Good morning

I had a fun day yeaterday going on a tour of a garden in north Seattle with friends. We had lunch at a wonderful restaurant in Edmunds on the way and I had the best gyro sandwich I ever ate. This area is very not ethnic, so it was a real surprise to find such fabulous Greek food.

No word from Gabe and Laurie.

I sure hope Doris's DH is OK. My DH has had many cancerous and precancerous lesions emoved from his skin over the years. He sees a dermatologist twice per year for this purpose.

My best to the rest.

Thanks for nudge on that ball SuSun,

Hotter than a... well y'all all know.
Going over my bills and the money should loosen up a bit in August. Wanted to pay off Ila once and for all (was even before she made me feel so bad at her house). She said to take my time but I told her I wanted to own my eyes. Of course oweing her and Anthony was just awful or at least it sure turned out that way for my self respect.
I sure am not doing much as the heat just has me panting and I will be staying inside till this afternoons rain cools us down a mite. I have covered all the windows for the summer and hate the feeling of living in a cave.
bbl as I need to at least move around a little in the house and I am hungry- my coffee (two big ones/one iced) and a banana have worn off. The pantry and fridge/freezer are pretty naked but I'll open a Jiff and finish off the blackberry All Fruit on some bread and a glass of diet coke (free with my banana purchase yesterday at Food Lion). I never, ever buy that stuff but free I'll have some.

Morning all. Just a quick note to say "hi" as I had a horrible night. Don't know what I ate to set me off but I was on the pot all night. I'd just get back to bed and was up again. I just had the mushrooms which I bought yesterday stuffed with the sausage I bought as well....hmmm, maybe it was the mozzarella cheese. That's the only thing that I had which was sitting around, Oh well, I lost a pound as a result and will probably gain it back with my first glass of water. I'm even cancelling PT for the day and just taking it easy.

Hope you all have a great day....m

Hi all.............computer has been not working so we finally got it taken care of today.

We finally got some rain and I was able to pull some beets this morning. We'll have them for dinner and the leftovers will be made into pickled beets, love 'em.
It has been extremely hot (90s) with strong winds, not enjoyable. Today tho' it's in the 80s and NO wind.

I've had two seperate antique people come look at what I have and did I ever have my eyes opened. Not much demand for antiques, at least in this part of Iowa. I guess if I lived in a big city things would be different. So, we're taking them all to an auction co. Monday. I just want them gone now.

DH got his hearing aids yesterday ($6,000) worth...........all for $50. He got them thru the VA. He is liking them, especially getting his phone calls thru bluetooth and he can also set the TV to do the same thing. Unreal, this technology. I'm happy he likes them, I've heard such horror stories.

Ginny, Wow that is great for your DH to get those hearing aids for $50. I would like those too, especially for the TV. Yes, my pc was out for almost 3 days. Just got it up and running late last night.

Oh Yuk Mary, I wonder what caused that potty night for you? I hope you can catch up on your sleep tonight.

Lainey, Your Welcome for the kick off. I just wondered where roll call was, so I took a chance to start it off. That's a good idea to cover all your windows to block out the sun. It will be good for your skin to live in a cave for a few months. LOL!

Babette, Sounds like that gyro was a tasty one for sure. No news is good news...
Glad you enjoyed the outing to the garden tour.

Hope Doris checks in. I have been MIA for a couple of days so I've missed her posts re her DH.

Waving to Loretta, Julie, Verleen, Coleen, Michele, Linda and All...

Hi Ho to all!

Big rain and lots of flooding in down town Norfolk. It floods here a lot too but not on my street thank goodness. My ceiling poured though and that is not fun. It is just a few flashes of lightening and some rumbles but only drizzle now. I think they said some more rain later tonight. No fun at all with the roof leaking.
Nothing on the telly tonight as per usual so I'll read and maybe finish a little novel a neighbor brought over in a stack of paperbacks. I had gotten away from reading because of my vision but can see very well now. The pages are so old that I use my 100 to 150 readers to make it more comfortable. Glad to be back to reading.
I am having a small flare up but not so bad as to need pain meds just yet anyway.
The house is still warm but it was smothering heat earlier today. Being on those short visits to my DD was the only thing I had to look forward to being away from this falling down house. Now, I just do not see myself staying there ever again. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted I guess.
Going to go and read a while and make it a super early night.
bbl or tomorrow

Howdy. Not much going on here. Picked up a script at the dr's today for my morphine for the bone infection. It would be wonderful if the new infectious disease dr could cure it, so I can get off one of these many meds I take. Most are for the cardio-vascular stuff. Almost all, in fact.

Mary, sorry about your bad night. Are you feeling better today?

Ginny and Susan, glad you got your PCs working. We miss you around here. Ginny, I love beets. I put a few in my little garden this year.

Babette, a good gyro is to die for. Most places don't make them very good, I have found.

Lainey, I wish there was a way we could get your roof fixed. Is there any way you could have a patch job to hold off the deluge for awhile? Many communities have programs to help seniors with repair stuff like yours. It was a scorcher here today. It was supposed to cool off, but didn't. The high humidity is a killer for me.

I need to find a digital book to read.

Doris, any word yet on how your dh is doing?

Hi to all who are lurking and not checking in. I'm watching you.

Hey Linda, I just got an email from Glacier. They just opened The Going to the Sun road. Early this year, huh? When I went, they didn't get the snow cleared out until the first week in July. If you're heading out, stop and pick me up, will you?

I wonder about the "lurkers" too, you notice on the side, the high number of "views", lol. I think I was a lurker for about 4 months though, until I posted on the menu thread first, to "break the ice".

Lainey, how awful to have your roof leak, good grief, and in that warmth and the chance of mold, wish some Senior Center would help you out. Doggon it!

Mary, I suppose anything can set off the runs, really, hope you have a better night. Hate those late night toidy visits!

Susan, glad you got the pc internet stuff working again, mine wouldn't let me on early this AM, and no time to fool with it.

Verleen, wouldn't it be nice to get off of all those danged meds, but the older we get, the more they seem to dole out. Glad you got beets in your garden, I only buy the canned ones for dh's salad.

Begete, glad you had good weather for the garden tour, and could go out and enjoy a greek meal for a change!!! So your dh has the skin doctor working on him, too. We are still new to this stuff.

Ginny, glad to "see" you, wondered if you guys went somewhere fun, or to play music or something. Glad your dh got those hearing aids now, and WOW at the prices!

dh was very anxious this AM, almost worse than before the liver transplant, in some ways. We left very early because it takes 2 hours to get down to the town where the dermatologist is, and they are working on the Feather River highway, and holding traffic for quiet a while, no toilets on that mountain road to speak of. dh lucked out, they got the "thing" removed the first time, and you were right, it is that "mohs" operation. Had to sew him up so he has stitches on his head, shaved the front part off and large bandage there. Have to treat it starting Sunday, with some ointment and cleaning with peroxide and so forth..............until July 3, when he gets another one removed on the side of his face. After that, he has 3 small ones, but they will wait until August and Sept. to do those, they will be easier. He is in pain, taking meds now, but hopefully will rest and not go out to work in the yard for awhile. Sorry I wrote a novel here, friends.

I'm not even washing dishes today, didn't do one push of the bike pedal, lazy gal tonight. But oh well

Thanks for your supportive comments my friends!! I appreciate it!

Off to get some emails answered.

Just checking in again...not much happened today, just hung around and looking forward to bed tonight as it's been a few nights since I've had decent sleep....guess it comes with the territory.

Doris, glad the DH's treatment came out well. That's the good thing about the MOHS, you have confidence that they removed it all. After all the car time, it's no wonder the bike didn't see your bottom today. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make up for the lost time this weekend.

Verleen, I forget, do you have a Kindle or other e-reader or the app for the pc...I don't know what I'd do without mine. I love it so much I added the app to my phone yesterday. I now have it on all my "devices;" two pc's, the tablet, and the phone as well as the Kindle. Amazon must love me as I have over 1500 books in my Archive, most of them freebies.

I started reading The Callahans I told you about earlier. I hadn't heard or read in the reviews that the girl protagonist was part of the Scandinavian-Mormon migration of the 1890's. I would have started it sooner had I known as my MIL was also part of that migration to Utah...I'm finding it's very interesting.

Guess that'll do it for now, hope your day was good....m

Doris, some days we need to write a novel and I read every word. I'm glad your dh's surgery went well. He probably won't be as nervous next time.

Mary, I have an iPad that I use as a reader. I'm looking for a good book to read. I'm very picky and won't read just anything. I hate romance novels. I love most of the classics but I've read them all. I like James Clavell but have read them all. I couldn't stand to read a poorly written book. Recently I read a Deaver book, titled something about Beasts in the Garden or something like that. I picked it apart as I was reading it - not a literary masterpiece. For me, it was fatally flawed. It probably has something to do with my career. I was an investigative auditor; always looking for the problems; taking people to court; officials at high levels lost their jobs; etc.

In the same vein, I read somewhere that as people's brains age, they revert back to babies. Incontinence and diapers, eating soft foods, talking baby talk, etc. If you start seeing me do any baby talk, please let me know, so I can shoot myself. I want to stave off senility for as long as I can, whether it is what I read or who I hang with. I suppose that's why for the last 10-15 yrs, I chummed around with younger people. To keep myself younger. Its probably not going to work. I'm going to get old and senile just like everyone else.
