Our market in the bigger town had white corn for sale, 10 for $5, but I didn't get any because I think it's too early. I keep frozen corn cobs on hand, just in case we feel like having some, but they arn't quite the same as the new stuff. Have you ever grown corn, Loretta, back in earlier years?

D: Boca burger and fried egg on top, and lots of steamed asparagus.

Still working on reducing the carbs...11 g of those are from the strawberries, but I got carried away at Costco last week and bought a four-pound pack and had to do something with them.. froze some.

I love the Nonni's choclate biscotti I bought, perfect snack, 100 calories, I'm using it to replace one of the 100 calorie Healthy Choice bars I have every night. A worthwhile treat, I had forgotten about them, used to use them years ago, but looked over my menu plans from 2006. Thanks for mentioning biscotti's, Mary!!

See yah later on.

That Dr. Ozz agrees that people don't need to eat breakfast when they first get up? Really? I never did like or agree with him on anything. LOL Maybe he "ain't" so bad afterall

Brunch was some plain Greek yogurt, leftover egg plant parm, unbreaded, and coffee.

several cups of coffee and two glasses of diet tonic this afternoon with a couple of pieces of Cooper Cheese.

Dinner was a large bowl of Greek Lemon, egg, chicken soup a small V-8 and coffee.

Chardonnay tonight with some salted almonds.

The Guy on "Diner's, Drive In's and Dives" just showed that Greek lemon, egg and chicken soup the other day, Linda, I remember you mentioning it. Dr. Oz is not a complete witch doctor, but his pushing of supplements, because they are a major advertiser of his tv show and especially his web site, is what turns us off, and his pandering to women is nauseating, he is like a Health Tom Jones. He means well, but he also has to make the bucks, same as all the rest of them. Our culture seems to need this kind of thing, someone to take us on a Magical Mystery Tour. He is on twice a day here, my Mother adores him! And even he can't work magic for Oprah.............neither could any of her other diet guru's, point to ponder.

How do you guys cook a lamb shank? Braise in a pan and then roast?

Yes Doris, braise but first marinate in :
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste

Throw them in the oven with the marinade, cover, and bake for about 3 hours.

Monday's Eats

Love lamb...DH couldn't stand it so I rarely had it at the house. I used to get the lamb breast whenever we were camping out so I could cook it over the coals and not have to worry about the grease messing up the house...haven't done that in years. In fact, I don't even remember seeing lamb breast available anymore.

Today's Food
B. One cup each decaf and leaded coffee, Crystal Light W/metamucil, one ounce each jerky and mozzarella cheese before PT
L. Lettuce-wrap burger and Iced tea
s. 11 almonds
S. Chicken broth, two baby carrots, celery, bok choy, one chicken wing, and an egg..a little soy sauce and sesame oil in soup. Red sweet peppers with 1 T whipped cream cheese.

I've never seen lamb breasts either, only the shanks and chops, but, I haven't looked, only began buying lamb when dh spotted the shanks at Costco in the frozen section. He just loves them, and I like the ease of fixing it, I don't eat it, but always good to find something that he enjoys.

Tuesday's foods

B: at the school, Spanish omelet and lots of good, black coffee and yakking.

L: Pumpernickle bread sandwich, light laughing cow cheese, ham. 1 H/B egg. Bowl of green beans and black olives. black coffee

Snack: 78% very dark chocolate, 2 pieces, and black coffee

D: chicken breast with whatever flavor I decide on later on, and lots of steamed asparagus, got to use it up. black coffee

Evening snack: Nonni's bittersweet chocolate biscotti, and cup of unsweetened applesauce from an off brand. black coffee

We raised sheep and lambs, when we lived in the old farm house on a ranch near Fresno, after coming here from Germany. My grandfather knew how to raise sheep and he did the butchering, but I was just a little girl, and named the lambs and sheep, so I refused to eat them..........same thing with the rabbits we had................I always opted for a "fried egg". I still do the same thing now, lol.

One time, the sheep got loose, and my mother and I had to chase 4 sheep through a residentional section into the tiny farm town, with mops and brooms, had no rope or collar. Finally, we cornered them in the small post office, and people from the post office gave us some ropes to get the animals back home. Lucky it was just a tiny village of a town, lol, but we still laugh about that.
