the other way around. Have a great day, ladies!! |

Lainey, I picked up that photo on Facebook yesterday, so not sure which day it really us, doesn't matter to my husband, any day is "hot dog" day
![]() higher desert, I know the feeling, way back when, I wasn't allowed into weight watchers because I wasn't overweight, but they wouldn't let me in in order to try to maintain. Find a group of people to walk or otherwise exercise with every day, maybe your senior center has people who do that already and will let you join for free? Increase your daily exercise to keep your groove going. And we don't all do so called low carb or low starch. Take pictures of yourself and post them, sometimes that helps. I'm waving at the rest, I can't even get on the bike yet, have to rush into the bigger town for errands this morning. Take care of yourselves, folks.

Good morning all..temps dropping a bit to the mid 90's which is okay with me. Coffee in hand and getting ready for the poker table.
Highdesert, you're doing it right by keeping an eye on the scale and when it goes over five pounds or so, take it off. Sure wish I had done that back when... Hope you allhave a great day and stay cool. |

Howdy All,
It clouded over a bit this morning and I guess the farmers were hopeful but nada rain. Hot and sunny again up here. I guess the Olympics will be starting with the opening ceremonies today? Hope everyone that is there is safe including all the athletes. I am off the hospital to participate in another study. Trying to find links between Diabetes and Breast Cancer. I am not Diabetic and never had any blood suger elevations. It will probably be a long study. The last one I was in was 5years. It was for a new med. I found out afterwards I was in the control group so no med given. I hope to get to Costco today as I didn't feel up to it yesterday. Wishing All a good day and hope to check back later...

to all our new people on this never ending journey of weight loss/maintainence.We hit 105 yesterday, today 104. Unbelievable, plus we have a stiff breeze today drying stuff out even more, I guess this is what people call dry heat, our humidity levels are around 20%. Our neighbor has an outside waterpump and let us go over to get some water. (he's moved to another house in town) so DH went and got 2 big buckets full to put on our tomatoes. I'm getting lots of tomatoes but they are small, but then we've never been into those huge tomatoes that some people have in their gardens. ![]() We had a few potatoes from our garden last night and I have some left over so will be frying them tonight with our peppers/onions, can hardly wait. Talk about "power eating" I could eat a whole frying pan of that stuff. I "harvested" alot of dill seed today, love the smell of dill. We're going in to another town today to visit one of the FL/IA couples. She got an infection in her leg and has to keep it above her heart, plus is taking meds for it. Anyway, she's getting better and is also getting some tomatoes and blackberries. DH's son's kidney is functioning at 8% so they will be starting dialysis. The dr. will operate today to put in a port. No word on when they will be coming home. We are supposed to go in to Ames tomorrow to take care of their cats. That's it from Iowa today. Ginny |

Coming in the back door as I have a couple of notes to make before I run out to the casino...
Ginny, sorry to hear that it's only eight percent, but hoping dialysis will take the pressure off the kidney and it will be able to heal up. I know 14% seems to be the magic number. Best wishes and hope to all...there is always hope. Special thanks to Verleen, and I know you're lurking here as always...just wanted to let you know that the internet seems to be forever. I wanted to learn more about the Rosedale diet and couldn't find much information except for the book but didn't want to buy another diet book. I did some searching on the internet and the information you posted back in 2004 is still available and very good...thanx for the info. Also, to those who haven't tried some of the Rosedale recipes here on this forum, take a second look. The recipe Donna Pealady posted for turkey sausage is absolutely delish....and I don't like turkey sausage, at all. I decided to try the lower fat sausage and put it together last night and cooked it up this morning and it is the best ever. Gonna try the Ratatouille tonight....bought the eggplant yesterday and the market had them on sale. The poker table is calling, so I'm outta here...type ya later.

Thanks for the start today Doris.
That won't be a pretty picture if I throw my BUNS in the air. I might have trouble getting back down. Susan, that should be an interesting study. How many will be in the group? I like participating in studies when I can. I still hear my my Nurses study that is being conducted by Brigham Young Womens study. I have a form to complete yearly. I think I began that study in 2000. I never did get the results of my accolometer study. Ginny sorry to hear that news about your DSS's kidney function. Hope he can manage the dialysis txs. I have a hamburger day on Saturday's. My mom always had hot dogs on Saturday. She made German Potato Salad to go with the dogs. Very warm here again with heat advisories for this afternoon. I am going for a swim.

Just came home from shopping, yanked everything out of the car, and got on the bike, now, have to have lunch and pack it all away. Bought turkey sausage, no way am I making sausage at this stage of the game. Kudoos to those who have time, though.
And the beat goes, on, friends, same old beat. ![]() Howdy Begete, how is Pandora and how is Laurie doing? Ginny, what great produce you guys have access to, gee whiz. Wish the storm gods would do something right for a change. I'm so sorry to hear about your step son, but at least they can do something now. Susan, hope you make your Costco trip today! Take care, anyone going with you? I gotta get stuff done, zucchini, cauliflower and Roma tomatoes need putting away, and finally found the Orowheat 45 calorie bread again, been using the Sara Lee brand 45 cal bread, but Orowheat is cheaper. Hugs to everyone! Loretta, is your "Mother's In Law Tongue" still blooming, or is it done now? I sent your picture to several former nursery workers and they are impressed! |

Loretta, they wanted 100 participants in the study and they already have well over that. It is mostly blood work glucose levels and such. Today the intake was BP, Waist measurement, height, weight and such. I will get the fasting bloodwork done on Friday at least that is the plan so far. That Nurses study you were in at Brigham Young is one of those famous ones huh?
Doris, I went straight to Costco after the hospital so no coming home. I usually go on my own now as DS has been busy working. I load up my car and unload and up and down the basement stairs to the freezer several times. I should have added this to my exercise for today. LOL! Ginny, prayers for a smooth surgery and the best outcome. Hope they can find another match soon. Congrats on that bounty of a harvest. I am drooling and really admire you folks that can garden like that. Wishing All pleasant dreams and hope to bbt... |

Played poker with some big guns today and held my own for a long time until I started catching hands that wouldn't hold up. Oh well, feel really good about playing with them tho' and for the first time in a long time I was the only lady at the table, too. We had some visitors from the Sacramento Delta area who were really good players, an older guy and his two sons...I can't really say I played badly but, oh well, tomorrow is another day. But I won back what I lost at the slots....lady luck was good to me.
Hope you all had a great day and stayed cool. |
