And what is so rare as a day in June
Then - if ever - come perfect days
Then Heaven tries earth if it be in tune
And over it softly her warm ear lays
Thank you Mrs. LeClaire (my beloved 8th grade English teacher)

Joy for June everyone,

Jezzie, looks like a great BBQ going on.
We are supposed to get some rain today but I have not checked NOAA as yet and I love that site as it will give you your weather by zipcode and it is amazing how different the forcast are when pin pointed like that- now I am a NOAA junkie... that is harmless I suppose as addictions go. Without rain to force me inside I would never come in except to get food and the Little Girls Room. Jeepers! I should unpack at least and start a laundry before I run out of clothes to wear- no chance of that really but you get my drift.
bbl eggbeaters are gone, coffee almost gone and I need to take my Janeuva and Zetia. The Amour Thyroid is taken the minute I wake up. Did not get my B12, Vit. D or fiber caps down yesterday- will not miss today.
Have a great new June beginning everyone.
Elaine

I can't BELIEVE it is June already. A high school buddy just sent pictures of his grandsons first birthday...seems like 2 weeks ago he sent pictures of the birth...time is really speeding up.

We will have rain today, too. And heat.

My dd brought BBQ fixings over to my house yesterday to cook on the gas grill and I started the grill. By the time we were ready to put the burgers on the grill...DARN if I hadn't run out of propane. So we repacked the whole kit and kaboodle and went to her house to cook on charcoal. It was over 90 in that backyard, too. But the burgers were great and the company was great, too.

I try to refrain from "Maggie" stories since all babies are darling and say cute things but yesterday she made and exception. After eating a cupcake with her fingers she was covered in icing and cake. Her mother was cleaning her face and hands and like most babies she said "NO MOMMIE, STOP MOMMIE"..1 second 2 second 3 second "HELP"...it just struck me so funny to see that tiny 22 month old pleading for help!! Such abuse...NOT....

Have a good day everyone and try to stay dry and cool.
Waving to everyone.

Hi all,

Great day here yesterday too. The little get-together at the Bar was well attended and there was lots of food. At least my deviled eggs got all "gone" I don't like having to bring stuff back home.

Today, going to the BIG grocery store about 45 minutes away and wash some clothes this morning. It's beautiful out right now but strong storms (think possible tornadoes) are a possibility later today. We will sleep with the weather radio next to us.

Jezzie, I too like Ms. LeClaire. I remember reading My Antonia in her class which I loved.

Happy June!

Hi Lainey

Oh please please please Anne do not refrain from telling Maggie stories.

If there's a person in the world who isn't charmed by 'out of the mouthes of babes'
stories - they can scroll past. ..... I love how she spoke her mind ... as she saw
the situation.

Laureen told me a few about Kiran.
My favorite. She was reading aloud to him and happened to read the word 'hate'.
Kiran said: "Please Mommy don't read bad words like hate. It gives me a headache".
.

Edited to say: Hi Ginny. Wasn't even thinking about that someone else would know
a Hawthorne Junior High teacher. She could be tough but she ignited something in me.

Ginny and Jezzie, the tough ones always ignite things. My DD1 had a really tough junior high teacher. When they got to high school 90% of the kids in that class graduated with honors...the world needs more teachers like that...

Tell Kiran hate gives me a headache, too.

Happy June 1st All,

A brand new month to start over a fresh. We too have rain up here Jezzie same weather as you guys. Wow! What a large deck, just lovely to accommodate all those folks.
I am sure the lawns, flowers and farmers are glad about the steady downpour.

Feeling some twinges from the ex. class that I attended last night, going to another ex. class this aft, home for a quick shower, then out to work for the evening group. Eating on track so far.

Elaine, How did you enjoy the Hurt Locker I haven't seen it yet. DH is not sure if he wants to see it. We watched The Edge of Darkness last night with Mel Gibson. DH loved it, I found it so so.

Oh Yes Anne, do not stop the Maggie stories, ditto on Jezzie's comments.

Ginny, hope your weather behaves for you guys.

Waving to All.

I second that Jeezie....one of many reasons to have virtual friends....

Well, there is sun today. Feels like Monday though. Kids off to school. Last full day of high school for DD #3. She wore her Bennington College shirt. I'm glad cause I'm picking up on some anxiety as leaving home is fast becoming 'more real'.....so it is a positive sign that's she's thinking good things about college. Lately her response had been "I don't want to think about that now".

Hope everyone has a great day

Rushed home from work to sit here and wait for the plumber.... He'll be here anytime between 12 - 5.... Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that this doesn't cost me all my body parts!

Jezzie, Glad the BBQ went well and I hope you get the rain you're hoping for.
We're expecting a high of 95 today and probably 100 by the end of the week. I guess summer is really, really here now!

Maybe once the repair guy is gone, I can go on over to the gym - no excuses today

BBL,
Michele

Jezzie was the bbq held at your neighbor Kenny's place? Just wondering. He must have know your kids since they were little. I wouldn't want to judge a book by its cover but I think I might have issues with him also.

Anne I love the Maggie stories too. Those kids are just precious without even knowing it.

Michele, sure hope you don't have to wait too long for the plumber. Our weather here to day is really going to be hot also. A cool 77º in my house with shades drawn and fans running, no AC yet.

Eileen school is already out here in Ky. I know what you mean when you say it feels like Monday. Even though I'm retired the holidays somehow get me messed up.

Ginny, hope the storms don't get too serious for you.

Hi everyone,

I really liked "The Hurt Locker" and am not at all supprised it got the Academy award. Now that is true fine acting, directing and story telling. I read that several "real servicemen" said that it is spot on with telling it like it is. OMG, those men are amazing heros.
SuSun, I had posted the above on either Sunday or Monday- my brain is broke in the time department. I did watch it in 2 parts on one day and then the next but it did not mess up the story at all. The movies are simply way too long now or they are for me- I suppose the young-uns like it that way.
I got 3 teapots- two whistlers and a state of the art Hamilton Beach Electric one that I need to read the papers that came with it. It's a beauty and I have wanted/needed one for ages and ages.
I came out of Big Lots into the bright sun and it was raining diamonds- yep, yep, yep it was. The sun made the droplets sparkle just like diamonds and I went nuts in my head. Course it only lasted several seconds but I got to be in it and am thankful to the Lord for that.
The property (real estate, storm water and (?) else) taxes are paid and 1/2 the yearly personal property (Jeep) are paid till December. Still have errands left to do but am too tired to worry about it now- tomorrow is another day but I got my mental health group and even though the therapist said I do not need to be there I enjoy the ladies so much that they let me come when I want to...(it is only 5.00 so I like to go every 2 or 3 weeks. I have not been for a couple of months so I am wanting to go.
I think America's Got Talent starts tonight and I do enjoy that show so there goes my lights out at 9: out the window... but lights out at 10: is still good.
bbl or tomorrow
Jezzie, That guy Kenny appears to be someone that could be "out of sorts" at times....

Michele, I do hope that plumber showed up and fixed you right up.

What a nice "slice of life" series of pictures from the barbeque Jezzie! Your neighbor proves how much we all like to stereotype people, just by looking at them. Anyone who ever watched Archie Bunker would automatically think a few thoughts about your neighbor, personality wise. It's just human nature though, and no laws the government can make will change that.

We had some showers, in spite of the weather guru's saying otherwise for up here, lol. Sort of humid even, unusual.

Will be gone tomorrow and Thursday, heading down to our aunt's funeral, have to leave tomorrow because it's too danged far, need to make motel reservations. Too bad it's a sad family reunion, as these things usually turn out to be.........

Take care of yourselves gang.

The plumber did his thing and fixed a broken valve. He also advised me to call someone to extract the water from inside the walls, which I did. They showed up at 5:00 and decided I needed to replace some sheet rock. Right now there are just some small holes in the ceiling to get some air up there. Tomorrow, they'll pull the old sheet rock and set up some fans to dry out the wood. The fans have to stay up there 3 days, then they'll spray some mold/mildew preventative stuff. Then I guess the new sheet rock goes up and the painting begins.

All I can say is - wow! I've called the insurance company, but got to leave a message. This is all so overwhelming...

Please send positive thoughts this way, if you can --

Thanks,
Michele

Hello Shoo....traveling for a year! That had to be fun (and I'm sure you've got some great stories).

Michele....sounds like they did a great job! Trust me, it's better finding a leak right away, than one of those slow leaks. Your insurance might cover the first (immediate water damage) vs the second (slow leak from failed whatever). Every company seems to be different.

Hope you guys send some of that warm weather my way....it's supposed to get around 50 and more rain here tomorrow.

You have them Michelle. The positive thoughts I mean.

Last year my older son went through extensive water damage plus
carpenter ants - to one section of his house. So I can empathize.

oh, Michele. So sorry. It is like cleaning out the junk drawer in your kitchen...by the end you have a new stove and wallpaper, too. Things just tend to grow like kudzu. But it is better to get the problem solved now rather than deal with the mold and other things later on. Good luck...good thoughts are with you.
