Roll Call: Monday, May 24th
![]() - Little patch that used to be a big patch (lawnmowers and pricker bush damage). Good Morning kiddos Had a good breakfast with Jamie. Then shopping at Home Depot and Hannafords. Mushroom and swiss omelet. Pancakes and breakfast potatoes. I'm about as fond of Home Depot as Wal*Mart ..... but it was convenient. It's across the parking lot from where we have our breakfasts. Gladys: Hope you are feeling better. - Does the weather give you headaches? Be back later ..... if my computer good fortune lasts. lol. |

I just love Purple irises. All of mine are yellow. It looks like you have the same angle of grade as I do in my yard,Jezzie.
Monday sure got here quickly...Saturdays are slow though. I watched a couple of episodes of a British comedy called William and Mary last night...It was not one I will put on my must watch the rest of the discs list. I guess I just was showing my age that single people with teenagers just didn't interest me...otherwise it was fairly good. Just too much DRAMA... Better check on Mags...she is quiet...not a good sign. Have a great week, Ya'll. Anne |

Good morning, Jezzie and Anne'
That breakfast sounds good Jezzie. The best part is having it with your son. Those moments are wonderful. I relish all the family time I can get. Yesterday I atteneded Leah's piano recital. She played "Yes Jesus loves me" She did quite well except for a note or two. All of the youngsters were just precious. Not a one of them ended up crying. Anne I am not a big fan of British movies or authors. I read almost all of the Harry Potter novels but did not care for the movies with the British accent. Had a problem getting all of the words. Getting a new timing belt put on my Honda today, by the Honda people. Felt bad leaving my "baby" in their hands. She assured me that they would be gentle with her. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Gladys and Doris.

At least you could get your car fixed Loretta, and on the road again, thankfully! I used to give my car "names", back in other times, lol.
Lovely green picture to me Jezzie, damage or not. Sounds like a grand time for you spending it with your son. You are lucky he is near enough, I'm sure you know that though. Howdy Anne, hope you get through your day ok today. We just had to do post office, they messed something up again. Off to get the rest of the bike time done for today, tomorrow is a wash out, gotta go down to the clinic again, but hope to do a quick Costco run on the way home. Need meats, for one thing, and want to get strawberries from the stand too. Important treat for the two of us, berries seems to be the highest fruit recommended so far. Have a good day, and hope Gladys is better today also. Doris |

Happy Victoria Day Canadians!
![]() We celbrated over at DD's last night, see Sunday's Menu. Worked today as it was a Stat holiday extra $$s. I was home for 4p.m. so that's great still enjoying the sunshine. Everywhere is closed today so we were skeleton staff today.I had lots of coffee this morning to fire me through the morning, now I am floating high. LOL!Enjoy those berries Doris, they are my favourite too all berries in fact. Awww Loretta, I bet that recital was just heartwarming, good for Leah! ![]() You may have a problem with my accent Loretta...LOL! I totally understand that some of the accents are tough to catch, and then there are different words that have differing meanings. We have been gone for 33years now and have a hard time sometimes too. Hi Anne, hope Mags is okay. Lovely you had breakfast with your son Jezzie, and some exercise around HD, adds a few steps to the daily total so to speak. Sending Hugs to Gladys and Doris and hopes for speedy recoveries.

Loretta:How neat. Piano.
![]() Wayne went to his 8 yo grand daughter's dance recital last night Anne: I laugh when Wayne says y'all y'all twice in a sentence. And when he says Fuh ya (for you) and See'ment (cement). He doesn't talk too southern with me. But with others - yes. He is less southern sounding than 'east coast' south. People on Newscasts from Georgia, South Carolina sound more Southern than Louisiana ... to me anyway. ... I always think of Blanche Devereau. I'm a huge Golden Girls fan. . |

I love accents, they tickle me to hear them. On the trip, we had some doozies, they had trouble understanding my husband and mother in law, and in turn, mother in law and hubby had trouble with them too. Ordering food in a restaurant in particular was something else, but people were good natured about it. Were in a Dairy Queen in Childress, Texas on the way home, and that was a riot, the lady clerk had never heard anyone with a German accent before, thought we were Russians or something, and the locals kept watching us as we got our drinks and sat down.
Jezzie, I keep getting this little travel guide from Lafayette, called the "Official Guide to Good Times in Acadiana", BON TEMPS, loaded with all sorts of info, and the food ads are certainly out of this world, want to just go there and let out our pants waists and get eatin', lol. One of these days, one of our Navy reunions will be held down there, since it was cancelled due to the hurricane several years ago, the guys from there still want to do one at some point. I've been looking in my old jewelry boxes for some "brooches", do any of you ever wear one of those? My 2 new dresses have a collar that goes "down", and I notice that I should pin a "brooche" or "something" there to keep the girls in their place. Have a pleasant evening friends. Doris |

I remember when I first moved here to KY and had to grocery shop. As soon as I opened my mouth to speak they would ask me if I came from the north. Some Kentuckians have accents that I cannot dechiper. Wonder what caused such a diversity in speech. It's interesting and cause for many jokes.
I have several brooches that were my mom's and I frequently wear them. But do not need to keep my girls in place. |

Loretta, it has always interested me in the different kinds of "southern accents", because of my interest in very early country music is the reason why. There is a distinct difference the way people speak from various parts of the different states, even with all the tv news networks trying to make everyone speak the same way. Even in Germany there are quite a few "dialects", dh and I speak a different dialect from each other in fact. And the south also has these dialect distinctions. I enjoy hearing them. You are lucky to live where things are different. So you have sort of a "Chicago" accent that, or Mid Western?
