EXERCISE Week, July 2 - July 8

"You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out, you put your right foot in, and you turn it all about", anyone remember doing the "Hokey Pokey" years ago? I used to love that at our Uncle's parties

Let's Roll, friends! Try for 5 min. more a day of even just walking or marching in place, or to music, lift those knees, or whatever you have

A big Hokey Pokey fan here. The kids still love it.

Thanks for the pep talk Doris.

Early walk and I am going to reverse my routine in the morning and walk first and then do my workout. Even if it is a few degrees cooler I will welcome it.

Just a walk today.

I loved doing the Hokey Pokey. Some great memories there.

Yesterday we had our walk. It felt good to be out and at it again. Well try for another day today.

It hit 93 today, and barely any wind, what a difference. Time to remove the top underwear, lol.................

Did 2 hrs. 45 min. bike time, 17 min. rebounder just walking, and 10 lb. weights and weight bar. Will not be able to do anything tomorrow, except pace while dh has his surgery.

Isn't it funny how something like that spread around, even in the "old" days, before computers and tv? My parents did the Hokey Pokey in Germany, too, and they were surprised to see people here knew it It's like the "Happy Birthday" song...........

Thank you, Susan, and howdy DO to Julie.

Loretta, I love your "constipated clouds", lol

Any breezes for you, Linda? And Sharon, it's not fun to walk when it's so warm.
Michele is around, and I applaud her doing the Yoga, do they play music?

I didn't do a danged thing, well, walked around, or "paced", went up and down 2 stairways to heaven, because one bathroom was "out of order". There are quite a few cancer doctors in this clinic bldg, and only a few orthopedic and regular doctors, and there is a lab downstairs, too.

Walked in the parking lot, but just to get stuff out of the car and put stuff back into the car, and waving the shirt around. Now we know to bring extra shirts for dh along....

Sorry I wrote too much...........

Will be back on the bike tomorrow!

We got out and walked yesterday and I did a little extra when I needed to go to Target and had DH park a far distance so I could walk some more. My knee felt a bit sore but I put some horse ligament on it and think I will ok. Today will be a rest day.

Those Greatland Target stores are Huge, we go to one in Reno, and you could dance your way through that place, and not hit another person.

Did 2 hrs. 45 min. bike, Jack's chair stuff, and 6 lb. weights, likely that's it for today. dh is still asleep, but I need to do kitchen work that is noisy.........

I was able to walk again today so that was a good thing. The knee was feeling better this morning. Must have been the horse liniment. LOL

Are you ok Julie after that incident? Check yourself over real good. streets can be hard to have a fall on.

Sharon, I'm fine. A few scrapes but that's all.
He's in surgery right now so we should know more after that.

I'm doing good with not much pain while walking so went a little further today. If I could reach back there I'd give myself a pat.

Loretta: As hot as it's been where you live it's good to get out there before the sun. You are such an inspiration. I know I can get back there by just not giving up.

Good for you, Sharon, getting out, and trying for just a little bit more. Do you wear a pedometer?

Loretta, has your friend with the Huntington's had it for a long time already? Isn't that what Woody Guthrie had, he also lived with it for a long time.

Did 2 hrs. 50 min. bike time, boxing twists with 5 lb. weights, and weight bar and Jack's chair stuff. Done for today.

I did the elliptical today for 30 minutes, and put a coat of that orange-oil stuff on the wooden cabinets.

I do have a couple of Omron pedometers but not wearing them right now. Going to start that back up when I'm back to were I was before. Right now it's just nice to be able to do the lesser distance. My goal is doing the Bob Jones Trail like I use to. You start by the 101 Hwy frontage road and end up at Avila Beach. I use to walk that to the beach and back 3 to 4x's a week. I'm getting back there a little at a time, LOL.

Sharon, we used to go clamming at Avila Beach in the late 1970's, with neighbor's who used to live at San Luis Obispo, we met when we moved into new houses in East San Jose. Was a lovely area, we sat at that beach very early in the morning, around 4:30 AM or so, lol. The reason I asked about the pedometer, for some people, it helps to wear the unit every day, when you go about your regular activities, so you may be tempted to take a few more steps, to add a bit more steps to your day without having to go out for an "official" walk.

There is a coyote hanging around down the dirt road, my dh has been watching it to see where he goes.........

It is a small world. My folks use to go clamming at Pismo Beach and Oceano. We played in the sand dunes and had big clambakes. Gee I must have been 7 or 10 years old at the time. Avila was our hang out to just lay around and get burned. Can you imagine the in thing was baby oil? Now we know just how stupid that was.

Watch out for that coyote. Yep SLO is where I'm at.

WTG Sharon with that persistance. Just keep doing it.

Out early but it was already very hot and humid at 6.
Exercise workout upper and lower body.

Yes, Doris, the gal has had the Huntington's for a while. They moved here about a year ago from Florida. He tries to stay active in the Coast Guard and also is her sole care provider so he needs and deserves the time away from her. Her family is supportive but they live far away, but 2 of her sisters, did stay with her for a week a few months ago.

Her sisters were lovely people. Kathy was a special ed teacher years ago and very active.
